Built one for my camper. Works perfect. Great video. The only thing I added was I drilled 2 holes on each side in the back and inserted a cotter pin in each hole. Keeps the back from slipping out and the cotter pins are easy to insert and remove.
Your design just might work for someone who cannot step up into a GMC Yukon or Suburban do the the height which is my wife's problem it's about 20 inches off the ground
How to make stairs that will go as high as to the roof of my house so I can chop down the tree off my roof and be able to make it like a Lego so I can move it around on my property chopping my trees?
Susan thanks for watching , thats the joy of the thing you can really build it any way you want , using whatever materials you have around , but to answer your question the two lower steps i flushed them on the front and let the 2x2s run past at the back by a inch or so , the top step i shortened them up some and the back piece i ran them full length , The main thing is to keep them so they fit fairly tight on the side pieces ,,,,good luck hope this helped

As I was watching this I was thinking along those same lines, except I thought about using a bolt, washer, and a wing nut
