Agreed. To have the same animal for 40ish years is amazing because they are a lot of work to take care of. To see the dedication and to want to talk to the bird over the phone while away is really cool to see.
They're lucky that they could get to tumour off, and that it wasn't cancerous! My dog was 15, and he was a bigger dog, so 15 was old for him. He had a lump on his leg, and sadly it was cancer. We were afraid he was too old to go under surgery, and that he wouldn't wake up. We put him down, so he wouldn't suffer. That dog chased down a burglar, and saved my life when I was a kid. I will forever miss him.
Or, hear me out; don't keep birds of this type as pets. Parrots and similar birds have needs that 90% of people can't meet. It's cruelty, plain and simple.
Miracle no, a good age, sure. With the proper care and some luck with genetics, galah cockatoos can live up to 70 years. Now, this parrot is only eating fatty foods and has limited exercise, so fat jasbaccumulated and that could be a problem, because a lipoma can be removed, but fatty liver can't, and thats why it's important to get your parrot, from tiny budgies to macaws and cockatoos, on a good, balanced diet from early on, because a middle aged parrot is like a small child when it cones to communicating whats vital. I get that back in the day the information on proper care was limited and certainly not available to everyone as it is today with the internet, but still, just don't give your bird pasta. It's a double shame, because the dad absolutely loves Pretty, no question on that, but he was still killing him with love.
Most of us with birds, get very passionate about them. My birds have become an obsession. Especially my cockatiel Charlie. Birds have a way of getting into our hearts and souls.
I'm sure it was one of the hardest things to change Pretty's diet. BUT to watch the tumor go down. That's a amazing. I'm sure it made a believer out of Pretty's owner. just to think having your first pet sense you were 11 yrs old...That would be so Great! and Bondi Vet's another great video. thanks for sharing
Maurizio is a very caring pet Guardian. Chris is a caring Vet, and it's obvious here. He gave Maurizio, in a loving ❤ way, the necessary information in the dietary teaching. Poor Baby, oops, I mean Pretty. No more steak and pasta. Its the salad way of life (did I hear he could have chicken?) and ❤it's doing a great job for the bird. He really looks wonderful.
And wow what a difference that diet worked great i wish i could shrink the one i have in my pancreas chemo sucks Congratulations to Pretty and his Dad well done
What I don’t understand is how little people know about how to care for their animals and how long they will let health problems continue before they search out the advice of a vet.
It’s so hard to change a birds diet, I have at one point had 12 + rescue birds one specifically a little parrottlette came to be and had no idea about veggie mash or birdie bread, or pablum or anything. Took her well over a year to accept one new thing. Then another couple more to get her completely off seed.
Is Pretty going to grow back his leg and belly feathers as well? He looks half plucked. Reminds me of when a couple of hens got into fruit preserved in alcohol and fell over like dead birds. My Gran quickly started plucking them in preparation for cooking. About 3/4 the way through, just before she was going to take the heads off and drain the blood out, then gut them…they woke up, and we had two naked chickens running about. Their metabolism had quickly gotten them passing out drunk, and Gran thought they died from alcohol poisoning…but just as quickly, they came out of their drunken stupors…and were quite unimpressed.🖤🇨🇦
I'm mildly upset by the fact that they have to blur that scientifically significant but yet people can come on to this website and post videos of torturing animals death and TH-cam won't do anything
I suppose you could train a parrot to do certain tasks (they’re very willful and would probably refuse unless you have a very close bond though!) However the core part of falconry is working together to hunt prey. Parrots don’t hunt but perhaps they could have a partnership with humans foraging for fruits or grains.
People that have birds really need to educate themselves on proper diet. Too may people also give a bunch of seeds and no fruit or veg when seeds should only be a little part of the diet not the main!!
I paused my watching...because I have a hunch. Sunflower seeds are fatty/oily. Maybe Pretty just has a lipoma, a fatty tumor, mostly Fat cells. Update..yep, I was right, I made a proper guess because I used to watch Dr. Pimple Popper and I learned a lot about lipomas from her.
just to anyone who has a bird or wants a bird, they need to eat fruits and vegetables, sunflower seeds are very full of oils and theyre not a source of enough nutrition for the bird. in the wild birds would be eating fruits so please do the research
As aviculturists for over 40 years, we cannot stress enough that all birds require a diet suited to their species' requirements and as natural as possible - without human foods (or liquids!) Sunflower seeds are too high in oil and feeding them as a sole food is like giving a growing child a nonstop diet of takeaway fastfoods.
The man loves his bird for sure but the bird is really stressed. Unless there’s something wrong with the bird and he’s losing all his feathers. Or plucking I don’t know.
Yup sounds like me trying to drop a few pounds..You can do it Pretty..you have to get healthy sweetheart. Now its up to your dad to stop sneaking the treats
Why has the bird picked alot of his feathers. That shows that something is wrong, generally mentally. Also, do he let his owner pick him up. Seems to me he's a little bored? There's no doubt thought that that this man loves him. I'm confused
Happens a lot with older birds, even if they are happy, it's basically a sign that they are a bit depressed and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it.
he loves the bird but i dont think the bird loves him. pretty looks like hes stress plucking. and this guy has had him for 40 years- and he couldnt even research the correct diet?? im so confused
The love he has for that bird is phenomenal
Agreed. To have the same animal for 40ish years is amazing because they are a lot of work to take care of. To see the dedication and to want to talk to the bird over the phone while away is really cool to see.
Watch this guy on TV he's Amazing ❤❤❤
The look on Doc Chris' face when Maurizzio starts confessing, lol.

Aww I’m so sorry for your loss. Sounds like you gave your dog a beautiful life. Bless You ❤️
😢😢😢😢
This just proves how important it is to feed your bird a proper diet!!
Or, hear me out; don't keep birds of this type as pets. Parrots and similar birds have needs that 90% of people can't meet. It's cruelty, plain and simple.
@@sammygirl6910 You def have to be the right type of person to own a parrot. It can be done though
with such a diet, I am very surprised this bird lived to this age
Dr Chris is like a Vet angel . Savior of these pets. Thanks Bondi vet for these compilations.
He sure is! Record him,4 my birdie n myself ❤
My aunt has a bird, umbrella cocatoo, and I can tell by how she handles her bird with such love that this guy really loves his bird! 😁
This bird should notre live alone . He has nothing to do, except when his owner comes to see him
It’s honestly a miracle that Pretty has lived so long.

Reality here is its VERY difficult to change a birds diet. Good luck Pretty!
Most of us with birds, get very passionate about them. My birds have become an obsession. Especially my cockatiel Charlie. Birds have a way of getting into our hearts and souls.
Hello there
he grew up with that bird that is so sweet. please do what the vet says.🥰
I'm so happy I gave my bird greens straight away! I hope Pretty & his human have a very long happy life!
His feathers were so much brighter after the diet change!!!
His skin was less red so that helped.
The doctor with a golden heart and. .... hair

Omgosh! Can't believe he's back😂
Pretty, is a GOOD boi!
Hopefully, Pretty will b around for many more years❤❤❤
I've seen this bird and very caring owner you have done a good job teaching.
And wow what a difference that diet worked great i wish i could shrink the one i have in my pancreas chemo sucks Congratulations to Pretty and his Dad well done
Good luck, Paula. I'm waiting for confirmation that my cancer has returned, which is looking very likely.
What a beautiful bird. And a healthier one now.
Good job doc you saved a life God bless you always idol!!!!
This is 1 of the best vets❤
What I don’t understand is how little people know about how to care for their animals and how long they will let health problems continue before they search out the advice of a vet.
My parrot loves pasta too, but I had to cut it out for his own good. But it was hard...lol
Less of it and higher fiber maybe
Maybe one plain whole grain or veggie pasta noodle as a treat for birthdays?
Dr. Chris is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! so smart, gifted & a wonderful person!!!
Those greens chris gave to the bird look so tasty... I think hes still eating like a king despite less fat in his diet xD
What a great video, chris is such an amazing vet. Its amazing how quickly the bird recovered after being on a proper diet.
That’s fantastic well done Dr Chris for helping out this bird and how u made it go down to nothing with change of diet was amazing
What a wonderful dad he is!!!❤❤❤ this beautiful baby ❤❤❤
Dr Chris is awesome. Is Pretty having an issue with the feather loss in the neck and chest area in addition to his lipoma?
With the featherloss area looks like stress plucking
It can be caused by stress and his horrible diet
I was wondering why no more fruits. Along with the greens and millet. That was surprising how the tumor shrunk. That’s amazing!
Fruits are extremely high in sugars that metabolize into fat
I think it's amazing how much our lives and the animals we call family and love as are so paralleled .. kudos Doc Chris
This shows how important a good diet is for pet birds!
So happy for them
I have an American Gray parrot and I love him so much
Do you mean African Grey? There aren't any North American parrots anymore
Isn’t dr Chris amazing,so clever with a beautiful soul
💕Some people are there own worst enemy where there pets health is concerned💕
Very true!
Hey Dr.Chris! Love the work you're doing, I hope you keep on saving animals !! ♥

I wish my budgie, Sapphire, was more sociable. She's a bitey little bird.
I'm mildly upset by the fact that they have to blur that scientifically significant but yet people can come on to this website and post videos of torturing animals death and TH-cam won't do anything
That is hysterical that he feeds his bird steak, pasta and cannolis.
what a sweet bird

Sort of hard to do in a pandemic
I'm addicted to Bond Vet and I'm still watching ones I have Never seen!
yes. from season 6
Eat your greens! lol
Acho que na mente do veterinário está assim a cada confissão do tutor: 😳😡😖😅😭
Fiquei chocada com o bife.
Parabéns pelo impecável trabalho 👏
That bird owner ain’t gonna follow instructions. He’s not.
Wonder which was the most disappointed with the new diet.😉
The Doctore made Pretty an offer he couldn’t refuse!
He feeds his bird like if the birds a dog .
He loves pasta . Lol 😂
Relieving not to see swollen nuclei in the Galah cell sample.
Que lindo, eu animais! Menos cobras mais também não mato.
Ahhhh loved this show.
The Bird is Eating Like a King!
Maurizio could probably benefit enormously on a personal level, by sharing his bird's diet ... lots more greens, lot less pasta etc.
Oh Mouritzio! That kind of people food for a bird is never good. Take good care and feed him healthy food.
Hello Maggie
"We took a biopsy. It's FAT."
Would it be possible to do a parrot version of falconry too?
I suppose you could train a parrot to do certain tasks (they’re very willful and would probably refuse unless you have a very close bond though!) However the core part of falconry is working together to hunt prey. Parrots don’t hunt but perhaps they could have a partnership with humans foraging for fruits or grains.
4:51 I can see a black cat :)
Yes! Cat!
Pretty, is the perfect name😊❤
Second, I love this btw. (By this I mean watching bondi vet and bondi rescue)
I love him too.
Why on earth is the slide prep blurred?
Isn't properly formulated parrot pelleted food available in OZ?

What kind of a bone head feeds a bird 🐦 pasta? How about we cage him & only feed him donuts & cake?

That a lot of plucked feathers, though...now the tumour had gone down, figure out what's stressing the poor bird

Such a Beautiful bird deserve to be around a lot longer. Glad the healthy diet has worked. If it done that to humans I would give it a go.

Are they just censoring the needle so it doesn’t scare anybody? There’s other videos with shown needles.
The man loves his bird for sure but the bird is really stressed. Unless there’s something wrong with the bird and he’s losing all his feathers. Or plucking I don’t know.
ever thought of the diet being the culprit? The owner was feeding the bird human food.... that's a huge no no
Pretty should get veggie chop and lots of bird toys to take out his frusration on… ☺️
Why was it blured?
kids watching, etc?
Why didn’t he mention the feathers falling out at all?
Yup sounds like me trying to drop a few pounds..You can do it Pretty..you have to get healthy sweetheart. Now its up to your dad to stop sneaking the treats
Well he's doing something right because that bird is old!!!
If only there was a way to stop them ripping their feathers out. Doesn’t matter what the bond. Birds get anxiety and start plucking
That poor bird. He’ll end up killing that bird.
Eeg feeding, and company
Why has the bird picked alot of his feathers. That shows that something is wrong, generally mentally. Also, do he let his owner pick him up. Seems to me he's a little bored? There's no doubt thought that that this man loves him. I'm confused

he loves the bird but i dont think the bird loves him. pretty looks like hes stress plucking. and this guy has had him for 40 years- and he couldnt even research the correct diet?? im so confused
