Congratulations Miriam for getting sponsorship from Rosette Stone to sponsor its language product. You do make the most interesting videos of life in rural China with your lovely family and in-laws
Miriam, please tell your mother-in-law that her respect and care for who you are, is crystal clear to viewers. When you asked which was better, the meat or vegetarian pizza, she said "equally good". Irrespective of whether that is kindness or her actual opinion, I appreciate how she builds you up and in doing so, is a wonderful role-model for other mothers-in-law. Some in the West may think that it is preferrable to be honest, irregardless of context as otherwise is duplicitous, but respect for others as a priority over personal opinion (which is considered private) is a hallmark of Chinese (and more broadly Asian) communication that I can understand and appreciate.
It’s so cool that, not only are you learning about Chinese culture and food, you are teaching them about other cultures and foods. It’s a win-win for everybody! 😘❤️👍🏼👍🏼
I recently find your channel. You videos are so heart warming and interesting, village seems so picturesque, you in-laws are so adorable. These videos make my heart smile. Thank you.
Miriam, I'm also married to a person that has a complete different culture of my own. Your relationship with your spouse inspires me. You are always so encouraging and 包容!I am learning a lot from you and from your family in Qinghai, too! Best wishes from the U.S.
Your pizza looks very tasty! I love that all of you look so happy and are enjoying life together! You should be an ambassador, Miriam! You really are good with languages and people! Good vibes!!
Ooooh, Miriam, your cooking options just got so much more varied. Enjoy! I have to say that your family have to be the sweetest people anywhere. Thankyou for sharing your journey!
The cheese on this pizza looked more like actual mozarella than the cheese in the first video, which looked a little harder/less creamy than mozarella. That could've attributed to the better flavor everyone seemed to like, even though you didn't use a yeast-based crust. Making mozarella at home is very easy as long as you have the (3) dry ingredients and a food thermometer on hand at home, then you just need milk. Gavin Weber has a good quick mozarella recipe on his TH-cam channel. Looks like you all had a great time! 😊
@@MiriamFollin Here's a quick recipe for mozarella: th-cam.com/video/4VbuBcNCgAc/w-d-xo.html I keep the three special ingredients on hand for this (and for a couple of other soft cheeses I like - they can all be stored in a cupboard/pantry). In most cases , even in the U.S, where these cheeses arevreadily found, it's easier to make the soft kind of cheeses than going to the store. The soft cheeses are the easiest type of cheese to make and don't need aged. I often make ricotta, creme fraiche and goat cheese (aka chevre) - especially when I can get get fresh grass-fed cow or goat milk from a local Virginia farm. It's also a great inexpensive solution when your somewhere in the world that doesn't use a lot (or any) cheese - or you just want to know what's in your food. I once made mozarella on the fly in the mountains of Afghanistan and then made everyone awesome outdoor pizzas. With your own mozarella and ricotta you could make Yonghang some of that baked lasagna his face lit up about when talking about your Mom's lasagna, lol Also, in case it may be of interest to you, as a Plan B for an oven that you could pop-up at home in your backyard, would be a solar oven you could pop-up in your yard out of cardboard or wood and line it with tinfoil (or mirrors) to bake just like an electric oven....solar ovens will bake anything...lasagna, breads, cakes, pastry, or seafood, whatever. (YT has a lot of videos on how to make & use a solarboven ) You can even bake outside in the winter, as long as the sun is out. The overall cooking time is about 25% more than an indoor electric/gas oven. Have fun with all of your Christmas preparations! 🎄💂♀️🎅🤶☃️❄
Thank you Miriam for sharing your lovely Chinese family into the world. As a Chinese, I am happy to see that you feel cozy and surrounded by real family love! I also want to thank you for introducing Europe culture into the rural village, my spouse is come from Xining and now we are both your followers. There are many kind hearted mother-in-laws in Chinese family and Miriam 's mother-in-law is one of them. They have all the virtues and characteristics of Confucious' s phylosophy. It is warm hearted to see such a caring and happy family living together under one roof, which is now slowly affected by today's changing society that placed more values on self and individuality. Being kind hearted, considerate and always enjoy sharing is the key to a loving family. Miriam's family has it all. We all can feel it just by watching her videos.
