I can understand with everything changing even the voice actors, but maybe, if we all sit down and enjoy an episode over some spaghetti we can learn to appreciate this new version.
He never said he didn’t believe in it, he just never thought it could do him any good. I personally have the same view on therapy, I know it exists and helps people, but it’ll never help me
I don’t think they were trying to strike the same weight to the tone of the episode as the first unity episode, because they do try to make a much more impactful story in it’s amorte, Though I felt it was a little hamfisted to have that ending, because unlike the reset button episode we didn’t really have a connection to the character shown. If it makes you feel any better alycia, you’re one of the few people from whom I’d take the criticism seriously. A lot of people complaining about the latest episodes are the same ones that were complaining about the quality of every season, but pretend that roiland getting ousted is what sank the show for them. You, in your analyses of shows, tend to be objective about the quality of storytelling for the most part.
You’re going to love Episode 4. Episode 5 has some fairly major plot points potentially wrapped up, but the story of everyone involved is absolutely not ending here.
I think it’s a solid episode but it’s a bit underwhelming considering it has unity, the president, and dr wong. Didn’t get a lot of mileage from those big 3 so it’s not an efficient episode. The good news is that episode 4 is an absolute banger!
I agree with you, Dr. Wong was lying. Rick didn‘t really do anything wrong. The only thing that really bothers me about this episode is them referring to Unity as „she“ and a lady in the end. It doesn‘t make sense, Unity doesn‘t have a gender, they were fine using „it“ before and then „them“ this episode, so I don‘t understand why they changed that by the end. It feels inconsistent for the character. Other than that I really liked that this episode showed how Rick‘s changing. It‘s nowhere near the first Unity episode but I did like it. I really feel for Rick
yeah it was weird they kept flip-flopping it. Also I don't think Unity would use the female president as her "main" body. The only reason that was the main one was because she was the world leader in the current planet she was inhabiting. But I get it, it's for consistency for the audience who might not remember her or get confused
I LOOOOVE this episode and maybe u didnt noticed it but, all this episode is a "therapy" and not only for Rick clearly but mainly. There's a mexican(? youtuber who analyses all rick and morty episodes and i love every analysis. This episode returns to Rick's past... not in the usual way, by memories i mean, but by his relationships and i love Unity not only is the only being not family who loves him or cares for him (nos as a job lol) but also calls for a thing in Therapy and self development "u can be better and repair the damage to anothers, but they're not forced to forgive u" also i love this is another episode then Rick becomes more mature and its learning to expressing his fellings in the best way he can. "the terapist is in this episode, the Rick's way to express his feelings, maybe he's not doing directly, but hes DOING IT", im loving almost every R&M episodes on this season., 4 is the BEST yet. WAIT for it!!!
I loved this episode but yeah it really sticks in my craw how Wong sides with the *clearly* wrong Unity. But then you reminded me of the "So lie" part and now I like that more again because that's an easy explanation.
Like I’ve said before, it’s okay to be critical. Luckily, we’re getting Rick and Morty together again in the next one, and I have a feeling you’re gonna like it, because next week… ….Spaghetti……. …….That…that's all I choose to say right now. 😰
Everyone: 100 years of Rick and Morty means 100 years of Rick and Morty. Things are not going to go our way. The writers have been telling us for years... They know story circles... They have been letting us know, 100 years is going to have a lot of highs and lows... You'll get Morty and Rick, Rick and Morty, Morty no Rick, Rick no Morty... Jerry. 100 years... we made this bed.
Your criticism is valid, I feel somewhat the same. I like this episode but Morty is seriously missing from Rick and Morty season 7. It's basically the 3rd episode without them being on some stupid adventure together, 3rd episode where Morty is in the background. Voices aren't the problem, they're great, nor the absence of Justin but the writing is - however this isn't because Justin isn't working on the show anymore, as far as I understand Justin wasn't involved in writing for a long time. It's the same problem that existed before, mostly shown with some weird incest, sperm or dragon orgy episodes, but in this season this isn't that bad. It's certainly lacking but this is a longer problem. The show that long will have its ups and downs, and right now we're in the down.
I was never a big fan of the original Unity episode however this episode made me really like them and I want Rick and them to get together. I just really like this one cuz Wong and the President are 2 of my favorites and I think it shows Rick’s development great.
I feel like this season isn't as good as others, but this has happened before and then some amazing episode comes out. And even at it's worst, Rick and Morty is still better than 90% of other shows.
I enjoyed this episode but the biggest problem is the therapist as a plot resolving force. Her taking sides against rick in favor of unity is unreasonable specially as a therapist. So Rick isn't allowed to have boundries?
No, you’re right. The premiere and this one just weren’t there. This one reminded me of member berries from South Park more than a great episode. I think you’ll like the next one a little more.
When you lose up to half of the creative brain power of the show and you’re also not able to be motivated by the removal of that half being remotely justified(thank you, evidence and due process) then you run the risk of losing what made your product viable to begin with. You’re justified in not feeling this lackluster effort.
I did like the episode, mostly because the President is a really fun character and so is Dr. Wong. That being said, Wong's logic at the end makes less sense the more you think about it. Rick could have been less hostile but Unity is no saint either.
I agree with you that episode 1 was not the best, episode 2 was better, personally, I thought episode 3 was even better than 2 although I can see what you mean, I don't think this episode was aiming for a big heartfelt thing, especially since Rick has now moved on from Unity, but it was nice to see Rick with some minor characters where Rick is actually changing. Episode 4 is even better than the first three episodes though.
Rick sounds exactly the same, Morty sounds absolutely fucked up. But it kind of works. His insanely high pitched shrieks remind me of the first few seasons where Morty was funny just by his voice alone.
also here is an example of justin roiland's creative force th-cam.com/video/lZQbX7_Eeg4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SenpaiJay this is where mr jellybean comes from and why he molests morty. All roiland solo stuff is classy like that. The original rick and morty was a cartoon parody of back to the future where the boy who would become morty had to lick doc's nutsack. It was just that. Very fucking creative. What a creative force. God forbid they dont apreciate his motherfucking talent.
Im starting to see how some episodes feel a little bit flat. In this one, it doesn't really make sense how Unity is reintroduced in this episode. It feels like Unity "caring" about Rick was a bit of an excuse to take over Virginia. If she was able to travel all the way to Earth, why waste time on simple calls when she was right there. Also, the president being a selfish ego maniac felt a bit out of nowhere, at least in this episode. I dont know, thats just my writing critique
Rick and morty has always been stupid fun and the writing for most episodes excluding some standout bangers (which every season has) has been going in decline since season 4. At least this season doesnt have incest or sperm episodes, which for some fucking reason is a point over the last two. You're definitely just looking for thing to not enjoy, just like every other fanboy of this show has been doing. Plus, currently we're only 4 episodes in and that's a 100% not enough time to measure the quality of the show's output. At least wait till the season is over. Not to mention episodes 2 and 4 have been generally praised as being above average episodes and that's literally 50% of the STILL NOT COMPLETED run of this season. Yeah episode 1 was kind of family guy esque but shit, i laughed and enjoyed seeing Rick's gang of friends actually doing shit as actual friends in the first time since fucking season 2 (character relations in a show matter usually) and this episode was pretty enjoyable for most people too, nothing outstanding but the focus on the overarching growth of the main character should not be seen as a fucking handicap for a show, not that hard of a concept. Unity's return doesnt mean that Rick has to go back to fucking being secretly miserable and having a sad montage of sad music or some other stupid shit like that. Unless you want the main character of the show to regress all of his growth, of course. Those sad montages are fucking lazy in that sense. People really just want the show to keep repeating the same shit it used to be. That suicide attempt scene was probably just Roiland projecting tbh. Rick doesnt have to be a fucking manchild. That got really fucking old like 4 seasons ago. You probably already saw it but episode 4 had plenty of morty and some of that insane off the walls dark comedy based on sci fi that nostalgiatards crave, so that's covered too. Apparently episode 5 is going to feature or straight up be about the "catching rick prime" arc and that's just pure canonical lore development baby. So yeah, most people are indeed being too harsh towards the show because they've been conditioned to look for flaws since their favorite alcoholic groomer and possible wife beater was let go for being an absolute piece of shite.
The part where that guy was outed as a $cientologist for not believing in TheRapy really disturbed me. People really need to realize the p$ychiatry and $cientology are one and the exact same.
I can understand with everything changing even the voice actors, but maybe, if we all sit down and enjoy an episode over some spaghetti we can learn to appreciate this new version.
Your comment is genius lmao!
I just watched episode 4 and am losing it over this comment 🤣
@@alyciadweeb FYI keep going every step is going to be harder than the last but you are amazing and I know you can do it
Not gonna lie, seeing Rick go from, "I don't believe in therapy", to taking it seriously honestly put a smile on my face. He's learning.
No, he’s developing as a character and a person
yeah but also notice how this episode wasnt funny??? its a bad idea to "fix" your broken characters if it makes them boring.
He never said he didn’t believe in it, he just never thought it could do him any good.
I personally have the same view on therapy, I know it exists and helps people, but it’ll never help me
oh my god the foreshadowing for 7x9, I just noticed it watching your reaction.
I don’t think they were trying to strike the same weight to the tone of the episode as the first unity episode, because they do try to make a much more impactful story in it’s amorte,

Yo. Glad someone called it out: the future telling alien drew Bigfoot beating the shit out of Rick, happens 4 episodes later

At one point they do call it a them. Rick specifically when he tells the president not to insult them.

Is it weird the fact that Unity knows about Rick Prime?
The next episode felt like Rick and Morty.
I've been liking the season so far! If i were to rank episodes so far its: 4 > 2 > 3 > 1
it peaked in season 3

Hi! Thanks for sharing.
you are not wrong Alycia so far season has been weak
There was nothing Wong with that intro.
I missed Unity!
sorry you lost a finger 🤣🤣
Are you gonna react to The Boys too??
I didn't know what to expect from this show, but these episodes have felt slow and out of place.
