Disney's treatment of this series has been exasperating! First, they announced that there would be no season two before they'd really given the series a chance to gain an audience. Then, inexplicably, they included it in the fifty or so titles that would simply be removed from the streaming site when Willow the series was barely six months old, and with no plan to market it even as a DVD series for purchase. In other words, they simply decided to disappear the new series as if it never existed. Meanwhile, they are still offering the original movie on their Disney+ site for streaming. The decisions regarding the series actually seem somehow punitive, as if they were resentful of Kasdan's, and fan's, insistence that the series continue. Is Willow the series a great work of art? No, of course not. But it is charming and quirky and compelling in all the ways that make for an enduring fan favorite, given time to grow in viewership. A scan through the inane offerings that continue on Disney+ makes the decision to completely remove viewer access to Willow all the more nonsensical.
There is a hint in the trailer that there may be more to Kit & Jade's relationship, than friendship so we might be getting two love stories, instead of one, which is great & there's plenty of room to explore these relationships at length. As long as this is handled suitably & with respect, I'm on board. Anyway, looking forward to the series as well what as these three young ladies bring to the show.

Was there a quota for non-British characters that needed to be filled?

Idk for sure but maybe to make her seem like she was from the kingdom because if she talked different it would seem like she was from another kingdom
because she didn’t grow up knowing she was elora she was raised by other cooks so she probably got their accent and the writers didn’t want any suspicion on her identity

In hindsight I was blown away with the show so far but for the wrong reason, sadly.

It's March 2023, and Willow has been canceled after one season. The show sucked, and it *didn't* blow anyone away.
Actually, it blew away more than half of this comment section before it was all the way out, and its not cancelled. The actors just got offered other roles, and they haven't finished writing the script for season two yet.
Why do they pick writers and actors or actresses who don't even like the source material and it comes through by the way they totally disrespect the show and turn it into mediocre crap... Willows only on episode 3 and it's already painted by numbers super boring with absolutely no originality so many jokes written off from other movies it's sad.
They like and respect the source material more than you.

This show was utterly trashy. It was terribly written and acted. Only blood origin was worse.
I think you’re also forgetting that they’re young and Willow was a pretty big movie etc so it’s a big shoe too fill, I personally really loved it, but it’s not for everyone no but that’s how it is
