This show was a breath of fresh air. As good as the Daryl Dixon show and dead city were, this shows first episode was better than anything the others have offered. Maybe it’s nostalgia for Rick Grimmes or Andrew Lincoln’s stellar performance but I think this show will go down as the best spinoff of them all. So many answers to questions already is what I loved !
I think another cool hidden Easter egg is when Rick is telling the story about his father how, for a moment he saw him as a monster but in that moment, Rick was also calm and felt safe, remind me when Rick bit the claimers neck to save Carl …Carl’s reaction was similar Where he saw, Rick become the monster yet he knew he was safe with Rick
Daryl basically responsible for all the bad shit that happened. He made it so the saviors were able to escape the sanctuary in all out war. Which eventually led to carls death. He got Glenn killed. He got Rick “killed”.
Bro Oakfor dying i was like "NOOOO TRAVISSSSS", scenes are very similar and i miss travis, me and my bother called him Mr. Meat Hands because the hefty punches he threw back in seasons 1 and two of fear.
Post #2: Also my theory is the leader of Dead City (NY) is wanting Negan to lead them to take on the CRM which will cause a faceoff again of Rick vs Negan Rd 2. Maybe even Daryl and the French Squad!
People, please don't cut a limb off if you find yourself in a desperate situation like this. Just cut of your thumb or at least break it enough to get the cuffs off. Same if you are in a Saw type situation, there's no need to cut off the whole foot when you can break the foot or at worst, just cut off the heel enough to get the cuffs off.
I am so happy that they dilly dally around with answering the questions most of us had about what happened to him and why he had not returned. What the A and B thing meant and the reunion between him and Michione not taking episodes to get to.
Consider the A and B scenario as it pertains to an earlier part of the series. Rick and most of the group were taken to a boxcare to wait to then be slaughtered. They were in Car A. There was a guy released from a different car, and they had to kill him. Now, since we know now what A and B really mean, in the series, could crm have been in communication with terminus and was collecting subjects. A facility as important as terminus was would not go unnoticed by Cr or Crm. And that guy was definitely in that boxcar for a long time, considering how cray cray he was. I doubt he was on the menu.
In the scene where Okafor is talking with Pearl and Rick, he hands them the book, “The Art of Peace,” the same book that Eastman gives Morgan to bring him back to sanity in the original series.
I wonder, with that we know now with the ones who live, if the helicopter in Atlanta in episode 1 was CRM and was planning on bombing the city, again (because of the horde), but someone decided against it
Kirkman always said he regretted taking Rick's hand so early on. I think thats why it took so long. It was an almost homage to Day of the dead his fave zombie film which also had a hand chop scene and fire cauterisation
This doesn't FEEL like the walking dead at all. I know it was only the premier but it felt like a cinematic experience and that's coming from someone who hated the direction this show went during all our war. I gave up on the series after Rick "died" but this one episode brought me back in and like I never left. As if the show couldn't get in my head enough ,THE MOMENT I said "okay I think I actually like Oka.." Boom. Well played AMC, well played.
in episode 2 the small japaneise guy gets shot from behind by a crm agent rick and michone thought was dead, two big purple bon fires are lit to clear the horde from the vally just after the moment from the season 11 finale that michone rides to on her horse, and the yellow clouds from the trailer burnt out theyre lungs and they had to get oxygen tanks and breath with them for months probuly even years, and at the end michone's freind the small japanese guy is the one who shot down ricks helecopter and they reunite and rick has to take her back to the crm and sucsesfully gets her in without the crm knowing they had a past together, apart from jadis who comes in at the last minutes of episode 2 and tells rick that they have theyre own secrets between eachother (rick and jadis).
This episode was great! There’s a few small things like michonne only lifting ricks’ helmet and the arm removal being a little unnecessary, but the reunion and the sweet ass hidden blade more than make up for it.
I loved hat it told us he tried escaping 4 times, not just once as it wouldn’t feel right, Rick is the type to keep trying, even cutting his hand off makes sense as he’s trying to get away, love how they show him slowly accept his fate and realise staying away might be softer than returning, can’t wait for the rest of the show off to an incredible start

It doesn't matter if she had a family around her, Michonne is her mother and should NOT have left her.
@@joshgell Maybe you’re not seeing her character arch. I think TOWL will get more viewers than the other spin-offs. I'm 100% sure it. It might get about 1 million viewers for ep2 because the internet almost crashed when ep1 aired LMAO. A lot of people are getting back on board because TOWL was downright bad@ss and really good storytelling.
This was a great breakdown! The easter eggs/call backs is always something I enjoy about this series.
Lincoln and Bernthal need to reunite for a True Detective season.
That would be so good
This is the kind of thing I didn't know I needed
Whoa! Would be epic but since they share so much TWD screen time and character it'd be a bit weird...you'd think Shane and Rick were transported to another universe
Thank you for covering this show!!
He is back. This is everything ❤️
Imagine at the end of it all Rick just wakes up in a different hospital with Lori Carl and Shane 😂
The longest bait and switch ever, even better he wakes up and starts writing a book about his dream 😂
Meh. I like Michonne much more than Lori. Plus, it's too Wizard of Oz-ish of an ending.
@@BunE22 yeah I wouldn't want it to end like that either im just saying like if rick was just in his coma the whole time lol
I would sue AMC for killing my mental health. Right now my mental health is 100% healthy and thriving. lol
LOVE this breakdown! Thx so much...I was struggling to find some of the relevance and connections throughout the show. Super helpful...on to EP 2 😊
I was heavily impressed with this first episode. Hope the next five are just as good.
Bro Oakfor dying i was like "NOOOO TRAVISSSSS", scenes are very similar and i miss travis, me and my bother called him Mr. Meat Hands because the hefty punches he threw back in seasons 1 and two of fear.
Kind of surprised they killed off Okafor in the very first episode. Really liked that character from the little bit we saw
This episode was perfection! It felt like a movie. I’m glad it was slow paced like the tv show.
Such a great breakdown man, good job!! You broke it WAAAAY past where my break does lol
This was better than I expected. The best of the 'reboots' imo. Wish they were keeping Okafor. Interesting character
I love the amount of walking dead coverage TH-camrs are giving it to it now, it feels like 2014 again
The ones who live in walking dead to the extreme and it can add fresh stories in there since most the comic has been covered.
Post #2: Also my theory is the leader of Dead City (NY) is wanting Negan to lead them to take on the CRM which will cause a faceoff again of Rick vs Negan Rd 2. Maybe even Daryl and the French Squad!
yessss so excited you’re covering this show!!!
This episode was wild 😂😅 I mean it was really fun I can't believe how they did okafor 😂😅
Dude I am sooooooo excited for this series
Did anyone notice the LA bombing scene from fear the walking dead ????????
Yes we mentioned it!
Bro this was the best walking dead episode of any of the shows in years. Thank you for this
AMC sponsorship? Doug We made it !
I absolutely loved this episode! Great writing too. Was heaps better than I expected!
All Rick had to do was chop the cable off instead of his hand
this makes no sense. you don't chain up a prisoner then give them a weapon strong enough to destroy the chain.
@imSovi you ever tried to cut through a steel cable with an axe that's already been used?
@@DatBoiChris420 yep, it's easier than chopping through bone with one straight chop 🤣
For a short second I thought crazy Rick was going to come back . BUT he is for he’s wife and kid … HE WILL
I am so happy that they dilly dally around with answering the questions most of us had about what happened to him and why he had not returned. What the A and B thing meant and the reunion between him and Michione not taking episodes to get to.
Awesome episode 👏 hope the rest of the season is as good
Consider the A and B scenario as it pertains to an earlier part of the series.
I’m really glad they didn’t drag out the reunion
In the scene where Okafor is talking with Pearl and Rick, he hands them the book, “The Art of Peace,” the same book that Eastman gives Morgan to bring him back to sanity in the original series.
Andrew Lincoln is such a good actor
I wish this franchise was still shot on film. It made the show and the walkers look more realistic. Digital exposes too much.
I wonder, with that we know now with the ones who live, if the helicopter in Atlanta in episode 1 was CRM and was planning on bombing the city, again (because of the horde), but someone decided against it
Wow the first episode was so good. Every turn in this show was like 😮.
Kirkman always said he regretted taking Rick's hand so early on. I think thats why it took so long. It was an almost homage to Day of the dead his fave zombie film which also had a hand chop scene and fire cauterisation
The reason I watched the og show...it this. Soo good
I keepy fingers crossed that Darryl or Rick will come across Rick's brother. He died in the comics, but there's so much potential in the character
This doesn't FEEL like the walking dead at all. I know it was only the premier but it felt like a cinematic experience and that's coming from someone who hated the direction this show went during all our war. I gave up on the series after Rick "died" but this one episode brought me back in and like I never left. As if the show couldn't get in my head enough ,THE MOMENT I said "okay I think I actually like Oka.."
Boom. Well played AMC, well played.
man ur videos are so good
in episode 2 the small japaneise guy gets shot from behind by a crm agent rick and michone thought was dead, two big purple bon fires are lit to clear the horde from the vally just after the moment from the season 11 finale that michone rides to on her horse, and the yellow clouds from the trailer burnt out theyre lungs and they had to get oxygen tanks and breath with them for months probuly even years, and at the end michone's freind the small japanese guy is the one who shot down ricks helecopter and they reunite and rick has to take her back to the crm and sucsesfully gets her in without the crm knowing they had a past together, apart from jadis who comes in at the last minutes of episode 2 and tells rick that they have theyre own secrets between eachother (rick and jadis).
I hope they bring in more B's and they flesh out this concept through other characters! Great first episode, we're in for a treat!
just sheer brilliance & nostalgia whenever rick is around tho
The Toby cut was absolute perfection.
Did he build the research station that World Beyond takes place at?
Thank you AMC
Amazing 👏 awesome 👌 👏 👍
The walking dead
The ones who live
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad they did reunite this episode. Actually gives me hope we will get a proper ending
I was wondering why you covering this… ok AMC, at least you got me considering giving it a chance.
When you realize that Rick Grimes is Altair.
Still hate the fact Michonne left her children. This needs to be addressed properly.
Judith told her to leave to find her dad.
@@DEEiBe As a parent myself I'd never leave my child to go find someone who could potentially be dead, even if I found clues. It is so unbelievably selfish and really did not fit Michonne's character at all. Doesn't matter if Judith told her to, she is a child and she needs her Mother. It doesn't matter if she had a family around her, Michonne is her mother and should NOT have left her.
@@joshgell Maybe you’re not seeing her character arch. Yes Michonne is her “mother” now but it’s not in her character in this world to raise kids knowing that her husband that holds the whole family together is alive out there somewhere, and she did nothing to go save him. I think that you’re thinking in terms of how you are as a parent in today’s world but not really looking at the character arch and if it made sense.
