That property was awesome! If I owned something like that, no one would ever see me unless they came out to visit. Would of loved seeing what the inside would have looked like. It's was a huge property with a huge home and must of been something back in the day. Thanks for sharing.
lol love your description as you walk up to the house. around the block and threw the trees lol got a love it, you are so real Brandon, wow imagine this place back in the day what a view it would have had.
This was a beautiful mid century modern mansion in its day! That was a Roman Tub! A lot of MCM’s really maximized storage. This house was built between 1957 and 1967 +/-,, the kitchen and architectural detail tells me this is when it was built . That is terra-cotta. Based on everything thing I seeing this house was probably designed by good architect. Very sad in went into a terrible state! Very cool explore Brandon! Keep Orange Crushing It!!!
This was probably a beautiful place over 20 years ago. The outside looked like it was very nice. Loved those oriental style sliding doors and the stone work. Great explore as always! Keep the awesome videos coming!!
What an amazing house and property. A shame to see something so unique go to rot. Can only imagine what it was like in its day. The owners must have had an incredible life there especially in the summertime with the huge pool and deck and barbecue spot. Must have been cool having wildlife for neighbors. Incredible find! Thanks for sharing. Be careful on rotted decks!
Wow just like I thought a beautiful house at one time . The blue bathroom is awesome and I loved the huge kitchen and all the counter top space. love it . Thank you so much Brandon for being a very detailed explorer. Your the best ! I really appreciate all you do. Thank you thank you thank you soooooo very much. ❤❤❤
An interview with the man who's house it was (at the house) if you're interested. The invasion of Pierre Berton (1981) - the Fifth Estate - CBC: th-cam.com/video/0-_Nb8J5d5M/w-d-xo.html (I found the link to this video through RP Explorations video on this same house)
Thanks so much for link! It really adds to the story. I don’t think he would be happy this happened to his home but he also wasn’t even sure if the group he was leaving it too even still existed.
Brandon Abandoned thanks for sharing this video with me this was a cool explore the house was amazing it is too bad we couldn't of seen the house when it was in a better condition but it was too bad it was destroyed by vandals and thanks for sharing it and God Bless
Another great explore! I can't understand why it's halfway demolished. I noticed Australian and Canadian homes have those green bathtubs and toilets. I grew up in the 70s and don't remember those here in the states? Weird. I do remember the pink bathrooms and kitchen appliances. I love how your videos bring back memories and show me new things too.😊 Thanks for all you do.
@@robertsitch1415 yes that's true but avocado green seems like a very different shade than the green bathroom fixtures we see it this video.🤷♀️Maybe I'm wrong.
@D. Paris I believe that is commonly known as turquoise, which was common in the postwar years. Pink and gold were about the only other colors that bathrooms had besides white during the 1950s.
Nice place at one time--definitely Mid-Century Modern--one way to find dates is to check the underside of the toilet tank lids; the date of manufacture is stamped there; gives a rough idea of when the place was built--The pink of the bath fixtures is 1950s-early '60s, as was likely the blue tub.
Wow that ski. That fireplace is huge and the other wall with field stones stacked flat. The radiant heat that would produce - you could dry your clothes on it lol.
Hi Brandon ,the house was a mess, Iike the first small bathroom ,I'm sure it was beautiful home at one time ,I would love all the property. thanks Brandon 👏amazing 💖🙂
That "nicest wood" in the basement closet was CEDAR. After you left that big deck by the pool, you went into a little shed type building - on your left was what looked like a pool HEATER with it's metal chimney. I would have LOVED to see the inside of that house BEFORE it was left vacant, too !!! That was quite an expensive house to build back in the day - somebody had some money . . .
The thin laid stone is the style my foundation and raised flower garden of my house. I'm not sure what it's called but my house was built in 1925. Or so I was told.
❤❤❤@brandonabandoned... you know that you didn't have to dance your happy a** around the deck. ... riiiiight🤣🤣🤦🤦u should come to NC. love u and the vids
Cool place owned by a millionaire then thanks to John for sharing the history and your guys for taking us around the house and gardens it was beautiful at one time and left to the writers guild i wonder if any one else wrote books there besides the original owner he was asked if he was going to leave it to his 8 children he said no they had enough. Great video guys.
I fail to see how a well accomplished author's family/estate could allow that property to go waste. Something was planned for it for someone to do interior demolition but then stopped. I wonder what the plan was. I'd love to have seen it before the interior demo. Thanks for the tour Brandon! 🤠👍👍👍 PS, how'd the tadpoles make out?
The owner died in 2004 (his ashes were scattered there). The property was sold after his wife died in 2015 possibly to a developer. The property was deemed a heritage site so no development allowed (don’t know exact regulations). Developer has probably let it go to ruin so it won’t be a heritage site if it’s destroyed. Then value will go up, and you know the rest of the story. Unfortunate.
Well, I got 13 minutes in before I quit - this is all rubble - looks all the same - totally stripped and destroyed. Wish I could have seen it before the vandal bomb dropped!
This is an arts and craft house! Would've been beautiful! Thanks for sharing it with us #Brandon ❤

Nice gem. Thx for taking me along. Enjoyed it.
Tadpoles ❤ Just found some at a local flower nursery. Swimming around in their lily pond. They live in most of our waters around here.
“Someone broke the skylight” sad Brandon 😅
Linoleum hack for kitchen drawer bottoms for left over linoleum.
Very cool find Brandon! Love the blue tiled wall inside and the outdoor brick fireplace must have been amazing back in it's day! Stay safe! 💕

Hey Brandon! This is a surprise post. Wow what a beautiful area!

What a great place to grow up! ♥️
Amazing find🎯
Kind of cool how the house is destroyed in most parts with small hints of really nice looking decor scattered thru out. That bathtub was really cool.
