Thanks for the great presentation! An explorer so tough, that I wonder how the hard top and its mechanism would hold even only 20cm wet snow - a common situation, for a so-called explorer, isn't it? Allowing also little protection against rain, wind, the boat seems to be better suited to "explore"... Summer sunsets in the Med.
To make it a true explorer, it should have been a full displacement hull, shaft drive, bigger tanks and less powerful engines. Does anyone actually make a vessel that combines trawler range but the kind if style this has??
I'm loving the design fit and finish of this boat, gorgeous and if they could somehow get at least 1000nm range it would be perfect in my mind. Imagine taking this up to the fjords like John did in his V39, wow that'd be awesome. When you sea trial one (👃👃) I'll be expecting you to try out the fly bridge in your dancing shoes 🤪. Cheers Hugo, great tour. 👍❤️🇬🇧
@@cookiemonster2299 OK but that boat is a _passagemaker._ And passagemakers are wonderful in their own right, both as transport and to enjoy as themselves, but they are entirely different architectures and design requirements to this. Suggestions in this forum are including changing the hull to displacement. Changing the engines to small HP shaft. In turn that would require a fundamental redesign of the transom, all windows, etc. And we don't stop there. Extending range and lowering speed means more time inside, including more time forced inside in inclement weather. So literally everything gets changed internally too. The sheer ego of it all. Post after post after post of it. I'd say nobody but not quite, but close to nobody, has bothered to try to judge the boat on it's actual design and intended use. (I just removed several f-bombs from the sentence and somewhat regret it.) I mean if people don't _want_ to use a boat for its intended use, if that style of use doesn't appeal, OK. But they're criticising the fact the boat exists in that niche instead of being an entirely different build that they can't afford either. Let's make the case for this. You & the family live on the Med coast, Florida, etc. are out for a holiday for a couple of weeks. You fill the tanks and you head off. As a holiday you won't want to do too many hours a day passagemaking, certainly not for days on end, you'll be enjoying the places you stop by be it anchorage or berth, along the way. So basically you won't need to refuel during your holiday. Most family holiday yachts top out at 350 miles. If a yacht like that has to refuel once, or twice, you avoided that. That's all. It's not a deal-breaker but it's good. But far more importantly it opens "hops" not previously available, or available with a ballache. For an example to contextualise, can now go from Sardinia to Malta directly without a big detour to Scilly to refuel. Balearics to Scilly DIRECTLY. And if those examples don't interest you it doesn't matter. John on a trip had a ballache of phoning a farmer for diesel because he ran out. Three times the legs is a BIG jump forward looking for a port. If you could tell any experienced Caribbean standard motoyacht captain their "hop" range has gone from 300 miles to 1000 they'd be _very_ happy. And that's the passagemaking of it. The real point of the yacht is, having gotten to wherever it is, you anchor up and get the drinks out. The "but I cannot cross the Atlantic in it therefore I cannot conceive as to why it might exist" crowd... you provoked this. #OverAndOut
Why wouldn't they make the windscreen wipers lay horizontally? After working so hard to get an unobstructed view, it's ruined by having to look at wipers
Man, tough audience Hugo lol. 600 miles is plenty of range. It’s a 62’. That’s not going to Greenland. There’s these new things called Marina’s - it would be great to travel to a Med/Baltic (filling up at those marina things) trip
IF you somehow managed to heat the interior of that glass house to something livable in Greenland: Those big, single pane windows would crack from thermal stress....... While all that plumbing for wet bars etc. high up above the only thing frost moderating, which is the ocean;, would freeze and crack..... Pretty much the only places left anymore, which are inhospitable enough to not have coastal populations supporting fuel docks closer spaced than 500 miles, are exactly such butt cold places. Where boats like this, all make a cold, hard, zero sense from the getgo. In most other places, many people would prefer the ability to wick it up to 20 knots on more realistic, occasional shorter passages. Even if that means not having a weight allowance allowing for bunkering fuel like a transoceanic supertanker.
It happens when you do not name thigs right. Maybe ifyou call it a "coastal exploring luxury yacht" it would fit the right crowd preferences. If you are looking to buy an explorer yacht, you would skip this one.
I really like the design & styling of this but the 600 mile range is pretty limiting for something claiming to be an exploring yacht. It seems more like a boat to do some island hoping in the caribbean or cruising around the mediterranean. I think most of the time it will serve as a classy houseboat.
It looks like a trawler without the abilities. You couldn't leave Genoa and decide to go to London, or Toronto, non-stop. It a Med Cruiser like a Princess or a Azimut but dressed differently. I've heard wonderful things on the quality and I like the styling, but I'm ambivalent about it. But then the Swift Trawlers have all the same issues. They're not long distance open ocean boats but I like those too. I could see this in the Caribbean but not the Great Lakes.
Correct, there are different boats for those activities. But Princess & Azimut, aside from costing a lot more, have a lot less range. But yes it's a Med/Caribbean explorer, not a globetrotter.
It's funny there's no video's of the crash test, I've made a crash proof shopping trolley tested with a speed of 1000mph into a sponge oh but i have no video of it so just take my word for it :)
First of all this yacht is amazing! It takes God stuff to a whole new level. I can't believe you can fit so much. And the surfboards! A huge wow! Its a true " say no more". We all need one. God bless you and way to go in hitting a home run for Christ! 😇⭐🖤🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡!
I'll be honest I'm not sure about this boat. The decor in the salon is nice. I can see what the owner wanted but for me it's not quite working. But the quality of the work is good, plus I like the helm and kitchen together makes sense. Is 600 nautical miles a long distance boat I was expecting much more than that. But interesting, I'm hoping you go onto review another one to compare them. See what maybe the manufacturer or another owner would plan.
As long as you're sitting a bit out from the mainlands, and under a roof protecting you from the direct sun, the breeze is really pleasant. All those superyacht charterers aren't paying a million a week to be cooked alive.... I could absolutely see this boat work well in Ibiza/Formentera. Stabilisation and reliable ground tackle, are a big thing with the quickly changing wind directions and few truly protected anchorages which weren't already overcrowded by 1970....
let me go ahead and stop you if your "explorer" does not explore in excess of 2000 nautical miles you do not have an explorer yacht. you might have some neat tricks and features, but it is not an explorer yacht.
I would say this one is a Marmite boat, love it or hate it and nothing in between. Sorry to say it's one of the ugliest and least practical boats I've ever seen.
C'mon Hugo, you know you wanted to try and cram 2 people into the shower. Remind you of the SAS days locking out of a sub in full kit ready to swim out and take down a freighter carrying illegal arms from North Korea. You could c,ear this yacht with a Glock 17 or a B&T MP9. MP5 would be too big.
I like the idea of placing the main body more forward (reducing bow area), however what they gained is wasted with such a large cockpit. Extending the salon would have been better, and placing the galley next to the helm is ridiculous (personal taste of course). Storing the tender inside is just torturing anyone who has to service the engineering room. I don't think it's very owner operator friendly for that reason alone. So it's slick, and they spent some time on their logo. My impression is this is the kind of boat you see going out with dancing cellulose laden ladies booming tacky music. But that's just me.
The interior seating set up isn't very social. It's all in a row with nothing opposing the straight sofa. And if the view is to starboard then no one enjoys it.
in the salon you are looking "straight at" a sideboard unit ?????? - there'l' be no room in the galley once the captains chair is installed - i hate toilets and showers in the "same space", you get your feet wet every time you go to the loo - and the 4th cabin is just NOT A CABIN - anyway, if you want to see how to use the space properly in a 60+ft boat look at the Absolute Nevetta 64
Wonderful use of new innovation & designs. Where this yacht lost me: IPS, no real cockpit on the water for users outside of the Med (fishing, diving, seating closer to water level). Then the layout of the galley which is probably changeable, plus too many sharp edges & corners. No easily accessible dayhead. The greatest negatives are that stairway to the flying bridge. Too steep, not safe underway in a big sea, too exposed, & the lower helm is not at all suitable for passage-making. Just my thoughts.
the fact that this boat won "best design" in 2021 says everything you need to know about 2021. great tour anyways hugo, thanks!

As explorers go this is a puddle jumper. Can't wait for the revised version... so many changes.
600 miles is not long range.
I agree
Further than you can swim mate.
@@darthkek1953 okay mate.
explore the marina.....
Great tour Hugo. As a matter of interest do you know the price of the high specification boat you toured. I’m guessing £2.5m
same guess here... will be double the price of another 62 ft boat like galeon or absolute....hmmmm
I like this boat!
To make it a true explorer, it should have been a full displacement hull, shaft drive, bigger tanks and less powerful engines.
Does anyone actually make a vessel that combines trawler range but the kind if style this has??
Bering 60 or Beneteau trawler 62... cheaper and better
@ANDY VAN KERKHOVE not sure the beneteau would have the range. Personally I'd say you need at least 2500 miles to truly be an explorer yacht.
This is a Caribbean Florida marina boat.
This is perfect for a couple but I imagine the glass cleaning would get annoying.
John's V39 does not have a 1000 mile range, why does this need one?
@@darthkek1953 so ya don't have to keep refueling every time ya stop, like John did. 🤪👍❤️🇬🇧
#OverAndOut
@@darthkek1953 you forgot something, in my daydream this boat is capable of 1000nm 😂🤣😂
Why wouldn't they make the windscreen wipers lay horizontally? After working so hard to get an unobstructed view, it's ruined by having to look at wipers
Beautiful does anyone know the asking cost of this boat ?
Good for exploring the inside of marinas…..
Very interesting product.
A lot to like, but the saloon is so small. Why doesn't the main deck go full beam after the helm/kitchen area?
Can’t understand why the wipers don’t come down from the top and hide away in the overhang over the window.
Where is the crash video?🤨
Nice to have a shower over the dining table so you can clean up before getting your champagne out of the fish bucket.
I really like the design & styling of this but the 600 mile range is pretty limiting for something claiming to be an exploring yacht. It seems more like a boat to do some island hoping in the caribbean or cruising around the mediterranean. I think most of the time it will serve as a classy houseboat.
Owner slept 14 days in that child bunk… ok lol
Love it! I want one!
Not sure how durable the interior would be with a lot of use. Like the layout and the forward helm station.
The minute you say Volvo IPs serious explorer flies out the window.
Interesting boat for sure ...
Yes, you are absolutely right. I didn't expect to meet you here, how are you doing?
600 nautical miles range?? wtf this isnt an explorer at all! maybe explore one mediteranian yacht club after the other lol
62ft boat and and absolutely tiny inside...alot of wasted space
But yes it's a Med/Caribbean explorer, not a globetrotter.
just another design of any 62 ft yacht on the market... nothing more....
A Caribbean explorer if you ship it in a cargo ship there. It would still be a short range interisland explorer.
A city synonymous with yachting 😅
Yes I lived in NRW.
It's funny there's no video's of the crash test, I've made a crash proof shopping trolley tested with a speed of 1000mph into a sponge oh but i have no video of it so just take my word for it :)
2600Liters is 687gal we will say 700 at at $4.30 a gal in Miami that's 3grand a tank that can get you to Myrtle Beach...
Interesting concept. But too open for y taste. The Med is so hot in summer that I dont want to sit outside with 45 degree
yep... so explore Alaska
I hate it, too modern, it's all show, no blow
600 mile range is not very impressive for an explorer yacht when a comparable Bering 65 has a 4000+ nm range....
Yep...Bed for extra child is good addition to the beds for regular children.
Love the decking not teak for once
let me go ahead and stop you if your "explorer" does not explore in excess of 2000 nautical miles you do not have an explorer yacht. you might have some neat tricks and features, but it is not an explorer yacht.
correct... explore your marina
Looks like a Boaty MacBoatface cartoon
lol...it does
Amazing if they have an all electric version.
How did they get this boat to 80 knots to crash it, I would believe 8 knots crash test that is very realistic
18 knots.
use subtitles.... 18 knots....
I love everything about it, however the range of this vessel is limited. This is a huge downside.
If I had the money this would be the one i bought
Looks lovely, but why do the sofas on these boats look soooo uncomfortable? Doesn't look like you could sit there and enjoy a movie at night .
A very controversial decision
I like the idea of placing the main body more forward (reducing bow area), however what they gained is wasted with such a large cockpit. Extending the salon would have been better, and placing the galley next to the helm is ridiculous (personal taste of course). Storing the tender inside is just torturing anyone who has to service the engineering room. I don't think it's very owner operator friendly for that reason alone. So it's slick, and they spent some time on their logo. My impression is this is the kind of boat you see going out with dancing cellulose laden ladies booming tacky music. But that's just me.
Great video, but these videos (e.g. this and aquaholic) really need wide angle lenses.
Lets call it EXPLORER.... it has a range of 600 Nm... just enough to explore the Cote d Azur....
but you can crash into a concrete wall... ah ok...
General Grievous’s private yacht 😂
I can't think of many yacht reviews that I've disliked quite so much. Not the reviewer, but the yacht itself. Horrible.
Yes, you are absolutely right. I didn't expect to meet you here, how are you doing?
600 miles are we exploring a lake
The interior seating set up isn't very social. It's all in a row with nothing opposing the straight sofa. And if the view is to starboard then no one enjoys it.
Horrible layout, nothing like a house, seriously disjointed design, I guess having money doesn't mean they have sense.
in the salon you are looking "straight at" a sideboard unit ??????
