Season 3 Episode 1: In 1990, a 14-year-old girl ran away from her Texas home and disappeared; six months later, her body was found hundreds of miles away in an Illinois barn. Agents tracked down a trucker who they believed was responsible for over 50 murders. Investigators knew they had to stop this menace of the highways.

Ooh, yes. It's ok to kill us, but not them

The system does not know this , some will say it was not me , thats true true. But now its insanity . Because courts will not believe they have other entities.
When the first woman escaped she said he stopped at a brewery to pick up a load. Wouldn't that brewery know the trucking company and that trucking company know who the driver was? This could have all ended right there?
Yep would have been easy to get the complete list of all truckers that pickup that morning.
Selfish stupidity!!!! 👎🏼
Lazy ass cops

Well, maybe that is how they found him in the first place but the victim would not id him.
It still baffles me how so many people continue to hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers in this day and age. RIP to those that weren't able to escape this monster's wrath.
LIS LOVESYA with all due respect, public transit is not widely available throughout the entire world. For instance, there are still isolated areas of Canada and Mexico where public transit doesn’t exist. When you have to go to work or school and you don’t have a car and no one you know does, you may just have no choice but to hitchhike. It’s horrible but it is the reality that some people have to life.
@@jaybrink3103 , alot of rural area's in Texas has no public transportation either, we know and teach our young no hitchhiking ask a friend or someone we know for a ride,PERIOD!
Jay Brink exactly. My son missed the school bus and I was 50 miles away at work. Walking home isn’t an option in these rural parts and I don’t know many ppl here. Thankfully I met a nice lady Lyft driver. We are just getting traffic lights out here 🤦🏽♀️...I see ppl walking out here often. Out here in these woods and with zero street lights and sidewalks. Cruel ppl out here,
It depends on the circumstances. I only hitchhiked once, but I was not alone, there were 4 of us and it was just a couple of miles. Still, risking riding alone with a complete stranger is indeed quite a substantial gamble. Most people won't actually hurt you, but predators are still out there.
I am female and whenever I see another woman/girl hitchhiking, I stop and if her destination isn't farther than 20miles away (which is a lot for Europe), I take her there.
Always quality crime scene reenactments on FBI Files 👌
I felt really sorry for Ricky-Lee Jones! He was murdered by this creep in a desert, and his family did not even think enough of him to file a missing person's report. Nice family!
and then they closed his case without even trying to solve it as soon as his body was found with a bullet hole in his skull. Just another disposable male.
Yeah, disgusting parents.
Why he has sexual experience with a 14 year old girl who didn’t realize that what she was doing was wrong because of that fact that she was 14 years old he probably was going to continue doing that because anyone would has sex with a 14 year old is a sick son of bitch so I feel like justifying that act because he could have done something like this too some other people
You cannot judge my friend.
The fact that they didn't care says as much about him as it does about them. Even slime can be murdered.

@@JustAThought155 Regina had a history of running away. Sadly, she picked the wrong Tim's to run off with her boyfriend this time. Rhoades murdered her and Ricky Jones. She didn't deserve what Rhoades did to her, none of them did. He wanted Jones out of the way to torture Regina
No matter how inappropriate her conduct might be for her age, nobody deserves to have happen what happened to her, and nobody is at fault but the perpetrator.
You just didn't have rebellious kids going through puberty, crazy combination, huge surges of hormones. I guarantee that you wouldn't have stopped me. I used to run away at 14 and there would be nothing you could've done. I wanted adventures. Ran away 10 times, each time my family found me, I can't even imagine how, since I myself didn't know where i would end up. I'd meet random people and stay with them. Sometimes would end up in some building basements (this was all in st Petersburg , Russia and that's where bad kids would hang out at in the 80s. Drink, smoke, drugs, sex). Other times many miles away, once was put into nationwide search, went to a few diff cities, then in the mountains. How my dad kept finding me baffles me to this day.
But each time they found me, brought me home and in a few months I'd be gone again, with no reason. I had a good loving family, I just wanted out.

There are more rights for suspects and convicts than for victims. So I doubt they would ever do this. And they'd have access to protective custody.
You would have a bloodbath, look up 1980 New Mexico state prison riot, not only was inmates beheaded but burned with acetylene torches. When it was over guards and inmates alike had been tortured for days. The worst riot in history. He said, she said??? I guess pictures, tools, a screaming, handcuffed lady in his truck WASN'T ENOUGH!!! 😠
@Valincia Pruitt the criminal charges on trial *were only for the woman found in the truck by the trooper* so only the material and proof connected to her case will be allowed to be presented in court, the pictures were from others women, not her, the tools were in his apartment same for the women dress robes that belonged to others victims, all of this cannot be presented in court as proofs for the abduction and imprisonement of the woman in the truck because it’s not connected to her specific case. In addition there was the problem that the woman in the truck, due to the trauma or others not related causes had mental health problems and her report was clear about what happened but at the same time her testimony could be difficult to be believed due to her strange affirmation not regarding the case, the trooper testimony was limited to what he was able to see and know at the moment of the arrest, Rhoades instead was a well experienced psychopath that has previous criminal history (misdemeanors) since high school but was never caught for felonies or stayed in jail long time. He was able to convince their victims that wasn’t dangerous to get a ride on his truck, by one photo of Regina, and the description of others, not mentioned victims escaped, his truck was spotless extremely clean inside the seating area like brand new, and he never revealed his true self before being sure to be safe enough to attack the victims, at first he appeared extremely trustworthy.
Bottom line in a trial the only proof that can be presented are the ones directly related to the case prosecuted. He wasn’t still linked to Regina Kay Walters Ricky Lee Jones, Patricia Candance Walsh Zyzkowski and her husband Douglas Scott Zyzkowski, the last two victims preceded Jones and Walters, but Douglas Scott Zyzkowski was found in El Paso in 1990 and identified in 1992 Patricia Candace Walsh Zyzkowski was found in central Utah in 1990 but identified only in 2003.
Ricky Lee Jones remains were found in 1991 in Lamar County, Mississippi but identified only in 2008.
Rhoades is suspected to have killed an average of 3 women at month, with a total of 50 suspected victims, males or females, all across the USA. The Modus Operandi was gunshot in the back of the head for the males as soon as possible then dump the body and detention of the females for an average of 7-10 days, then the women were killed via garrote.

No. That would not work. It's not that simple. The detectives know how freight is shipped and therefore didn't waste their time.
Regina had to be thinking during this ordeal .." My homelife wasn't so bad after all " ....she was just a rebellious , stupid kid (we all were at 14 or 15) ...r.i.p.

It's very scary to know that it does happen, its worst when you find out it's someone you know that was hitchhiking . I feel for the parents that it happens to .
I HAVE to pause for a moment to say how amazing these actors and actresses are on this show!
The picture of that girl Regina Walters is among the most haunting photographs on the planet. Because we know, as she knew... her fate was going to be awful. We know now that the human pile of trash, Robert Rhoades taunted her, forcibly chopped her hair off, made her wear some creepy dress, and told her she was going to die... It's just horrendous. I believe torture should be used in criminal cases where we know with incontrovertible evidence a man is guilty of a crime with extreme cruelty. Eye for an eye. It doesn't have to be violent torture... but he should be put in a cell and given water and just forced to slowly starve to death... people like that should be placed in their own future tomb--alive--forced to spend their remaining life thinking of what a shit bag they were.
That poor poor child. I'm haunted by the thoughts of Regina crying for, and begging for, her mother. What a terrifying horrible death...and then to taunt her parents with phone calls of the torture he inflicted upon her before the killing. There is no god but surely there are devils everywhere on this planet.
Immurement was a common practice in medieval times. Sounds perfect for some of these pieces of shit

Seeing these docs, I think I'm very very lucky not to have encountered any of these maniacs, as I was a very libertine girl. At 18 I flew to from Europe to New York and had almost a year of crossing the States, sometimes by Greyhound but mostly hitchhiking, many times I got high with strangers and shared motel rooms and sometimes months passed between phone calls to my parents. its not weird at all, u must be new to the true crime community, in missing persons investigation, random dead, unidentified bodies always pop up somewher.

She's inherently selfish.
I had read a story in GQ magazine written by a woman who had been picked up by this criminal Rhoades. He picked her up as a hitcher, and she narrowly escaped. She had finally many years later become a writer and she traveled to prison to interview him. He denied everything, but she knew of his guilt and did not really expect him to come clean, as it were. It really makes one wonder how many could possibly be out there, unknown to the authorities, as they prey on runaways, prostitutes and similar victims who are not as apt to be high priority, at least in theory if not in practice.
I'm a female trucker & while visiting home 2 little girls from the neighborhood wanted to look inside my truck. I know their mom & I was confident that she wouldn't mind... But... I didn't dare want to train those beautiful little girls to think they could get into someone's truck without their mother's knowledge, & if it were my children, I'd flip if they got inside someone's vehicle, no matter if I knew them or not.
So I told them that they could absolutely look inside of my truck AFTER they went & got permission from their mom, & that she could call me or come with them to see the truck too. And I told them NEVER to get in anyone's car or truck without their mom knowing, no matter if it's a stranger or someone they know!!!!! Period!!!!

He is a perfect example of the thesis of a book published in 2019 called The New Evil: Understanding the Emergence of Modern Violent Crime. The thesis of the book, by authors Gary Brucato, PhD and Michael H. Stone, MD, is that our society sometime in the middle of the 60's (when I was graduating from college, so I saw it happen) Western--and particularly American--society unwittingly traversed a critical threshold--they use the year 1965 as what they call the fulcrum. "Thereafter, profound philosophical, cultural and psychological changes within individuals and in the wider population were increasingly reflected in particularly heinous and spectacular crimes. These had previously been virtually nonexistent across the long history of humankind, outside of wartime." Mass killings (an example of which was avoided just yesterday (12/29/19 at a church in Texas by an armed member), school shootings, fetal abduction (pregnant woman killed for her unborn child), serial homicide and rape have all exploded since the 1960's and during the six decades since. While not limited to our country, these acts have been committed disproportionately in the United States and most are committed by males. This nearly 600 page book delves into the reasons for these turn of events and what the prospect is for the future. Before 1965 we were taught that you owed respect and consideration to others before you demanded the same for yourself. You put God first, others second and yourself third in your priorities. This social emphasis changed almost overnight after 1965 with a huge sense of entitlement where every whim became a right and people with emotional and psychological problems were the worst offenders. A chronology of events year by year through 2019 show the progression of greater and greater levels of chaos beginning with the Watts riots in 1965, the first mass shooting from the UT tower in 1966, serial sexual homicide exploded in 1966, Benjamin Speck killed eight nurses in 1966, and although not mentioned but a good indication of the direction of our culture was the founding of Anton LeVay's Church of Satan in 1966. For additional examples of such outrages research what are called the Hi-Fi Store Murders in Ogden, Utah in 1974 and the crime spree of the Bondurant twins, both sentenced to life and both sadly have been released in their 60's.
Many people learning that religion, is not all it’s cracked it up to be & therefore questioning those beliefs, instead of blindly accepting those beliefs, like the generations before the timeline you mentioned, might have a bit to do with it.
There's just been ever-increasing media coverage over the last few decades, that's all.
There has been sporadic, horrific crime throughout the ages. If you look, there are just as bizarre crimes that happened before the 1960s - you just have to look for them.
According to sociologists, there has actually been a decrease in violent crime since 1972. The difference today is that we live in the information age and are bombarded with information about bizarre crimes all the time from everywhere because it attracts more attention. There a gauche saying in the news media "if it bleeds, it leads."
''Maybe he believed that they didn't care enough about his victims to earn a conviction''
