Because he's sociopathic, it's actually more like:
"You performed the services that my ego required, but then you started to malfunction. I got rid of you because any other resolution, like parting as friends, would mean that you, not I, were in control of the process, which is unacceptable to me. Also, any other resolution would require character traits II don't possess, like empathy, compassion, and a conscience."

Finding drugs in the brother Jerry's possession was vital in the case as he was a known drug user and a gun dealer and in all 50 states no matter if you have a criminal record or not as soon as you have both in your possession or in the same house it automatically becomes a Felony and that is where the say "Guns and Drugs don't mix" comes from but most of the time if you have one or the other it's just a misdemeanor which in some cases can still end up being a serious crime that will land you in jail with a good amount of jail time and can also empty your bank account from a pretty hefty fine along with court cost and lawyer fees if you hire your own attorney and can also cost you your job in most cases so you end up getting screwed over from all directions because you not only have to end up shelling out a whole lot of money for court cost and the fines and fees but you end up with no means of paying all that because you lose your job so eventually they will end up taking your driver's license so then that becomes a whole different problem in itself because then you'll have to pay a bunch of fines to get your license back in the end plus a reinstatement fee so then a bunch of people end up having to drive illegally just to get back and forth to and from work just to pay bills and provide for your family if you're the head of the household but then if you get caught driving with no driver's license then you end up starting the vicious cycle all over again from square one so if anyone learns anything from reading this comment it should be that it's totally not worth breaking the law at all don't even walk a foot outside of the cross walk while crossing the street aka jaywalking and you should always look both ways twice before attempting to cross that same street so ultimately think twice before you even think about breaking the law in anyway

Not only am I from and still live in Delaware, I work for the state and actually met Anne Marie Fahey, a few years before she was murdered. It was at the yearly state dinner and event for the Developmental Disabilities Council at the then Sheraton banquet rooms in the capital of Delaware, Dover DE, where Governor Carper was the keynote speaker. She was pleasant, attractive, bubbly and personable, seemed smart and kind, and made a good impression on all of us. And of course the Capanos’ (there are several brothers) are known in Delaware circles; especially in Greenville, an affluent suburb of Wilmington, De. Some of them are in real estate and construction and own and run businesses here and in Philly. In fact one woman I used to work with had an affair with his brother Joe while he was married! And it went on for years. He was very possessive of her despite being married and when we’d work late she would say “I have to call him every 10 minutes when I work late or he thinks I’m having another affair!” I laughed the first time thinking she was joking. But she wasn’t. When I found out who he was I was like “holy crap, NO WONDER she’s freaked out. She needs to LEAVE”. But I don’t know if she ever did. She had been fighting breast cancer for many years and eventually went out permanently on disability. The Capanos brothers are not only known, but infamous for being thought to have ties to the mob and the Philly underbelly (Philly is only about 10 min. Outside Wilmington, De), and this was long before the horrible murder of poor Anne Marie. When her murder happened and the details and players came out, it rocked our small state of Delaware. Stuff like this just doesn’t happen here. But it was especially shocking because of who she was and both her and Capanos’ standing and positions. By chance I was selected for jury duty when the murder trial started. I had myself recused having formerly met her; thankfully I didn’t have to sit through hearing and seeing the horrible details of her murder. Glad justice was served and he was sentenced to death, although he died of a heart attack before he could be put to death. There are also those that think he was murdered and the heart attack wasn’t by natural causes. Some think it was a mob hit, to stop him from telling what he knew in order to get a reduced sentence of life in prison. Some think It was the Fahey’s revenge. Done because they feared he would get out on appeals. If so, all the better. No one would blame them. Here in Delaware, people still remember her and talk about her fondly and with sorrow about what happened to her. She will never be forgotten here. Edit-Not only do I live 10 min. from Airbase Carpet all the carpets in my house came from there. Yikes.

Thomas Capano took advantage of an emotionally unstable woman. She thought she found love with someone she saw as caring and understanding. As time went on, she saw him for who he really was. Everything she did I believe was to keep the peace with him so he wouldn't ruin her life. Tom took care of her financially and thought she couldn't find a better "love" than him. At the end of her life she was developing high self- esteem and was trying to walk on egg shells to get Capano out of her life. She began rejecting a lot of his "gifts" when she was with Mike Scanlon. Mike made her feel good about herself and showed her real, genuine love and affection. She saw a future with Mike and it gave her more of a reason to get Capano out of her life for good. Unfortunately Anne Marie Fahey wasn't going to be able to do that alive. He planned her murder for months knowing he was losing control of her. He used to make comments about Scanlon to Fahey to boost his own ego. Nobody that wanted to leave him was going to be alive for very long, unless they moved out of Delaware ASAP.
