What do you think-would a fat tire e-bike like this be useful for you? Also a quick clarification for what I said at 11:29 - electric bikes can certainly be great for exercise! I just don't often use them for that purpose! :)
I'd disagree with the comment that e-bikes aren't for exercise. Drop the assist to 1 and it basically balances out the extra weight of the bike and you still get a good workout. It also enables you to bump up the assist for a big hill or a strong headwind, enabling exercise on windy days or hilly areas that might keep people at home otherwise. Maybe these heavy fat tires aren't ideal for it, but they'll work. I ride my Ride1Up 700 ST for both transportation and exercise (when it's too windy for the acoustic bike). Ride1Up makes some more normal exercise-focused bikes too - might be an interesting review for you. E-Bikes are just great all around. Glad you're doing these reviews!
Sorry I realized I should’ve been more clear, I was just talking about myself! For me I’m not looking for exercise but totally they can be great for exercise!
Fantastic to see the streets of LA again up close and personal & also on your fun car spotting vid from two videos ago (guessing it was a Sunday?). Went for a bike ride on my fold up ‘pedal power’ last night to collect my car from repairs, enjoyed it, & thought of your e bike review videos and your new found ‘appreciation of them. I think I lit a spark & although I am in outback Queensland, with mostly quiet roads I’m open to exploring this option! Thanks!
Thanks for this review, and others for the comments. I'm looking for an e-bike to get around town, and probably doing some shopping. Don't really expect to use it, from first good snow, until thaw. Although, fat tires could come in handy on dirt roads. The price point seems high, especially if affected by Biden's tariffs, but that seems standard and doing my own build is out.
I'd be interested to have you try the Heybike Ranger-S and Mars 2.0. Just wondering what your thoughts are on those. They are seeming to try and play off being a high quality/low price eBike that is American designed, but Chinese built. Honestly we have two, just wanted to see what you think. Praise seems high, but I think a lot of it is bought by them.
Hi Ethan, in another video you mentioned your cargo ebike. I am interested in one of those. There are many to choose from. Are there a couple you would recommend? Or, any i should avoid? 😊 Not gonna hold your feet to the fire on this. Just looking for some direction. Thanks, Brad
Really depends on your budget! I really loved the Tern GSD but it's super expensive. The Aventon Abound is worth checking out, that's just over $2k. I haven't ridden the Lectric XPedition yet, but it looks like it might be a good budget option at $1300ish. I have a Radwagon 4, and while it's been super useful I probably wouldn't recommend it. Under braked, no suspension, and a few other weird annoyances. But the Radwagon 5 does seem like an improvement, that might also be worth looking at.
@@HelloRoad I was looking at the rad wagon, as I have heard good things about rad bikes. Thank you for your insight. I will skip 4, and look at rad wagon 5 and Lectric xpedition. I am always working on a tight budget. So super expensive is off the list. Thanks again. , Brad
Yeah if the battery runs out on an 84 pound bike, it's not going to be that much fun to pedal! But honestly it's not too bad in low gear with Level 1 assist. I think most of these fat tire e-bikes are targeted at people who want comfort and speed, and not necessarily exercise.
seems like this bike has normal tektro brakes with 1.8mm brake discs and a 2 piston brake caliper. on a bike this heavy especially if it is fully loaded it should have the 2.3mm discs with a 4 piston brake caliper😅
It's interesting, I never felt like this bike was under-braked. But for sure if I weighed more, or if the bike was loaded up with cargo, or if I was dealing with huge hills it could behave differently. It seems like it's pretty common for most fat tire bikes at this price point do 2 piston calipers and 180mm rotors
Though I have dealt with under-braked bikes! My Radwagon 4 weighs about the same as this Freedare, but it has pretty terrible cable-operated 180mm brakes. Gets pretty sketchy when loaded up. Need to upgrade for sure

And yes I’d like to reach out to Ride1Up!

Thanks!! These are Asics Noosa Tri 15. They come in a few different colors/patterns :)

Heybike reached out to me, hopefully I'll be able to review both of those. I've heard good things :)

Aventure.2, freedare eden or himiway d5? I just can't decide. Looking for expert opinion.
Had you done more pedaling, I think your review would’ve been much more negative… these big wheel, heavy bikes are not for pedaling.

I have two fat tire e bikes and I don’t mind pedaling either one. They are both 26” x 4”
The specs are good but the price point is just soooo high. I would find myself cross shopping with motorcycles in this range.

Who fixes these?
