      @@NerdImmersion agreed but on the same point WotC is flooding the market with less than stellar modules now would be the perfect time to expand the magic items pool. In my own I have considered enough items to make a small book just imagine what a team of people could make. Not to mention that we are a quarter step away from all the beyond homebrew being claimed by WotC under the same contract that DM's guild is under. So even easier.

    I run my games the same as you Ted. It's tense, but fun. Sometimes they struggle, and sometimes the Druid casts Wall of Fire against one side of a 10ft wide corridor stacked with ~20 Gnolls, and 1 Armoured Ogre, with the Ogre at the furthest (blocked) point, and it having Initiative on the Gnolls and wanting to GTFO now. About 1000HP of (distributed) damage in one round.... SMH

    I'm just going to be one of those people and mention another item, one that works for Warlock and I'd like to see on the Wizard list. The Mizzium Apparatus, found in Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica, it's attunement by Sorcerers Warlocks and Wizards and is uncommon, though it should honestly be at least rare or maybe very rare (in my opinion). To put it simply if you have an appropriate level spell slot for a spell on any of your spell lists, you can attempt to cast it, first expanding the spell slot and then rolling arcana, DC=10+(2*Spell Slot used), so Fireball with a level 3 spell slot would be DC 16. If you succeed you cast the spell as planned, if you fail you cast a different spell on it's little table depending on what level slot you used, cantrips are DC 10 and don't have a little table. This is incredibly powerful for multiclassing since if you have 3 levels in Wizard and 2 in Druid or something you are a 5th level caster and can cast any 3rd level spell from either the Wizard or Druid spell list. Ignoring the OP multiclassing potential with it, it's a fun item to give Warlocks and Sorcerers, the classes know so few spells at a time and you can basically trade a in less fun wild magic type effect for the ability to cast the perfect spell for the situation. And for Wizards who don't care about a spell book or learning/copying spells, because you potentially have all of them with a probably very high arcana check, perfect, which means the Wizard would probably never complain about a lack of scrolls; gold; time to copy/learn spells, a lazy DM's solution and a lazy way to not care about preparing spells. Though I wouldn't recommended this item to any kind of problem player (obvious I know), the DM should only give this item to a player they trust and have talked to about it. They still have to manage their resources like Spell Slots properly, but the amount of solutions they'd have to every problem is very high. This is a powerful item but is only truly broken when given to a problem player multiclassing, in my opinion.
    I will say I think it would be cool if the magical mishap that happened when you fail the Arcana check was more wild than just casting Fireball in place of Tongues, if you are thinking about using this item maybe talk to the DM/Player about take the Sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge table as inspiration for a replacement mishap, maybe just flat out use the Wild Magic table in place of casting the spell instead. Also this doesn't work with the spells you get from your subclasses like expanded spell lists, because you either learn or get a chance to learn those spells when you reach those levels. They're never added to any spell list, this including Divine Soul Sorcerers learning Cleric spells. Also don't take forever looking for the perfect spell, take maybe a minute max to look for it depending on context and if you can't find it, than your character probably doesn't remember or understand enough about the spell to even attempt casting it in that moment. Again, my personal opinion.

    The imbued wooden focus does not work with Eldritch Blast because it doesn't have a material component and therefore can't be replaced with an Arcane focus.

    The best magical armor for light armor-only PCs is medium armor, ironically enough. Generally speaking, elven chain is going to be mechanically better than glamoured studded leather unless a PC is DEX-based, is the party face and/or wants to disguise their armor, or has some other flavor reason to want the leather. You get an additional 1 AC on the base armor, so you'd need a +3 DEX modifier to match elven chain with glamoured studded leather. Both rare, both non-attunement. I think not including it here is an oversight.

    I'm very surprised that the Rod of Absorption wasn't included in this list. My warlock had one of them in their later levels, and it was as if the world had opened up. I could cast so many more spells by using the Rod of Absorption's charges, and I could instantly shut down any single target spell cast at me by using the Rod of Absorption's spell negation ability. The real fun part is that the Rod of Absorption specifies "You can create spell slots only of a level equal to or lower than your own spell slots, up to a maximum of 5th level.", meaning my warlock could actually downcast spells they had that didn't scale with upcasting them to 5th level. Very good warlock item.

      "the rod can absorb and store up to 50 levels of energy over the course of its existence. once the rod has absorbed 50 levels of energy, it can't absorb more"

      @@definitelynotabot593 Right, that is true. But still, for the while my warlock had it I never got over the max. Lasts a surprisingly long time. Then again, I was playing a hexblade, so I didn't need spells to deal damage or be useful.

    I'm currently running my first campaign, started at level 1 and the players are at level 3. While I haven't TPKed them yet, twice they were down to a 1 on 1 and a dice roll to decide their fates. As well as 2 or 3 other times where they where a few dice rolls away from rolling up new characters. I try not to pull any punches but may have dropped an extra healing potion or two that I wasn't originally planning on. This list certainly help me figure out what items to offer to the party warlock after he angered his patron and takes steps to get back on his good side.

    This idea is 100% on your dm but this is the text I just sent my dm in hopes he puts these in the game for me. Back story will be lvl 6 after next long rest I'm a warlock that's dipping into bard so I'll take my second and last lvl of bard after our next long rest. But here's an idea besides eldric blast
    Illusionist bracers. A very rare wonderus item. Effect: cast a cantrip as an action you can cast that same cantrip as a bonus action. Probably the most powerful item for a warlock. Hahaha how I would use it.
    Cast unseen servant. Cast find familiar. Give both an instrument. Go preform at a busy rich area. Cast minor Illusion 2x for more musical effects. Once I have a decent audience cast a combination of friends 2x. Charm person from staff ( staff of charming). And fey presence to charm again. Take all their money and misty step out before I get torn to peices

    The imbued wood focus would only give you a +1 to a single damage roll, so one of your eight Eldritch Blasts would get that damage buff. That's not very good at high levels. I'd go for a magic item from the all class list, probably ring of spell storing given the boost to spell save DCs.

    So tired of poorly desugned wildemount content. It is setting specific and never allowed for a reason.
    Being third party setting specific homebrew that did not go through unearthed arcana doesnt help the case much, however much i love critical role it is always banned and will never be in a wizards book. They just sold it for critrole to earn money on that homebrew setting.

    I'm currently in a campaign as a Fighter 3/Warlock X, Echo Knight/Hexblade who is trying to break away from the blaster build.
    What would you put as your "endgame" three attunement items?

    • @NerdImmersion
      @NerdImmersion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you're focusing more on Physical damage then? It's hard to determine without knowing where you're leaning as far as playstyle.
      If you're going to be in melee all the time, I'd suggest some good armor and a good weapon. I like Duskcrusher a lot as a weapon, same with Sunforger. (If you're going legendary I like Matalotok)
      If you're going foe a one handed weapon I like Shield of the Uven rune for attunement as well.
      I'd probably still stick with the Illusionist's Bracers as you could still cast something like Booming Blade or Greenflame blade twice with it

    • @AReed030188
      @AReed030188 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NerdImmersion Yes the build is focused on melee, single handed plus a shield. Damage bonuses from Hex, Hexblade's Curse, Maddening Hex, and Spirit Shroud (when I have the spell slot to spare, bosses etc.), with movement options from Relentless Hex and the Echo Knight features. I've been trying to give myself as many options as possible with my bonus action so it never goes to waste.
      Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to look these up and see if I can subtly convince my DM that I need them.
