Your riding style seems to work in NY where clearly traffic laws are optional, but where I live if I did what you're doing I wouldn't be riding long. Either license pulled or inattentive driver would end it all for me.
Your 100% right! TBH if I had a different bike and/or in a different area outside of NYC, I would ride like this neither. If you came to New York, you would see how inconsistent the traffic lights are and how slow and selfish other drivers are. It makes you want to just MOVE. The one thing I know NOT TO DO is speed because of "inattentive drivers" either not seeing me, hearing me or not caring and just opening doors, switching lanes and etc.

Genuinely trying to move either to the country side of New Jersey or upstate New York! I want open roads, lakes, more bars and restaurants, just more peace and open space!!! The city is cool because everything is easy to get to, but its not something I want forever!!!
Gas prices in NYC are about the same as NJ now. I remember they used to be ALOT higher than here. I can remember hundreds of NYC taxis lining up at gas stations in Jersey City to buy gas until the taxi commission put a stop to it. Even with the toll, it was still cheaper than buying in Manhattan.
I’ll never buy gas in manhattan! I mean my tank takes $10 93 octane so I’m good with that, compared to filling up my car which is around $40 regular.

I got the bike specifically because of the handlebars. I thought it would be too tall but these are 10inch meathook handlebars and they are perfect because Im 5'10

There are. NYPD To be honest hate bikes, they don't care if its a Cruiser, Moped, anything with a motor, they are on you like a hawk! But what they don't do is CHASE. If they can block you off without you knowing, they will block you, take your keys, then take your bike.
We used to ride in the wee small hours of the morning downtown in the financial district. Back when nobody lived there, it was just office buildings and on Sunday morning's it was deserted and all ours.
Now, alot of those buildings are residential and way more people on weekends so it's not the same.
I don’t ride that early because my bike is LOUD AS HELL! I could be one of those riders who don’t give two sh**s but I have some consideration for the public.
