I tried this with my cockatiel. It flew away. Was found 2 and a half days later, 5 km away. Since then we've heard from people who saw him, and have figured out that he must have flown at least 15 km. We were lucky that he was found!
Teabag Der Teebeutel . I had my parrot outside from the first week when his wings were still clipped from the breeder. Since then even after his flight feathers came back he always stayed close to me. We always kept an eye out for predators and never had an problem. The only real issue we had was that the bird was too friendly and landed on a stranger (neighbour 2 houses down) and they captured him thinking it's a stray, this happened when one of my family members took him out who wasn't his primary caregiver so the bird strayed farther from the property then usual. Took a few hours but we found him. Since then I've been very paranoid about him landing on strangers and have limited his free flight time drastically to times when strangers are not around. Just not worth the risk considering how lucky we were to have him returned since many finders don't post parrots on the lost pet pages or with the humane society thinking they are not important or have been thrown away outside. I posted everywhere from helping lost pets, Ontario lost and found bird network, parrot alert, kijiji/Craigslist, and notified the local animal shelters. Took 12 hrs but we found the bird.
Crackie is a sweetheart she seems very happy too, a sign you spend lots of quality time with her as you know parrots need alot of emotional connection with their, "flock." All the best I love the video.
I wish I could do with my birds. This is what they were born to do. What well trained bird. Today I got a new toy for my birds and from moment they saw they few to floor and hide in a place I could not get them. I had to move a cabinet and let them come on their own. Anybody want a bird toy.
No offence but a king parrot is a forest bird. They don't like open spaces. Too much air for a predator to find them. How did you get a King Parrot anyway?
Makes me a little uneasy seeing a king parrot in another country lol there's a pair that hangout in the pine in my front yard in the afternoons, so beautiful 💚❤️
Thomas W hows she getting on? Just keep her in her cage for a while in a room where she can see you go about you daily activities. Offer treats and talk softly. Its a patience game.
female parrots will lay hollow eggs on their own. of course you need a male parrot to have chicks. as far as talking, they pick up random chatter if they are not directly influenced. to get a parrot to learn something is the same as getting an infant to do so. you just gotta talk to then directly until they get it. don't forget to reward them. they learn quicker that way.
The noise she makes is fucking adorable.
Crackie is a legend. She (apparently was, and) is a real good Egg.
awwwwwwwwwww his voice is so cuteeeeee

+NaiOni very lucky
You have to do lots of training before you can do that. Why did you take it outside whitout a harness and training anyway?

Better watch out for hawks
