    Here’s my low tech method Andy . Bang the flat of the trowel flat onto a concrete block , that will take most of the mortar off it .then scrap the remaining bits of mortar off with a rounded tipped pointing trowel . Hone it down to a finish with a margin trowel . Sand it then if you want to with a light grade sand paper. Any mortar in around the tang area I use the pointy corners of a Philadelphia trowel to chip it of . If it’s just rust I’m dealing with I just hand sand them . I’ve seen a good number of lovely trowels for sale on eBay that were butchered with those very hard grinding wheels . Even the first grinder you used I thought the sand paper on it was a bit coarse .

    The older whs trowels with the metal end cap, do you know if the cap is connected to the metal shaft of the handle in any way or can it be removed without loosening the handle ?. Thanks. 👍

    • @bricklayersworldwithandy6277
      @bricklayersworldwithandy6277  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cap is connected to the through tang in the handle, not sure if removing it will loosen the handle, probably not.You could put a rubber cap over it if that's the problem, Rose make them.

    Hi Andy, just wondered if i could get your opinion please. I'm starting a landscaping job, which includes a low level wall to retain the patio area. The wall will be 500-600mm high at one end and runs to nothing over 9 metres as the lawn below is on a massive slope. I will be using dense concrete blocks for the back skin and F1 clay facing brick to match the house.
    With it being 9 metres, would you be sticking an expansion joint in there?
    Thanks, Joe

      @bricklayersworldwithandy6277  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't bother with a wall that high that diminishes to nothing. For reference on a free standing wall every 6 metres the first one 3 metres in 👍
