If you know IPA, the vowel in "sugar" is /ʊ/ the same one as in "put," "took," or "should." The lips ARE a bit rounded but not as much as in the /uw/ as in "food." That being said, these tiny details of pronunciation are not as important as vocabulary and other aspects of language that result in real fluency 😀

And if you're giving any proficient language tests like TOEFL, Hsk, JLPT , and like there are many. So... Are these valid for the lifetime? Like if you are a business person so...can you say like yeah I know this language???
of course they're valid, that kind of exams test your english abilities regardless where did you get it for instance if your looking for a new job where they demand English skills and you show that result, it's completely valid 👍 As you, I've been learning English by myself since 3 years and now I'm an intermediate learner, and I have many friends at the University that have been learning for even more time and they know just the middle of I know so...I think that you're the only one who decide what so far wanna go and what level wanna get studying 👍 keep practicing, you're doing it well
