Jabiru J230D, Jabiru J230 D aircraft review, U.S. Sport Planes Jabiru Distributor Texas.
    Jabiru J230-D
The Jabiru J230-D is the latest development of the popular Jabiru J230 factory built Light Sport Aircraft Range
Responding to customer feedback on the J230-C we have improved the J230-D in several key areas:
A thinner centre console makes better use of the interior space
J160-C style control stick is more comfortable and allows instructors a better grip.
Modifications to the instrument panels gives improved knee room.
Certifying the aircraft to ASTM 2245-06 standards allows for the option of Night-VFR operations - making a J230-D the first factory built Jabiru able to fly at night (when optioned with the Night package & VH registered).
These changes have been made without affecting the J230-C’s traditional strengths of value, reliability, simplicity, speed, comfort and Room. It still has the J230-C’s excellent interior room and a huge baggage compartment - it is the same fuselage as the J430 but the J430’s rear seats are not fitted.
    Features

Fully enclosed, ergonomically designed cabin with 3 doors providing ease of entry for baggage stowage.
    Excellent visibility
Side-by side fixed seating with centre controls and panel mounted throttles. Ideal for training or recreation.
Tricycle undercarriage with steerable nosewheel and hand operated in line hydraulic disc brakes makes ground handling a breeze.

Took a demo ride in a 230D @ Midwest LSA expo in 2013... September I think. Used to own a 1967 pa-28 140. The 230D is a superior airplane to my old Cherokee 140 ...

Good review, but I REALLY really wish you had a stereo microphone... While listening to this with headphones, my left ear got pretty worn out :-/

they just need to mix the audio into mono and you'd get it in both channels.

Hoping to see you at Deland! weather looking iffy and I'm in CA. Any issues with Jabiru engines? Seems to be some negative comments on other videos about the reliability...never know how true those are, but I love how spacious and that it can actually do the 120 KTS

I won't be at Deland, have a medical issue with my eyes. Dan will be there. As for the Jabiru I would suggest you call and talk to Scott at ussportplanes.com/. He will give you complete and honest answers to anything you want to know.
I have flown aircraft powered by the Jabiru 4 and 6 cylinder. I find the 4 cylinder to be a little underpowered when compared to the Rotax 912, or even the Rotax 582. The 6 cylinder is a brute of an engine, plenty of power and very smooth running.

I would suggest you check out our interview at th-cam.com/video/250TMFHlreE/w-d-xo.html - where the distributor talks directly about our questions re problems with the engines.

What’s to keep you from putting two back seats in there? Certainly is roomy enough.

      DAM8658 there is a version with 4 seats it’s the Jabiru J430

The regulations! LSA two seat. If built as an experimental and flown with a regular pilots license you can build it and fly it with four seats.

Could you build this aircraft as an E-LSA and when/if the ffa changes the regs to allow more than two passengers, add additional seating in the back? And still fly with just a sport class certificate?
