Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You have no idea how happy you have made me. I have a rotary cutter, and I was told that the blades could NOT be sharpened. I am so glad to hear that they can be sharpened and that there are sharpeners for them. NICE!! Where I live, rotary cutter blades are hard to come by and very expensive, so I am SO GLAD to hear that they can be successfully sharpened. Again, thank you. I am ordering the sharpener from Amazon today.
thank you. I was just at Joann's and ask them how to sharpen blades. The staff said she did not think they could be sharpen.. today I found this video and went to Joann's low and behold they sale the sharpener. Thanks so much for sharing
@@petmomful2260 oh I have not worked for Joann’s My comment was in regard to the original person who posted because she said the employee did not think the blades could be sharpened. So that is a typical response from an employee at Joannes because half of them know nothing If you are considering a part-time job anywhere you want to register at a site called the glass door and there you will see comments from actual employees
I have had one of these for years. It never worked as expected. Now I know why. WATER!! Why my instructions didn't include this I don't know. I just used it with these instructions...wonderful results! Thank you so much for sharing this information.
Thank you so much! I just found one of these sharpeners at a local thrift store after watching your video....I was so excited. I came home and watched again and sharpened my blade while watching. Amazing, so much sharper. Thank you again, but I have a question; how long do these sharpeners usually last? Since mine is used I am sure it won't last as long as a new one.
I have one of these inexpensive dandy devices but didn't have particular success with it dry. After watching a professional use a whetstone at a local Repair Cafe I realized the importance of the water. Sure enough, went home and did the turns in water, success!
Thanks for a great video! Sharpening every other day can prematurely wear out your blade. I have found these little sharpeners produce inconsistent results, and seldom last long enough to pay for themselves. It's not difficult or costly to have rotary blades professionally sharpened, and can make your blades last much longer. Thanks again for all the great videos!
Hi You mentioned that the sand paper sharpener/honer was good for one hundred times. Do you mean it's good for one hundred blades or one hundred rotations..? Thanks
I appreciate your comprehensive tutorial, I have tried this method with similar equipment And I must admit, I was not pleased with the results. I will try again.
Behind the rotary cutter, there is a black screw. When I put back the blade, I have kind of a washer and the black screw. My question: is it important the side you put the washer and the screw: does it need to be screw very tight or just closedown normally?? Thanks.
Hello, There is only one type of sharpener being shown. There are two parts included. One part holds the blade and the other sharpens the blade. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
If you bang the blade holder down like she did you will damage the threaded part of the holder and soon it will not join the other side of the holder without cross threading ! Not only that the blade that you just sharpened could be damaged as it hits the surface. You must seat the blade over the inner blade support this ensures the centralisation of the blade that allows you to sharpen the blade correctly. Now I must get down off my high horse. point made!!!!!! :))

Excellent. Thank you.
Great video, learned a lot & wished I had seen it earlier! It could've saved me a lot of trouble :) Thank you!
just bought one and it works wonderfully

I have one too. I didn't care much for it, but I wasn't using the water. I'll have to try it now!

Thank you! Great idea!
I will try to find one right away. Just replaced my last blade and am making masks for medical professionals.
I like using my rotary cutter because I have arthritis in my wrists and scissors are painful to use. 🦌💌❤️🙏
Harbor Freight has blades for the 45. They are less than $2.00 for 2.
Ok i have one of those and it didnt work but i didnt use water and it didnt do both sides of the blade. So thank you for teaching me something
Thanks Pepper. quite informative.
Thank you!!!
I reuse my old holders to place my old sharps in. And tape it closed.
Hi is that apiece of card board on your desk? Like whats under a desk calendar? Whats best to use as an underlayment

Where can I buy these sharpening tools, please pretty please. Thank you
Is there a way to replace the sand paper on each side of the sharpener?
Thank you. Very helpful!
You can get this on Amazon too.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I have a 60mm blade and I just saw the replacement price. Ouch!
Didn't know about using water. Probably need to wipe dry the blade before putting into the handle. I also use a magnet to handle the blade.
You can find on Amazon as well.
How can the sharpener be repaired. Mine is worn out and doesn’t sharpen the blades anymore. Can it be replaced.
What is the 3rd sharpener fir? Solid, no hole.

surprising that you would pick up the blade with your fingers at the 1:21 minute mark!! unbelievable! NEVER EVER do that!
My PSA...have a small pair of needle nose pliers to handle your blades.
Wish someone would tell me why my cutter has to be tightened with every cut it makes ,or if I tightened it more it is too tight & won't roll
You may have the nut and bolt on wrong side.. this is why she said to carefully reassemble the way it comes apart. Blade goes on nut side.

Not just quilters use these Blades. Many of us regular Sewer's do too.... Good info though..

"At this point, please be careful...... razor sharp blade"
Well... If you sharpen it, that mean isn't sharp anymore.
Bought 3 of those and they do not sharpen .
or..... Colonial Needle 45mm Rotary Blade Sharpener
It is that one. She evidently doesn't know that Colonial Needle has a shop in White Plains, NY and also a website.
Sorry I got two of them one from Joanna and one on line and thay did not work
Those sharpeners are crap. Uses paper, not stones. Way too expensive to start with, it’s Junk!!!

Joanne's, $15-20
