    I'm not sure if you'll actually see this comment but I'm kind of stuck at the very first step. The track solids do not really stay around the place they have to, after a few frames they start to float off, am I supposed to put set keys? If so, after I parent all the solids to the ground, all the solids float around again, again maybe a bad idea to rely on this for a final project as a newbie. But I genuinely wanted to learn.

  • @shanecook9528
    @shanecook9528 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dumb question here, but how do i get rid of the colorful solids while attaining the data it holds? (I'm trying to hide an element behind it for a few frames.)

      I've got that problem too! Trauling the comments to see if anyone has the solution. Everyone saying how great normalizing is, but it seems to totally wreck all my planes. Urgh...

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the groundplane solid you align at the beginning doesn't have uniform scale, parenting the other solids and camera could have adverse effects. That seems to be a common issue.

    Very impressive! Thanks for such a great tutorial.
    However, you're missing a key element from real-world UW Photography: Sharpness, color and luminosity all fade proportionally to depth and distance (also depending on visibility conditions).
    For more realistic results you should consider that the further away something is from the camera, the less definition you get, no exceptions. That and "backscatter", which are suspended particles in the water.

    Hashi, This is an AWESOME tut! However, the water reflection trick (w/ the dancer) doesn't seem to work with Mir3. I brought in a movie for the reflection but 1.// Mir looked at it like it was a STILL image (things were definitely moving in the clip!) and 2.// CC Tiler had no impact whatsoever:\ Obviously, Mir's been changed since this tutorial and I thought, maybe there's a new, built-in attribute that mimics what CC Tiler did. I couldn't find it. I also tried pre-comping the reflection clip but that had no impact. Anyway, I'm going to 'Plan B' (whatever that may be). Thanks nonetheless, for an amazing tutorial!

    • @theActionMovieKid
      @theActionMovieKid 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - I used the term "Normalize" kinda uniquely here, and I think I'm the only one who calls it that in this instance. Usually 'normalizing' refers to automatically scaling a 3D object to be a size relative to the other objects in the scene, or the world space - and I felt like that's KINDA what I'm doing here. I know I go a little bit fast in these videos because I'm covering a lot of ground, but hopefully you have enough to make it work for you!

      Yep - They knew I was good at Particular, and it seemed to be the best approach for the shots I worked on. Earlier than that, I developed an After Effects-based lighting and texturing Rig for their 2D characters, so in scenes like the "Cover is not the Book' song, they could have different colored lights and rims that looked drawn/painted. Really, Jason Stovall and the whole team at Ken Duncan Studios knocked it out of the park for the fantasy sequences.

    so at 7:57 you scale the Floor... but how does THAT make the BlackSolid2 bigger or smaller. I tried doing it, but just the Floor got bigger or smaller. What am I missing? Kinda confused here...

    Such tutorials are more fun to watch than the actual movie itself:-) Man there are tons of AE tricks which I never ever knew existed and you guys are some freaking wizards who have mastered all such techniques in VFX. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge...Respect!

    Cannot WAIT to try that 3D normalization trick...moving about a scene with a scale of 270000 is just the worst. That sir, is what i call a cheap trick. you sir, are what i call a red giant. This sir, is what i call the end of my comment.

    I hear La Mer by Debussy in the background in the last third of the video. You have great taste in music.

    You know how I know Adobe sucks and doesn't care? None of this is built in even though Red Giant has been pimping their programs for years. Having to pay thousands extra for 3rd party software to get good results is a shame as far as they go as a company. This is cool but no point in watching when I can't afford all the plugins to do this.

    Dnag AE is so cool, but so much more info and data to learn compared to photoshop. Ive been using Photoshop for about 20 years now and always wanted to learn AE. But its really hard to keep al that info when i do this just for fun. I need to do this more often so i remember the info :)

    It is a pity there is nowhere anywhere in the video, which shows BEFORE and AFTER the lesson. As a result, we learn at random.
