I’ll never understand how this MD can be so consistently bad at queuing the first “Down” with the orchestra. Like I understand that getting it perfect is hard, but I feel like cuing it late anyways sounds better than early. Early sounds sloppy and clunky
I wonder if it’s a difference in what the actress portraying Elphaba has control over? I feel like in all the early and majority overall American boots there are two certainties: The conductor waits for the hit ON the first “down” There is a broom movement that cues the conductor and brings the ensemble in on the battle cry
I think that a few months into an Elphaba’s contract …(maybe even earlier)… the MD should have a good enough relationship or have heard/seen her enough to know when she’s gonna hit the “down” and be able to cue the orchestra right in the pocket of it. I do agree with your thoughts here and that it can be difficult but at some point you’d think it’d get a little better.
I was at this show! Thank you so much for the audio! The small overhang on the second BMD was so lovely. I adore Alexia, her Elphaba is so incredible!
She's back stronger than ever!
On fire 🔥
What seat was this from? The mix is perfect!!!
I was in A25
Do you have the full audio of the show
Yes I do.
I think you mean 29th of May
Knew I shouldn't have done this when I was tired 😂
