I’ll never understand how this MD can be so consistently bad at queuing the first “Down” with the orchestra. Like I understand that getting it perfect is hard, but I feel like cuing it late anyways sounds better than early. Early sounds sloppy and clunky
I wonder if it’s a difference in what the actress portraying Elphaba has control over? I feel like in all the early and majority overall American boots there are two certainties: The conductor waits for the hit ON the first “down” There is a broom movement that cues the conductor and brings the ensemble in on the battle cry
I think that a few months into an Elphaba’s contract …(maybe even earlier)… the MD should have a good enough relationship or have heard/seen her enough to know when she’s gonna hit the “down” and be able to cue the orchestra right in the pocket of it. I do agree with your thoughts here and that it can be difficult but at some point you’d think it’d get a little better.

when i went on the 10th of April 2024 she did the belt on "die alone" and then this fantastic belt as she strode forward after getting off the bubble at "you're" and "own"

Wicked follows the same pattern as Broadway and the US tour. They don't have shows on Monday

Cast change? Main cast stayed the same.
The principals stayed the same, but they don't just make up the cast. Alot of the ensemble, including wizard and Dillamond did depart.
There was still a change in the cast tho 💀
They were expecting Alexia and Lucy or someone big leave to leave the cast to make a big difference 💀☠️

She went on again Saturday Eve I believe or was it Katie? Because we went last Sat Matinee and had Amy and they said one of the other 2 were on for the evening as Amy wasn’t doing it.

so on west end do they let the understudies perform on their last day at the show?
So her actual last day is the 10th March. This was her final scheduled performance before she leaves.
This is her last show as Elphaba but she was still in the ensemble until Mar 10
she was my first (and only, so far) elphaba and oh my god. she is incredible im so glad i saw her, i saw her first ever show and she's just amazing
