I don't think you guys understand the reason why people don't know much about your principal dancers - it's because there's nothing available out there online. The reason why Osipova has such a fanbase? Talent, of course, but also because there's millions of videos of her online. I'm obsessed with Frankie Hayward (as a young black balletomane, she's a big deal for me) but I live in Australia, and I'm never going to be able to see her live or in recordings. It's a little unfair to limit your audience, don't you think?
Peoples in administration of long standing institutions like ballet and theater have always been low-key elitist. They need to send a social.media team in and do video profiles of dancers, BTS videos, interviews, teasers, etc to keep up with the times.
stahp pls New York City Ballet actually does a pretty good job of what you're saying. You might want to check out their channel and FB page. The "Anatomy of a Dance " videos are wonderful.

What a truly terrible loss for the Royal Ballet. Sergei was such a huge talent; and a mesmerising and charismatic dancer. No coincidence that Tamara chose him to partner her in her farewell performance. Having been through the RB school, could the RB not have seen and dealt sympathetically with his problems?
I don't RB lost a lot. Sergei is talanted, but he's never wanted working hard. Probably he could get the Baryshnikov's level. But Sergei chose to post in his instagram account how he loves putin and got a fake carrer in russia instead became a real great ballet artist.

He prefers working with smaller, more independent companies where he has more creative control and variety. Fair play to him. And he’s always been very complimentary to the Royal Ballet School for the foundations they gave him.

Sergei showed his gentleman like personality, especially when she sat on the chaise lounge and he gently but mindfully scooped the lace of her dress aside so he didn't sit on it. I also love the way their chemistry molded together; it was like watching two swans dance!

Id been lucky enough to see him from the start of his career right through his time at the RB and saw him doing his own thing after he left. Fonteyn and Nureyev were marvelous, spectacular, and unique in the own rights. I don't think it's fair to compare Rojo and Polunin to each of because they're dancers in their own right as well and so much has changed throughout the years in terms of technique expected from dancers. Also, I believe that there doesn't need to be a debate on whether Sergei is the new whoever and we should just let him be Sergei Polunin. Each dancer has their own uniqueness and we should focus on that instead to pitting themselves against one another.
"'She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me." We need a P&P ballet, or else what is the point of life? Someone better get to making it, or I am going to throw hands.
Great partnership, wonderful chemistry. One day Rojo and Polunin should dance together again. It would be interesting because they have both grown so much as artists since this point in their careers. Absolutely sublime!
I have the dvd, so am going to watch later. Rojo is particularly stunning. She embodies the character so fully, it is sublimely danced and she looks absolutely stunning in the costume. It takes your breath away when you first see her. The black hair updo reminds you of Fonteyn when you see her. It would be great if she could be asked to do it for one more time. Perhaps the Royal could do a swap of performers for a couple of shows? Would that sort of thing work? I know O'Hare has tried to forge links across ballet companies. Perhaps Vadim could return for a couple of shows at ENB?

the switches between naturalistic and classical movement are very compelling and have a cinematic intensity.

It's very moving to know this ballet was created for Nureyev & Fonteyn.
Marvelous video, not only the choreography but the acting behind it . Not to mention design behind it all. This video gave such a sweet feeling.
