Great review. Now I saw they have 2 versions of the model. Urban and Standard. Which one is yours? And if you know, what are the different between these versions other than the price? Thank you
Hmmmm.... they must have come out with another version at some point after I made this video. I know nothing about the separate models. All I know is they had a step thru version of this Saiga.
When you install these apps normally they bring up a Stop battery optimization for the app to work correctly! There could also be a power saver or Display time out built into the settings of the app to stop it reverting back! That's exactly what it's trying to do is save power from your device I had all these prompted up in screen when setting my bosch smart system app up maybe this app.you have just doesn't have the code for the promts to do this!? It's definitely your iphone settings doing this! Have alook at permissions and battery optimization make sure permissions are all ON and GPS on as GPS location will probably be on a time out!
The app does work now. It no longer falls asleep but, i don't believe there is much use for the app unless you switch up the different modes. Range? Not sure what else to tell you. During specs, I tell you how far they advertise the range and at the end of the video, I show you how far I got on it. With that being said. I have been riding this bike since the review and really enjoy it!
This Freedare is my 2nd favorite 26" fat tire ebike (right behind my Aventon Aventure 2). I still ride it around so I would have to choose the Freedare. To be fair, I have not reviewed the Velowave Ranger 2 but did look it up online when you mentioned it.
Great Video Scott! Enjoying your reviews. Have they made any updates to the app since you reviewed the bike, and have they fixed some of the issues you were having? Also nice Swiss Flag and CH sticker on the car. Swiss guy here in Milwaukee 🙂
Thanks for watching! They did fix the issue where it no longer falls asleep. They also just sent me an email the other day stating that they are working on the navigation feature of the app as well. Once they fix that, I will review the app. I enjoy the bike so much that the issues with the app dont bother me as I seldom use the apps that come with the bikes.
Hmmmmm.... I kept the Saiga a lot longer than I did the Puckipuppy, maybe that gives you the answer. I only sold the Saiga because I ran out of room since more bikes where coming in to be reviewed.
@@scotthardesty Did the dual suspension on the Puckipuppy make much difference. I intend to use it around town, but also occasionally on mountain roads.
@@traceyjohnson1618 ah. It does make a difference. The riding position of the Saiga is way more aggressive than the Boxer ST. Now that I know more about your situation, the Boxer for sure. It is more comfortable.
Another great review, Scott! Loved the tech; didn't love the issues you had with it. Seems like a pretty steep learning curve. The bike itself is a beast, for sure...but not enough to move me off the Aventure.2. Thanx for the ride!!
@@RicLevine It was them that fixed it and it was because of my review. I don't see much use for the app. I also don't see much use in Aventons app as well. I use the app to setup the bike and normally never go back to them. I like the bike way more than I like the app.
@@scotthardesty- Good that Freedare noticed. Good on them! I'm with you, too...the bike and the ride is FAR more important than an app. Now...when they make an app you can ride...that'll be something. Which I'm sure you'd review. ;-)
I have been riding this bike this week just for fun. I really really like this bike. Its been lower 40's and this bike just screams. When it comes to charging the batteries, in the winter months I keep the batteries inside until I am using the bike.
what a beauty! great video! and the app turning off, it might be your app settings on the phone itself? im 14 mins in, so maybe you fixed it at that point :)
I went all thru the app the night before. I didn't see anything stating the app with an "always on" option. Even checked the iPhone settings for the app. There wasn't a toggle to tun anything off an on besides, Bluetooth, cellular, notifications, and location. If there is a setting to keep it on, I was not able to find it!
I have a mokewheel scoria, which has the same pedaling setup as the Freedare. I have to tell you, the Freedare has a really good torque sensor and zero ghost pedaling. I have had to put a couple hundred dollars to get the Scoria to ride without ghost pedaling. The Freedare is a beast out of the gate. Nothing needed to be done with that bike. The more I ride the Freedare the more I love it. I care less about the app or the issues with it when it comes to the Freedare. I would choose the freedare over a Basalt hands down.
@@scotthardesty Thanks for the reply. I just bought a Mokwheel Basalt. My wife now wants a fat tire bike after riding mine. I really like the Freedare Eden, and it's $200 cheaper. One last thing, do you think the cables are long enough to put an adjustable stem? That's the only thing holding me back. I've heard the reach is pretty far on the Freedare.
Really nice looking bike and it held up well to your tests. I wonder if that company would make this bike but for smaller build people. Also, that anti-theft detection, I would rather have some type of alarm that could draw attention to a possible theft. Knowing your bike has been moved and can be tracked is great but adding an alarm would be a great addition, in my opinion. Great review as always! By the way, what’d ya get at the store?! 😊
I agree with you that a built in alarm system would be ideal. That with the gps tracker would be a great combo. I picked up a small tub of butter and coffee creamer! Hahaha
@@scotthardesty great for the groceries because we are always here for the food info! I’m currently looking for a rear wire basket for my level 2. Any suggestions? Because I want to get stuff from walmart but I’m not gonna use saddle bags!! lol
The website does not work anymore and can't order bikes on their website. The link you provided also does not work. I like the bike based on your review but if the website is taken down, I am not sure if that helps to drop a $1k on this bike and worry about the company honoring their warranty.
@@diskgrind3410 Sorry. I wouldn't know either then. I go by the notes I find on the website. Maybe you can reach out to them? Agreed. I looked at all the other reviews on this bike to see if it was just me, but it looks like I am the only one who actually did a real world test with the app.
Great review. It's a nice looking bike. Unfortunately, it's just more of the same. Companies like this will get eaten up quickly. Don't look for this one to stay around. The market is a cruel taskmaster. I would only buy a bike from a well established company that has some real traction. When you realize you can get a Wired Freedom for just a few hundred dollars more, this one is an easy pass.
