absolutely! My cat is the most affectionate pet I've ever had. Most people are not sensitive enough with cats, not careful enough and misread their body language. If you treat them like a cat, not a dog, they'll be yours forever.
Formerly prefered dogs over cats, can confirm discovering affection in cats was like that, both from when I was arguing with a cat person (they had undeniably good points about them) and also having the opportunity to spend time with a neighbour's cat. Getting affection from a cat is something I feel like I really deserve. Also they are so much more interesting than dogs, they can go underneath doors because they are so squishy and they are so actobatic generally.
Imagine this cat really was abandoned by previous owners. How long he’s been searching for a nice, warm home and that companionship again. He felt pulled to this house. He kept coming back. And imagine how good it must feel for him, having a caring owner again. Someone to love. A warm home to come to. Someplace he would always have some good food to eat and a bed to sleep on. That’s the ultimate dream for any pet, especially one that was left behind for whatever reason.
I've been rescuing cats for over 10yrs now and this is the process you go through when a cat loses trust in humans due to abandonment. Vids like these are always uplifting seeing some people still care enough to go that extra length to help 👏👏👏🙏✌️
We rescued a similar, but younger, ginger boy who showed up in our back yard two years ago. In our case, he eventually became friendly and was basically living on our property but still refused to come into our house. It wasn't until we trapped him and had him neutered that he wanted to be an inside cat.
Dude is a legend. Anyone who takes in an animal and gives them food, warmth and love is a massive winner in my book 🏆 The way we treat animals says a lot about our character ❤
The Bible says whatever you do unto the least of these it is as if you have done it unto me. Good job Alex. You are a great human&Cinnabon looks just like my boy Red&he is the most cuddly&loving boy. Enjoy him bcuz he is an actual gift from. GOD!
I think he was abandoned and not entirely stray. The fact that he came up to your house and looked in the window seems to suggest that he knows that houses contain food warmth and safety. Something he didn’t have much of in his life at the time. So very sweet of you to befriend this poor guy ❤️
I assume people had fed him before because someone bothered to trap and neuter him. Even if he was feral, cats are drawn to homes because people often leave garbage out where a cat may be able to find something worth eating. Also mice tend to live near people in higher numbers and anyone who feeds birds bring another potential food source to their home.
@@cocoanbella Actual feral cats are hostile to humans and you would never see them. They are wild animals and no more likely to be friendly than a wild boar.
@@ejtattersall156 not true at all. I volunteered for an animal rescue for five years, helping take care of cat colonies and doing TNR. Ferals will stay at what they think is a safe distance, but they make sure that the feeders see them, so that they keep putting the food down.
Not mine. The worst pain in the ass imaginable. Destroys litter boxes. My two cats are fed on table so the pooch doesn't steal their food. No matter with dear Fazool, he throws his food on the floor any way. He thinks if it's raining outside the front door, he goes to the back door because he thinks it might be dry. If I put on a jacket he hasn't seen for a while he's not sure who I am. If there's mud any where around the house, he'll find it and walk through it before coming in......and so on.
every self-proclaimed no-a-cat-person when a cat chooses them: "it is different.. it acts kinda like a dog... it is special..." , meanwhile us cat-people: "Every cat is different, but what makes him/her special is that he chose you and has a special bond with you... no, he is acting exactly like cats act when they are around good people with amazing hearts and good energy that belong to them. Congratulations, you are cat-worthy."
awwww this made me well up with tears! it has taken a YEAR AND A HALF for the rescue I adopted to trust me enough to sleep close to me. And so It says a lot about your character, for that kitty to trust you ❤ Well done and I thank you! Love, from 🇨🇦
Cats are "slow" to trust you, but once they do, you have a friend as long as they live. They even sense if you are ill, and will not leave your side. ❤ In memory of my Cinnamon-colored baby who went to sleep a month ago now.
My heart is with you Sondra, I had to give my Lady Jane a "good death" 3 months ago ... The vet office sent me a teeny bottle of her fur, and a heart shaped clay impression of a paw print, I keep them by my bedside. Here, tea's ready, come on by!!
He got sooo much warmer with enough nutrition to fill out his fat and his coat! I hate to see them out there when they are skinny because you know they can't make it much more. I like this mushy story.

I love how every “not a cat person” finds a cat that’s “different”. Cats are complex, you’re just doing a good job. Every cat I’ve ever owned follows me like a dog and is incredibly sweet and playful. I’ve never been biten by a cat, or hissed at by any of mine.

Hi. This is a lovely story. This is how my outdoor kitty and I met. He was injured 2 yrs ago. Hip area. I started with water that summer, then as cold approached I left food. Very skittish if I made eye contact. He eventually let me pet him. Made shelter for him out of an old cooler. My ex husband then bought him a warming pad. He now comes in 2x a day for food. I'm not sure if he prefers indoors since he goes back to the patio door to go outside. I was never a cat person but my heart went out to help him. Now he's mine. Rubs against my legs, let's me brush him and finally allowed to clean his very dirty ears. Thank God for small things that bring a meaningful purpose to me. 🐈💛😊

It’s true, following their owner around “like a dog” is total cat behaviour! 😹
Exactly
Formerly prefered dogs over cats, can confirm discovering affection in cats was like that, both from when I was arguing with a cat person (they had undeniably good points about them) and also having the opportunity to spend time with a neighbour's cat. Getting affection from a cat is something I feel like I really deserve.
Also they are so much more interesting than dogs, they can go underneath doors because they are so squishy and they are so actobatic generally.
WELL SAID!!!

I've been rescuing for about 10 years as well. It's heart breaking and fulfilling at the same time. Thanks for what you do. They need more help.
We rescued a similar, but younger, ginger boy who showed up in our back yard two years ago. In our case, he eventually became friendly and was basically living on our property but still refused to come into our house. It wasn't until we trapped him and had him neutered that he wanted to be an inside cat.

Spot on.... And it is not beyond the scope of Any person to show compassion for Any animal in need of help. In helping an animal you help yourself.
Which is why I’m vegan. Can’t be an animal lover while eating animals.
I think he was abandoned and not entirely stray. The fact that he came up to your house and looked in the window seems to suggest that he knows that houses contain food warmth and safety. Something he didn’t have much of in his life at the time. So very sweet of you to befriend this poor guy ❤️
The clipped ear shows he was caught, fixed and released by a service
I assume people had fed him before because someone bothered to trap and neuter him. Even if he was feral, cats are drawn to homes because people often leave garbage out where a cat may be able to find something worth eating. Also mice tend to live near people in higher numbers and anyone who feeds birds bring another potential food source to their home.
@@cocoanbella Actual feral cats are hostile to humans and you would never see them. They are wild animals and no more likely to be friendly than a wild boar.
@@ejtattersall156Yes. He could still have had a home earlier in life. Many former pets end up in TNR programs. So glad he has a home!
@@ejtattersall156 not true at all. I volunteered for an animal rescue for five years, helping take care of cat colonies and doing TNR. Ferals will stay at what they think is a safe distance, but they make sure that the feeders see them, so that they keep putting the food down.
My cat is also following me everywhere 😅 it's sign he loves you bro 😻 good work ! 🎉

This warmed my heart so! Thank you to the amazing rescuer❤
