That was very interesting. A road which has completely disappeared. But it happens in many places. The original A34 at Beacon Hill is now replaced by a new one. The old road was (in the 80s) no wider than a farm track, but still showing its tarmac surface and cats eyes. You could drive up from the northern end, but there was no exit to the south. And no way of turning around either.

Thank you once again. Since I made this film I have discovered lots of abandoned roads. Obviously didn't know what to look out for before.

Another great film. I run along these lanes frequently but never new this road existed. Regarding the markers, note that they are curved and lean away from the road. You’ll find one similar on Pyott’s Hill in Old Basing.

Thanks Neville, I'll have to look out for those. There's one on the corner of Frog lane too.

I worked on that section of the M3 and well remember Andwell Road before it was diverted across the ME as where the majority of side roads crossing the motorway. There were watercress beds adjacent to the lane, the owner was very concerned about the construction affecting the water quality and his watercress.

I assume that the field that the road terminates in was built-up and levelled, using spoil from the construction of the M3?

Fun little fact, that “car park” is a compound for Marshall Hampshire just up the road in hook. Up until around 2018/19 you could still access the site as it wasn’t technically private

The red/white road markers are on the correct side - red/left, nearside and white/right, offside, as indeed outlined in the text you read. I think you got confused when querying it! Nowadays, we still have markers, but they are usually fairly flimsy plastic posts, with red or white bands.

Great fun getting chewed by brambles and the lake is a good place to spot egrets. Do wonder if the bubbling water is channeled from natural springs or another source. Good explore 👍

The red lights mean the side of the road your driving on to your left if you see white reflections it means the dangers on your right

Interesting video..... I would say the posts are 50's.... maybe 40's..... I think at least one should be saved! I do like the older road markings and signs.

That's the period I put them to as well. Hopefully they will stay in situ for many years to come.

@@PASTFINDERexploring It is nice to see them in place but sadly these 'golden gems' of the past are destroyed my man and nature. Part of the reason I have 'un-earthed' and restored WW2 airfield lights which are destined for display in a museum project I'm involved with.
