40 HP Hot Bulb Engine startup with massive amount of sparks and smoke

This crude oil hot bulb engine hadn't been started for over 40 years, and had a lot of carbon deposit and oil gunk in the crank case. This created a lot of smoke, fire and sparks. Enjoy!

Might it run better if the hot bulb was at a temperature its original Engineers might recognise? Looks a bit hot to me, but then I read how it hasn’t run in 40 years. Burning out the gunk then!

Good question! Yes sometimes it can be a good practice to continue heating the hot bulb, until the engine is hot enough, and can keep the bulb hot by itself 🔥🌡

Yes a 90° pipe, he was afraid that the sparks could entering the barn to the right, which is full of hay.
