I was lucky enough to have my nag 1 overhauled right when my Wrangler hit 60,000 miles (and it was covered under warranty). It like many others needed a new torque converter and had the cold reverse stall. They replaced the torque converter with a revised model, put a new valve body in just in case, and did a fluid, filter and gasket change. I thanked my lucky stars. My dealer was no joke, they did all this right at the end of my warranty.
Nice job J.T., well done! So much easier to do stuff when you have a hoist. I remember in around 1986 pulling the trans out on a dirt floor on my mom's 76 Dodge Coronet 4dr with the 904 trans bolted to a 225 slant 6. Had to yank it out twice. Had a crack on the torque converter drive hub. First thought it was the trans input shaft seal and back in. (We were on holidays at the time). Glad someone had a floor jack & dirt floor I could borrow! Still leaked, so after yanking it out again the 2nd time, pressure tested the torque converter & spotted the crack! Replaced the torque converter and we were on our way!
A lot easier with a conventional front drive layout. I probably rnr the different automatics in my Dart 5 times between burning out the original 904, trying a couple more used ones and finally converting to a 727 and having to deal with it a few times till I got a good rebuild that still works. Always working on the ground in the driveway with a floor jack and a rented transmission jack.
I did mine once and have been 45k since. Just gathered up the stuff to do it again soon. I'll keep up on my services, I do that and my tcase at the same time. My tranny and tcase both have 182k and work flawlessly. Never get why people think oil changes are the only maintenance they need to stay on top of.
I'm in the process of pulling this transmission out of an 06 charger with a 3.5 I have all the bellhousing bolts out all the torque converter bolts out but I still can't get the transmission to drop even the driveshaft bolts are out could I possibly be hung up on the crank sensor that's on the side of the bellhousing. Really appreciate the videos they have educated me quite a bit with this transmission.
@@OnlineMechanicTips yes removed all six bolts from the flywheel and torque converter I removed for bolts on top of the bellhousing removed all starter bolts removed for bolts on the bottom and I remove the two big 15 mm bolts on each side of the transmission the transmission is separated on the driver side there's about a quarter of an inch of a gap but on the passenger side don't see much of a gap and I'm definitely having no luck getting it to drop I've even took a Jack and tried jacking it up the see if I can break it free that way I have also tried letting gravity do some work nowalk I'm going to try a big pry bar and hopefully that does a job.
@@OnlineMechanicTips Thank you very much ended up having to drop the transmission I believe my torque converter has left the chat. 2006 Dodge charger 3.5l V6 car will drive and shift fine when cold or would be ok for a few days. When she does act up I would come to a complete stop go to take off car would go no faster then 20 mpg it would eventually make it up to speed after a few minutes. I would have to shut her down and wait 20 minutes then she would drive fine. What would you recommend to swap out the whole transmission or move forward and change the torque converter.
jasper sucks , had a customer come back 2 times with in 4 months with a broke ass Jasper trans. Buy a monster rebuild kit and take it to an authorized trans shop and ur good to go
A lot of good tips but Too many cut offs… not enough explanations. It maybe simple to you bro but break it down alittle more for someone who maybe has no clue but are good with their hands and tools and are watching this for that exact information to find the courage to do the job…You do that , your videos would be extremely more helpful…. Let the video be more informational and less that’s it’s easy for you too do…don’t get me wrong , I low key do the same thing but from the outside in I see what others are talking about lol But good work though. Nag1 are pretty simple to swap 👌
This was a interesting read. But for the record, everybody aware that I do not do tutorial videos. Im not cut out for that and unable to film the footage the way I need to be able to explain everything depending on where im at at the time of filming. I work out of 4 shops so my current situation at the time may not allow for such. This is a well known fact, I remind people on just about every other video that I DO NOT DO TUTORIAL VIDEOS.. Noticed the title do not say "How to remove/replace a Nag 1 transmission" . But I appreciate you watching

Good work bro
No way you remember, but still gonna try. How many miles was on this transmission?
Less talk more work myfriend great video like always
What tool did you use on the torque converter bolts with the small window, the subframe, and the boxed oil pan in the way?
I have that in my 06 3.5 Charger with 201,000. I have my oil changed at the dealership. If I needed work would they tell me.
Any tips for removing a nag1 on a awd Chrysler 300
5.7
After replacement does the It have to be reset with OBD2 if anyone knows please let me know.
Depends on what kind of transmission it is. Some are bolt up plug and play. What kind of car is it? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
How many hours labor to replace that nag1?
Nice ticket
Where can i find the input speed sensor at on this transmission.
There is no external speed sensor on a NAG. It uses the ABS wheel speed sensors and the electrical plate built inside the valve body to detect speeds.

@metalhead391 always start with a new conductor plate. This cures most issues. Use ATF+4 FLUID.
Is there a part 2
Poor flywheel is always so sad.. ur welcome, now you will not be able to unsee it either...
I rebuilt you a great transmission 😆
I can smell that through the screen lol....
