I tend to see accountants online (especially on Reddit) talk about their cozy work from home jobs in which they work 10-20 hours a week for a lot of the time, except for the busy weeks. It sounds too good to be true and honestly makes me intrigued in accounting. Even if I have to work 30-35 hours, it’s no issue as long as I can do it from home.
I think his experience is more for ex auditors. Accountants that started their career in industry have a complete different outlook on the accounting profession
Correct, you basically have to get a masters. Another way to look at it, is because it takes so long to get qualified. Accounting is a regulated profession which protects job security and salary potential.
Thank you brother, interesting points raised, allowed me to think whether to still pursue accounting. May well do in the future but for now going to go through other monetary avenues. Keep it up, interesting to hear what you've learnt from your experience thus far.👍
Salam brother I am so happy to see your video today, mash Allah. I am a woman who has 33 years, and have three children I was a house wife when I was in my home country, I came to U.S I stat school now I am about to graduate. however, now I want to study Accounting when I discuss with my friends and family they discouraged that you could not do it, I am here to ask you Accounting is that much hard? I believe that anyone who want to do something they could do it, please please give me your valuable advice!
I’ve done a video on this it’s not as simple as saying you’re an accountant so you deal with internet - it depends on your responsibilities- check out do accountants deal with interest
Can you do a vid on whether to go down the ACCA or CIMA route as am not sure on which qualification to take up in my accounting career so far 🤔 Ja’Zak’Allah khair 🙏
I can sum it up for you CIMA is more for business decision making, financial controllers and retail companies like Tescos costa etc.. that look at budgeting and financial forecasts etc. Acca is more for technical accountants that understand the Intricacies of financial statements, journals, GL and can set up their own financial statements. Both are good but valuable depending on the industry you work in.
Wa alaykum as Salam in shaa allah I’ve got some plans for that coming soon! In the meantime I talk about my experiences in practice that will give you a holistic overview! Vid is called Working in Practice....I also recommend watching the internal audit series on my channel
Wa alaykum as salam so depending on the qualifications the person has they can either take a graduate route, apprenticeship, or with no qualifications. There are three videos on these routes on my channel which should help. If you have any questions still I'd recommend sending me a message on Instagram.
Salaams I’m abit confused from what you said at 0:58 . Why does it take an extra 3-4 years after you graduate to become a qualified accountant, I thought you’re qualified when you graduate ?
Wa alaykum as salam to become a chartered accountant you need around 3 years of relevant work experience which you don’t gain at university and you need to pass exams on top too, if you’ve studied a relevant degree you may get be entitled to some exemptions from the exams.
@@FehzanMehdiah right , but are you not still a qualified accountant when you finish university? I thought you’re still classed as a qualified accountant when you graduate and then a qualified chartered accountant when you pass the other exams after uni ?
@@SilverbackA No you're not. Any person can call themself an accountant, by doing a degree it doesn't make you "qualified". What you may think of as qualified may be different to the next person's understanding. The qualifications which differentiate you as a chartered / chartered certified / chartered management etc. accountant are the ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS etc.
Hi , I’m currently studying busniess/sports science in university , but I’m now thinking I want to become a accountant would you recommend leaving and doing accounting or is it still possible if I graduate with a different degree , thank you sir

I definitely think that’s too good to be true idk many if any accountants who work 10-20 hours per week
I've heard 60+ per week for months at a time then ~40 for the rest of the year.
