I’m new to points and flights, if I transfer over points now do I have to use them now? Or can I just keep them at BA till I’m ready to book in like a month or two?
I just completed last week a round trip on Qatar QSuites from Burbank to Johannesburg for total of 140,000 American Airlines miles. Had to fly economy from Burbank to Seattle first though as part of award trip. Then Qsuite to Doha and Qsuite to Johannesburg. Then the same in reverse. That was the best sweet spot award ever.
Could you do one on how to use points to go to Bali? I heard using Singapore airlines is the best way to go, but the amount of points needed seems like a lot!

What a great video! I have been diving deeper into award travel and look forward to booking my first business class flight! One question: I've heard that transferring from your credit card, let's just say Chase in this example, to an airline is a one way street. Let's say I transfer 10k points from my chase account to Jetblue. I thought that I wouldn't be able to move my points once they have been transferred to the airline? But in your example in the video, you transfer the points twice between airlines? I know about air alliances and how you can book flights for airlines in the same alliance on one's website for a different price but what's in your video seems different. Sorry if the way I explained my questions is confusing!
"Book an award flight" button doesn't seem to be working. I have been trying for the last few days to find various availability but it still keeps showing the cash page. I have logged in, looked at different routes (even 1 year in the future), gone through the "sped avios" tabs, but nothing seems to show me award flights. Thanks for the video. Do you need enough Avios points to search the flights? I can only see the dollar cost and not the point costs for these flights. I'm trying to search for Seattle to Maldives departing on November 30th and returning December 11th.
I tried following the steps. When I click the "book an award" button. it just refreshes the page and still shows the $ amount. I tried it on regular Chrome, Incognito, and Edge browsers. It didnt work on any of them.

Max there's only one issue with this... (I just got burned by it the other day) supposedly not sure if this is new or not, your accounts on any of the 4 transfer partners (Iberia, British Airways, Qatar or the last one.. forgot which one it is) needs to be active for 90 days or more before it lets you transfer Avios between accounts.
I love this technique. I looked for flights using aero.seats, Going, manual checks with Turkish airliens/Canada etc etc... MY question is how did you figure this out? Teach a man how to fish so next time we know how to look. Do you manually just check every single airline?

you don't need to transfer the miles first. I made the video with 0 avios in my account, I just ran a search with 0 avios and it worked. These are the steps. 1. Log into your Qatar account 2. Search using the search bar on the Qatarairways.com home page 3. Input your cities and date 4. Click on "Show Flights" 5. You'll see cash tickets but in the top right corner you'll see "Book an Award Flight" 6. Click on that 7. and it'll show you award tickets in Avios give that a try and let me know if it works for you!
The Maldives is expensive 🤷🏻♂️ haha. the alternative option is 70k AA miles but AA miles are hard to come by. The Maldives is far and cash price for the ticket is usually $5k + each way.

The reason is, my credit card also provides limited options for redemption and I want to explore that to what other airmiles to which I can transfer these points in case I find better deals.
No matter what I do on Qatar search tool it will not show me miles pricing only cash. I click the button to book award flight but it just loads that cash prices again.

We all seem to be having the same issue. It’s not showing award flights after we’ve logged in. Are you sure you don’t have to have any avios in your account?
Great video however just a few a stated, when logged into your account, I get a message stating you are not eligible to book reward redemption. Please call Member service centre.
Check back after 24 hours. I just confirmed on the mobile app and desktop that I’m able to see award availability and the points price without having any points in my account. If you continue to have issues let me know and I can help you troubleshoot!

@@BradleySpence What I've found out is some accounts are able to search for award availability while others are not. I think it has to do with how old your Qatar account is. I have to look into it more. In the mean time an alternative to search for availability before transferring is using AA or British Airways.

The Good News is AMEX has 40% bonus so I transferred 150K of UR points to BA for 210 K of Avios but the BAD news is so far zero availability from LAX!

This would be an effective rate of .7 cents per point though(not including the hundreds in fees). It would just be better to save up the $1300

Hey! It will be the same number of miles. The only way it would be cheaper is if you flew economy instead of business.
Qatar doesn’t show how many avios are needed for a route?
