    Even though Oris has been around since 1904 they feel like a newer brand on the rise. I picked up a green dial Oris diver 65 on a tropic rubber strap at the start of summer. It's been perfect for going to the pool, boating and that type of thing.

    This video perfectly demonstrates why I love Oris SO much, that I decided last year to make their Big Crown Pointer Date my first ever (_entry level_) luxury watch purchase. A cool, mid-sized independent with history, recognizable design and charisma.

    The Oris Full Steel is freaking awesome! It's weirdly both small and big... the 36.5mm size includes the crown guards so it's around 34.5mm at that flat part before the crown and L2L is 46mm including the flare of the bracelet. The lug width may be 18mm but the bracelet starts at 20mm and tapers to 18mm with a 19mm clasp. It's a watch that's transformed off the bracelet and the shrouded lugs give any strap a unique look. If it's too small for you, Oris has released the caliber 690 in bigger watches (like the ProPilot Worldtimer) and Ulysse Nardin has some contrasting discrete dual time versions (calibers 203, 223 with big date, and 243 with big date + small seconds).

  • @garethsigrist8714
    @garethsigrist8714 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I’m a huge fan of Oris and I have 2 (so far) in my collection, a 41mm regular ProPilot and a 43.5mm Aquis.
    My first Oris was the first time I had crossed over into paying four figures for a watch which was and still is a big step for me buying something as unnecessary as a wrist watch. As you touched on in the video a big part of the appeal of Oris is the fact they’re independent. It’s a silly reason to love a watch maker but for whatever reason, it matters to me.
    The trio you got hands on with are all a little bit too “out there” for me and my ultra boring taste (to borrow a phrase from Henry Ford I like my dials “any colour you like as long as it’s black” 😂) but I love that Oris relentlessly do their own thing. Although I really like the Hölstein Edition Worldtimer 👀
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these watches with us.

  • @UltraDoug
    @UltraDoug 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah it’s a neat trick that Oris has pulled off. They are the “that guy” of the watch world. Like in a movie, you really don’t remember “that guy” until you see them and then you are so glad they’re in the movie because they make it that much better. I haven’t found and Oris that fits my style either just yet, but I hope to one day. Mean time, I’m glad they exist.

    Oris is just not for hipsters that put every watch on NATO lol ;) Sorry for a bad joke! :P Their rubber straps are brilliant and to be honest I can't imagine an Aquis on anything other than the original strap. Changing straps is fun and everything but integration is just a higher level of design and commitment.

    Real talk: no socks and shoes in a review should be considered top tier. Bonus for sitting criss/cross apple sauce

    I'm a big fan of Oris. My favorite watch is my Aquis, wearing it now. I tried on the PPX salmon dial and I really liked it, fit great, but I'm waiting for a green dial and I really hope they *do a SS case. I'm not a fan of grade 2 titanium. Otherwise, amazing watch.
    BTW oysters are GD amazing. With some good horseradish ooohhhh baby.

    I like Oris as brand. I like their Big Crown models, but Little else. And even the Big Crown models haven’t caused me to buy one. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I also keep rooting for them. I hope they continue to innovate but I really hope they come up with a design that speaks to my aesthetic.

    Really enjoy your videos, I just picked up the ProPilot X with the Blue dial. So lightweight and comfortable. Perfect summer watch. Not a fan of the green on the NY Harbor

    as a multi swatch owner I don't hate tiny watches, but that Holstein is just kinda weird looking, I love the pro pilot though, especially in grey

    I love oris, I don’t have one yet (funds/wife) but I will eventually. Either pointer date or they ever make a gmt that may be it.

    I really vibe with the Oris red dial pointer date on the strap, has a lot of room for some funky strap combinations

    The holstein one is really cool. If it was a bit bigger I would buy one for sure. To those with smaller wrists for this one, I envy you.
