As has been pointed out before, the Doug flag (short for "Douglas fir") was created in Portland, and represents Cascadia, a state that some people want to carve out of coastal Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. It is not a very good icon for Washington State as a whole: it is like representing California with the flag of Jefferson.
If you really want to capture the essence of Washington, you need twins: Western Washington (the liberal who is three minutes older and thus gets all the attention) and Eastern Washington (the conservative "younger" twin who gets very, very annoyed at being ignored by everyone, and is constantly muttering about wanting to be its own state.)

I’ve been to Washington once, to visit my cousins who live there (they used to be missionaries in Kyrgyzstan but moved back to the States). It was fun, a long trip driving across country from Alabama. We stopped in several places on the way up: Cody (to visit the Buffalo Bill Museum), Dodge City (for fun), a lodge in Colorado, near Denver (for a family reunion on the other side of the family), Yellowstone (to see Old Faithful), Glacier (to camp and see glaciers; the couple in the camping plot next to ours were Welsh newlyweds on a trip across America for their honeymoon, and we played National Parks Trivial Pursuit with them), it was fun. When we got to Washington, we went hiking near Mount Rainier. Then we spent several days and nights in Edmunds, exploring Seattle and Pugett Sound by day. On the way back, we spent one night in a tipi at a tipi campsite (which might have been an AirBNB) in view of Devil’s Tower, where we went the next morning.

You got it right on tumble weeds in Eastern Washington! We love our Cougar Cheese just as much as Oregon loves their Tillamook. I grew up on the West side and the description on all the different rains was spot on! I Loved this video! I'm also one of the 70%. The mask mandate was pulled on March 11th. Not having to wear an egg sucking mask was the only reasoning I needed to get vaccinated.

I still wear my mask as I have an Eighty-two year old mother with asthma I'm caring for. I think I'll be wearing it for awhile even though we are both fully vaxed.
