  • This is the third video for out-fish-her and it features our first real summer mission.
    It's safe to say that summer is here. How better to celebrate it than with a surf mission. Wolfie, Franna and I head out to target whatever was biting, which luckily for me was only apex predators. Having only started fishing for ineds last summer, I could use the practice. I hope you enjoy watching me go into a Bronzie fight a little undergunned but it was all incredibly worth it. This episode features some cool insights into the lives of these copper sharks, and what we can do to minimise our impact when shark fishing - because ultimately we want to keep the fishery sustainable.

    My fav TH-cam fishing channel right now! So glad to have met wolfie, what an awesome fishing friend. Love your passion and the perfect smile. Seeing you this happy makes me happy. Super educational as usual. I always see the pics of sharks with their jaws pried open. I'll forward this to my collective. Merry Xmas too and big hugs.

    First for me watching your video and i loved it. Very different from other videos. Loved the ending very informative. Today with the drones everyone became a shark angler...end result very poorly handled skates and sharks. Kept out the water too long..dragged up the beach..turned upside down or on their sides...even sitting onbthe sharks just for photos. Its really sad.

      Totally agree with you! As technology improves we have to make sure that our handling improves with it. Or else we're just making a catch and release fishery unsustainable.

    That Doggo really did get a guardian angel and now lives the best life with you 2 wonderful humans.
    So lekka to be able to do some vicarious fishing. Maybe one day myself and Ash will make a mission and join you, been 10 years since last I made a throw.
    Thanks Viv and Franna for the superb content.

    Naaaice catch Viv and a good biology lesson for all. Like the sound affects when you were fighting the bronzie.
    Wishing you, Franna and doggo all the best for the year ahead.

    awesome video. and great catch on the livebait. your response at 7:47 was spot on haha. plus great work on landing that shark despite a really close call on the spool. i like ur shark info that u put out too. its sad how not much people show enough respect for the sharks

      So glad you liked it. We often don't realise how fragile these "hardcore" predators are.

    Hello Viv, great video! It's the first time I'm watching your videos and I'm enjoying it so far. Just wanted to know what is your setup for sharks?

    • @viviennedames
      @viviennedames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for being so kind! Casting baiting for sharks is all about distance. I use my Assassin HXL special or my new Championship Edition 6. These rods are hardcore but still light and make easy work of casting big baits. For reels I like using the Penn Slammer 8500 because it's heavy duty, has great line capacity and is a low maintenance reel in general. Then braid I like 50lb JDB ultra tough with 180lb JDB surf leader. Hope that helps 🙌🏼

    Hi just out of intrest sake what does one do if you catch a tagged fish within your keeper slot?

    • @viviennedames
      @viviennedames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! If you've kept a tagged fish within your bag and size limits that's fine. You should still report it to ORI and under where it says "fate of fish" you say you've kept it. No judgement, but the fish still contributes data as we can still know where that fish moved from and how much it's grown.
