I like to use the mentality of 1/2 the magnification x 100 (400 yards) for an 8x power, as a good gauge of a realistic distance of a scopes capabilities. Double that of you aren’t concerned about identifying your targets or don’t mind missing half or more of your shots. And half of the realistic distance (200 yards) if you want to visually see the hits on paper. 4x power- 200yd/400yd/100yd 6x power- 300yrd/600yd/150yd 8x power- 400yd/800yd/200yd 10x power- 500yd/1000yd/250yd 12x power- 600yd/1200yd/300rd 16x power- 800yd/1600yd/400yd and so on……..

I've put one of these on my Henry 30-30 ideal for 100 yards out to 200 yards
ACSS from primary Arms is tough to beat! Although this vortex 1-8x gen3 is not bad if you get the discount.
