  • Here we’ve added a few essentials to the Ford Expedition to make it a bit more of a capable get home vehicle.
    Still more to add, and change up but for now she’s a hundred times better than in complete stock form with no gear.

    Things to consider. Pull strap and rope shackles, definitely more tools, large folding saw and or axe for clearing minor debris, radiator hoses, drive belt, fluids (ATF, motor oil, coolant, brake fluid), plug kit for tires, 12v air compressor, short 2x6 to place your jack on if using on soft ground, road flairs, full size spare, large pry bar, come along with chain. My dad taught me to keep this stuff on my truck at all times even before prepping was relevant and I’ve used almost every item on this list at least once in my daily life. Worry less about the cool tactical stuff and more about the stuff that’s gonna keep your rig on the road in a bad situation

    Paid $3000.00 for my 04 eddie bauer expedition. Rust free southern truck. I'm in the middle of a 3 year build. 1more year and it should be done. Who can afford a new one? Not me. I've had my share of jeeps. I can sleep in mine if need be. She goes in for body and paint soon.

    I like it. I have a 2000 Ford Expedition EB. It’s a secondary vehicle for me BUT I have it outfitted with some key items like you do. Mine is not 4WD. 🫣. I use the same Superman patch! Lol. Thanks.

    • @RidinDirtyOutdoors
      @RidinDirtyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha nice! Yea this is a secondary for me most days also. Car gets way better fuel economy 😅. But I use this when running most errands for the extra space.

    actually that is the perfect get home vehicle.....big enough to sleep in the back if needed.....only thing I would do, get rid of the molle panels from the seats, prying eyes, and you have smashed windows and everything stolen. out of site out if mind. the sportsman box you have, they make the same one with the gasket, its the marine box....had shit in the back of my pickup truck for years with that box, never had any moisture ....good video, perfect vehicle

  • @captcooper5159
    @captcooper5159 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice! Think about a tarp to through over the car to make you less visible from the air. Also, next to food, consider water! Don't rely on your filter only. Make room for water. Lastly: where are you gonna sleep?

    • @RidinDirtyOutdoors
      @RidinDirtyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Jerry can of water on the rack.
      I have a tarp in the back tote.
      I can either sleep in the truck or anywhere really I’ve got a sleeping system in here.
      I know the title is misleading but I explain this is more a “get home vehicle” vice a bug out. But that term isn’t as searched on TH-cam.
      Still have some more stuff to do, my winch needs to be installed next

    I have a question - I have BOV that is a Ford ranger. Should I keep a small 4x4 with great gas mileage or get something bigger?

    • @RidinDirtyOutdoors
      @RidinDirtyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the ranger is awesome. If you need more room then I believe you’ve answered your question. Otherwise I’d look into a cap for the bed and build it out to hold a ton of gear and be able to sleep if need be.

    I need some advice, I’m looking for an suv that is reliable. Is it true that a lot of the newer models are unreliable compared to older model vehicles? I don’t want to invest in a SUV and it be a bust.

    • @RidinDirtyOutdoors
      @RidinDirtyOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all comes down to how well it’s maintained. Obviously newer cars are great, warranty and all. Just sucks making that car payment.
      If you do buy an older vehicle look for one that is completely stock like I did. This one was a 2 owner and nothing done to it. Then I made it how I wanted.
      Typically I’d go with a Chevrolet/GMC but couldn’t find one on a budget so went with this Ford. Either way I’d try to stick to American or Japanese vehicles as they are cheaper to maintain.
