Man... I have a 98' Volvo S70 (which was bought the same year). The only real problem I had was the airconditioning. Other than that, It's been working just like new for those wonderful 11 years. I wouldn't trade my Volvo for any car(unless for another volvo and an Austin Martin) just because of the great expirience I have had. An example was an accident I was involved. A truck ran over me and the only thing we had to do was change the hood and the grill. Those cars are really good and tough.
Would this not be a personal issue ... because living in the UK it's better for us to have FWD RWD tail is way to happy and just slides around in the snow. And wet weather. Cars like these are known as dry weather cars 😂
I know it's a 11 year old comment. But no, you really can't change the stereo, it controls the AC, heated seats and more, it's a computer basically, no stereo could replace the original one unless you'd be okey to loose a lot of features.
WOW... that's nice info. I though that the sport package was supposed to make it smoother. Ironic. LOL. But thanx again for the info. Maybe that's why mine isn't smooth at all. I was also thinking maybe it could be that it's a really heavy car. It's weight takes a toll on the shock absorbers and with really bad roads on the list, shock absorbers don't do much.
@razgriz04 Yeah im planning to get an S80 in the next year or two so I've been looking into the different options. Apparantly the comfort chassis is a no cost option. Im sure the weight of the car also has an effect. Those volvos sure are weighty! Thats the price you pay for all that refinement and safety!
I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo recently. People, don't freak out Volvo will still be made in Sweden and in Belgium and have its own board of directors so it will be Volvo's own thinking. And Geely will only be reciving parts and technologes from Volvo, not the other way around.
@libetta Sorry man. It doesn't ride smooth at all. My girlfriend's Mitsubishi Lancer rides a lot smoother than that. If I accelerate it to about 70 MPH, it feels like a rocketship [most of this due to really bad roads, but that doesnt happen on the BMW 530i my dad has ;)] LOL. But they do have a really nice and confy interior. =)
Seats definetelly not supportive. Maybe they designed for long straight road trips. Maybe supportive seats offered only in top trim versions. Strangely back seat offer some side support. Instruments lacking engine temperature sensor, lots of small buttons in center console. Ride without adujustable suspension average at best.
My girlfriend's FIRST car was a 2000 Volvo S80 that she paid $10,000 in 2008. WHAT A MONEY-PIT VOLVO'S ARE!!! The high-price means high-reliability. These cars suck! The engine compartment is extremely cramped even in a non-turbo. To get a single part you need to take 4 other things out. They break down constantly and the parts are extremely expensive. My Girlfriend has replaced Transmission $3,500. Alternator $800. Axel shaft $700. ABS module $700. O2 Sensor $400. All within 16,000 miles.
I don't use premium in mine all the time and it doesn't require it. I have the 3.2. Your Lincoln question is valid but I've found that buyers who like Euro design tend to stick with it. I think the Volvo has aged better. I get lots of comments on mine, which is Black w/ factory Chrome Venator wheels.
@Miko - You can run regular in it, but the computer will hold back in order to prevent engine damage, thereby further reducing performance and gas mileage. The Acura TL and Lexus ES from the time also "strongly encourage" higher octane, but have higher average gas mileage overall. That said, the Acura TL doesn't have cooled seats though, so there is that :-).
The mkz gets 3mpg better highway but produces 50hp less and takes over 1.5 seconds longer to reach 60mph. Not to mention it won't match the Volvo in safety, reliability, longevity or comfort. You're delusional lmao.
Volvos are really reliable they are like tanks its amazing. My dad has one with 320k miles and still running strong just regular maintanance
this is why i love Volvo, they have a unique and different approach to everything.. Love Volvo, Love Scandinavian flair...

Volvo's wholesale switch from RWD to FWD was not a good thing. The V8 model being standard AWD is good, however.
Would this not be a personal issue ... because living in the UK it's better for us to have FWD
RWD tail is way to happy and just slides around in the snow. And wet weather.
Cars like these are known as dry weather cars 😂
One of my favorite cars... SHe looks amazing in my opinion
Automatic or manual transmission ? For 2.0 diesel...
the interior is amazing.
If you tuned the V8, how much power could we expect from it? How about the T6?
how does it feel ro ride in it? i want a car that keeps the passengers comfortable through long drives. and hows the fuel economy?
The v8 engine has 315hp and the t6 engine has 285hp
@AdrianC12345 I agree, The interior materials seems to be much better too
I drive the V8 with the sports package and I love this car. I am having it race tuned to boost HP and performance but this car turns heads as it is.
What's the hp number you are getting after the tune?
Great Cars , they exhibit Luxury , simplicity, Safety,Reliability without Opulencia. ❤
@MrEscape7 I know how much power they have, I wanted to know how much power we could get out of it if we tuned the engine.
This review is crazy how much it gets wrong. Like someone made it in 30 mins right before recording the VO.
if wanted is it possible to replace the stereo? i don't really like the navi volvo offers.
I know it's a 11 year old comment. But no, you really can't change the stereo, it controls the AC, heated seats and more, it's a computer basically, no stereo could replace the original one unless you'd be okey to loose a lot of features.
Hey one question, do you think S80 seats will fit S60? Both are 2009. Thanks!
@razgriz04 it rides smooth if you dont get the optional sport package
everything about this car seems perfect except for its wide turning circle
@vika01
yes but you live in sweden
Real wood ? Did you hear that USA ? :D :D :D not fake
yamahaevo Check you Cadillac Escalade Platinum

the s80 is the flagship of volvo.
The S90 is the flagship now
the s80 is now there midsize sedan now i think.
No the S80 is no longer produced.
i would say its the new XC90
@deltasworder1x Like all Volvos It is way way more comfortable than any Merc, Audi, or BMW. much smoother ride too.
Hooray!
it's headed of its time.
@ChocolatePoop1301 I assume you mean I should get an STS Turbo kit for my 4.4 liter V8 - and yes.. that would be pretty sic.
where's the usual narrator???
@mrjustin5 yeah i got a 2002 volvo s80 for $6k. It works perfectly. So either you got a screwed up car or your girlfriend doesnt know how to drive.
7 series/S-Class car for 3 series/C-Class money!!!
Then show them why it's cool to be different!

@mrjustin5: either the car was broken in first place, or... or your your girlfriend simply doesn't know how to drive
it doesn't actually detect a heartbeat!
DoorisJ ok
@libetta

@madfacemedia get an STS turbo - more power, money

Yay! Volvo's sister is saved! Yesterday night Saab was bought by Spyker! Consider a Saab too, now that is free from the idiots at GM
Did not turn out that great now, did it...
look like Limousine
lol...auxiliary...not auxiliurly... :P lol
@djkasdjkasdjdjdj ur mom is my source WTF dude of course its consumer reports

mrjustin5 That's what is called a lemon, my friend.
I do heard s80s in that generation are notorious for its electrical and computerized widgetz problems
@@djkasdjkasdjdjdj I have an 02. It's fantastic. Not all of them are. I think the 1999-2000/2001 were the most problematic.
Not terribly quick, disappointing gas mileage, and requires premium fuel. Why choose this over a Lincoln MKZ from the time?
I don't use premium in mine all the time and it doesn't require it. I have the 3.2. Your Lincoln question is valid but I've found that buyers who like Euro design tend to stick with it. Yeah it doesn’t accelerate quick and the gas mileage is poor but is a nice car
The mkz gets 3mpg better highway but produces 50hp less and takes over 1.5 seconds longer to reach 60mph. Not to mention it won't match the Volvo in safety, reliability, longevity or comfort. You're delusional lmao.
Get the turbo 6s if you buy it used and care about acceleration. They're plenty quick.
