This is what I love about SRT. The characters from other series can intervene and prevent them from dying, or in this case, preventing them from going 12,000 years into the future.
OMG the ending was awesome. SRW really is the king of Cross-overs. Only with the help of 3 Super Robots could they avert the ending of the actual Gunbuster Anime. Heck GUY would have sufficed but Shin Getter AND Raideen? She is SOOOO getting out safely.
Gunbuster confirmed for the Z3 Saga! It's about time she got back on the HD screen! Can't wait to see how Noriko interacts with Esther since they seem like they would be great friends.
The Buster Tomahawk and Buster Home Run attacks are from the radio dramas. Buster Ring and Buster Cowboy where mentioned in those dramas too, but I have no idea what they do because they not appear in any Super Robot Wars game.
I have a picture of some trading cards that has Buster home run. As well as some other odd looking attacks. One has Gunbuster riding on one of the aliens like a cowboy. And another has a whirlwind coming out of Gunbusters hands.
She developed those well toned screams during her years voice acting for Akene Tendo of Ranma ½. Search the "Baka song" here on youtube and you'll see her voicing dexterity.
Gunbuster is not only good, it is awesome. Only six episodes long, the first three can be kind of slow for some people, but it picks up the pace in episode four and five especially. Noriko Takaya, the pilot, is my number one favorite female in anime and video games. Her voice actor is totally awesome when it comes to screaming those hot blooded attack names.
@kaiserxblue No, they're from official media produced by Gainax. They were on a set of stickers or cards with a bunch of other attacks that don't appear in the anime.
Noriko and Kasumi were going to sacrifice themselves (for some reason, dunno, haven't played), and Jung was going to take their place. But they said they would do it. Then Ryoma, Guy, and Akira came and gave the two encouragement and energy for their final move. Hope that helps :D
@vanhiggins77 Both the Buster Tomahawk and home run bat appear in the anime, during the combination sequence they can be seen inside BM1's shoulder cavity.
With 2 power cores pumping out more power then the sun and enuf firepower to take out 3 million alien ships 70 miles long in one shot, the Gunbuster is on a different level of overpowered.
Gunbuster is a show produced by GAINAX, featuring a robot that's 200 METRES TALL, uses a BASEBALL BAT, fights back literaly BILLIONS of enemies, and piloted by a girl who practically INVENTED FAN-SERVICE in robot animes. How much more could anyone ask for?
@Colddirector They're recreating the ending of Gunbuster, where Noriko rips Gunbuster's own reactor out to activate the black hole bomb. The only difference is that the other three aren't there in the anime. A
the alpha timeline is pretty much done with. But the slight chance that they continue this timeline, which is unlikely, they could probably write a way to include it. The Z series can easily have both series together at the same time with its constant dimension crossing.
...on a side note, I can't recall ever seeing the Buster Home Run in the Gunbuster anime. Did they just never use the attack, or did Banpresto add it in?
@ThisSiteCutMyNameOff Unfortunately, Banpresto has a rule of 'three years'. Once a series has been non-current for three years, they'll add it. They only let SEED into Alpha 3 because it was so popular. So it'll be 2013 at the earliest for Rebuild, probably closer to 2014.
And here's the funny part: At 240 metres overall, the Gunbuster is TALLER than Shin Getter Robo (55 m regardless of form), Raideen (52 m) and GaoGaiGar (31.5 m) COMBINED!
when Kamina grew up he wanted to be like "nono-riri" the reason he never mentions it is because he realized he realized it was impossible to be that gar.
Was Gunbuster ever released stateside? I only recently got into anime, so I have no idea if it ever got dubbed/subbed by a US company. Heck, I dunno when gunbuster was even made
@Strikerflame Really? Well then, I stand corrected. Though perhaps it fits under the 'SEED Exemption rule' by being popular. Or maybe it's a loophole since Rebuild is a remake of a series more than a decade old...Well, point remains, that with FEW exceptions, Banpresto has a 'three year' rule to avoid spoilers, since they basically retell the story in each game.
The Gunbuster robot does not use a baseball bat or a tomahawk....Those are this that Banpresto put in it for more attacks... See the anime for yourself....
Can't forget about baseball. Although really the Neo Granzon is on a whole another level of overpowered since the thing just conjures up black holes on demand and all.
@countrybluegrass Perhaps you're right. But like yousaid before. Those are for media purposes only. Therefor to the are not official techniques(attacks). It's just for marketing so Gainax can sell their merchandise.
So let me see... Akira and Ryoma the older super robot pilots... with Gai and Noriko being from new super robot series that were meant to be homage to older super robots.. all in the same game. I really need to finish the alpha series now for this and Ibis =3
Seeing her using the Tomahawk and the Beam just makes me wonder... Why the hell didn't Banpresto make any team attacks between Gunbuster and the Getters!?!?
Banpresto needs to get it together and have Diebuster in the next console SRW, among other series such as Rebuild of Eva, Gundam 00, Code Geass, Macross F, and of course GURREN LAGANN.
@Tetsuron Armageddon shows up in a few, D, Z2 I think one or two others. For the vast majority of the series history they used this Ryouma though, and other than D (a GBA game) the games with Armageddon have all been in the past few years.
@twitchykun I bet, she would have been able to slaughter the Anti-Spirals with tied hands. Noriko! Go for it! Show them all what courage and effort can do! *plays Gunmachine March* We believe in you!
Holy crap, it's older than I am o_o Probably explains the overpoweredness of the gunbuster mech, and the fact that the character portraits do look aged compared to more recent animes. If the anime itself is good, though, age does not matter.....is it good? *is too lazy to dig out eps of it from torrent sites*
Several in fact Godannar sees both Anna and Shizuru, Shin! (Change!) Getter Robo has Kei, G Gundam had Allenby, Evangelion has Asuka and of course Sequel Diebuster has Nono They're there, you just have to look around a bit
Naturally, they can't use the exact ending. The SRW series figures out how to recreate each Robo's anime, while incorperating all the other Robos into the different storylines, and keep their own original storyline as well. Now if only I spoke japaneese so I knew what that was...
"So Gunbuster is invincible because it has two reactors?" "WRONG, TAKAYA! Gunbuster is invincible because it is powered by willpower and effort: willpower and effort are infinite!"
No, its offical, though it didn't ever appear in animation. I belive that it was used in the Radio Dramas, along with a few other wackier weapons But it is offical, hell, even the New Soul of Chokigen Gunbuster has it
This is what I love about SRT. The characters from other series can intervene and prevent them from dying, or in this case, preventing them from going 12,000 years into the future.
My boy Shinji was one that get the most out of it, he has real pals there
Noriko! Your INAZUMA KICK is the kick that will pierce the HEAVENS!
5:40 actually made me cry. I love this scene
I'm glad you added that last bit. That was one of the moments that defined SRW Alpha 3 for me.
Gunbuster is just badass like that.
Watching the SIX greatest mecha fighter heroes together kicking monster ass is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE EVER SEEN lol
The Gunbuster Pose, will always be the legend that GAINAX created for us.
Yup. Unlocked a couple of attacks for the 'buster, Buster Home Run, and Buster Tomahawk Boomerang.
I have a picture of some trading cards that has Buster home run. As well as some other odd looking attacks. One has Gunbuster riding on one of the aliens like a cowboy. And another has a whirlwind coming out of Gunbusters hands.

@kaiserxblue
No, they're from official media produced by Gainax. They were on a set of stickers or cards with a bunch of other attacks that don't appear in the anime.
I love Gunbuster's theme, her hot bloodedness, and Gunbuster's crossed arms pose.
It's not in this video but the way the actress shout homing missiles ( トップをねらえ! ガンバスター合体 2min 06) is incredible
Noriko and Kasumi were going to sacrifice themselves (for some reason, dunno, haven't played), and Jung was going to take their place. But they said they would do it. Then Ryoma, Guy, and Akira came and gave the two encouragement and energy for their final move.
Hope that helps :D
buster tomahawk = getter double tomahawk
Absolute height is 250 m (going from foot to the top of the shoulders).
Height from head-to-toe is 200 m.
@vanhiggins77
Both the Buster Tomahawk and home run bat appear in the anime, during the combination sequence they can be seen inside BM1's shoulder cavity.
They change Gunbuster's ending and bring them all back safe and sound in a timely manner through badass inspiration speeches.
With 2 power cores pumping out more power then the sun and enuf firepower to take out 3 million alien ships 70 miles long in one shot, the Gunbuster is on a different level of overpowered.

Literally sending chills down your spine..
A giant robot that makes the Archangel look tiny in comparison. It DODGES.
OH MY GOD IT DODGES. *awesomesplode*
@Colddirector They're recreating the ending of Gunbuster, where Noriko rips Gunbuster's own reactor out to activate the black hole bomb. The only difference is that the other three aren't there in the anime. A
Quick question: the setting is the final episode/Buster Machine 3/Blackhole Bomb, right?
Isn't there a sequence in SRW Alpha somewhere with the resident otaku (Noriko and Ryuusei) picking up super robot piloting tips from Ryoma?
the alpha timeline is pretty much done with.
They released a box set over here back in February (it was made in 1988).
God, I could listen to Noriko's hot-blooded screams all day long.
don't forget the Valsione pilot. any mech that has a face that mimics the owners is made for awesome.
True, remember Ideon in order to properly finish the game you have to avoid the Ideon ending
Getter Robo & GaoGaiGar in the same room?
-MIND EXPLODES FROM SHEER GAR-
True since OG only consists of orginal characters and mechas made specially for the games
@thewizardninja
Banpresto's been doing it for years.
But aren't all these games like this? I do see your point, however.
gunbuster and gao gai gar
now thats a team
@ThisSiteCutMyNameOff Unfortunately, Banpresto has a rule of 'three years'. Once a series has been non-current for three years, they'll add it. They only let SEED into Alpha 3 because it was so popular.
So it'll be 2013 at the earliest for Rebuild, probably closer to 2014.
There's a 4Koma of one of the games detailing just such a move.
And here's the funny part: At 240 metres overall, the Gunbuster is TALLER than Shin Getter Robo (55 m regardless of form), Raideen (52 m) and GaoGaiGar (31.5 m) COMBINED!
BEAUTIFUL
Does anybody ever forget the final scene of the last episode of Gunbuster? I can't imagine anyone doing so.
저기자체가 목성을 3만배로 압축한 곳인데 건버스터외에 다른로봇들은 있을수가없다..
But darn OG rocks on its own! VARIABLE FORMATION!
Yes it is, very good. Perhaps one of the greatest super robot animes of all time. In my opinion at least.
when Kamina grew up he wanted to be like "nono-riri" the reason he never mentions it is because he realized he realized it was impossible to be that gar.
No, that's Sizzler Black. Which Jung is piloting at the start of the video.
Was Gunbuster ever released stateside? I only recently got into anime, so I have no idea if it ever got dubbed/subbed by a US company. Heck, I dunno when gunbuster was even made
Kushuha suggests it. It ends with Noriko worriedly asking "What if they throw a ball instead of a strike?"
He's wearing awesome gold armor; you can trust him!
Well taught in my opinion.
Toei Ryoma?
Do the Armageddon/Shin Getter versions of the Getter characters appear in any of these games?
It's called Fly High. I forgot who performs it.
@BrotherhoodOfTheDead o.o what this card for? i don't even
The Gunbuster robot does not use a baseball bat or a tomahawk....Those are this that Banpresto put in it for more attacks...
See the anime for yourself....
This man speaks great truths.
Can't forget about baseball.
Although really the Neo Granzon is on a whole another level of overpowered since the thing just conjures up black holes on demand and all.
@countrybluegrass
Perhaps you're right. But like yousaid before. Those are for media purposes only. Therefor to the are not official techniques(attacks). It's just for marketing so Gainax can sell their merchandise.
Buster Tomahawk? I can see who's been teaching Noriko new attacks.
The most fucking awesome fliying kick ever xD
Unfortunately, if I'm not mistaken, GAINAX has explicitly stated TTGL will NEVER be in an SRW game.
EVER.
Banpresto needs to get it together and have Diebuster in the next console SRW, among other series such as Rebuild of Eva, Gundam 00, Code Geass, Macross F, and of course GURREN LAGANN.
@RitaChan00
your right
when my friend first got @3 we spent hours on seeing what everything does
lol it was kinda fun
I could imagine something like "Getter Homerun" where Gunbuster whacks Stoner Sunshine at the enemy.
@Tetsuron Armageddon shows up in a few, D, Z2 I think one or two others. For the vast majority of the series history they used this Ryouma though, and other than D (a GBA game) the games with Armageddon have all been in the past few years.
@DrNightbringer
Sounds like you never watched Gunbuster. The baseball bat wasn't in the show.
Noriko = Simon's great-great-great-great-great-great grandma.
Only (Big)Volffog is authorized to cross his arms in the same awesome manner as Gunbuster.
They're all Super Deformed so they can fit them on the screen.
Though in the game, I believe they see them all as their actual size.
@twitchykun
I bet, she would have been able to slaughter the Anti-Spirals with tied hands. Noriko! Go for it!
Show them all what courage and effort can do! *plays Gunmachine March*
We believe in you!
Holy crap, it's older than I am o_o
Probably explains the overpoweredness of the gunbuster mech, and the fact that the character portraits do look aged compared to more recent animes. If the anime itself is good, though, age does not matter.....is it good? *is too lazy to dig out eps of it from torrent sites*
@captaincody27 maybe in the next SRW maybe we get a Double Inazuma kick (the Gurren Lagann can preform it so who knows?)
Several in fact
Godannar sees both Anna and Shizuru, Shin! (Change!) Getter Robo has Kei, G Gundam had Allenby, Evangelion has Asuka and of course Sequel Diebuster has Nono
They're there, you just have to look around a bit
@sonickid101 maybe SRW Z3?
@metalgeard222 Would he? Considering that was a secret attack in Alpha 1 and it was learned after training with the Getter Team...
Naturally, they can't use the exact ending. The SRW series figures out how to recreate each Robo's anime, while incorperating all the other Robos into the different storylines, and keep their own original storyline as well. Now if only I spoke japaneese so I knew what that was...
"So Gunbuster is invincible because it has two reactors?"
"WRONG, TAKAYA! Gunbuster is invincible because it is powered by willpower and effort: willpower and effort are infinite!"
Seriously, Gunbuster and Diebuster SHOULD be in Z3. Nono, Noriko and Simon would DEFINITELY get together.
@MajingaZ
And only because Volffog is a ninja (more or less). Only ninjas and Gunbuster can do that. Just ask Schwartz Bruder.
... You got some voiced dialogues in Z2 too, you know.
I could see a getter/buster tomahawk team-up move
what a catchy tune
@MajingaZ Thats because he's the most badass police car ninja EVAR.
Well, it IS GAINAX we're talking about here...
Map Attack.
Probably wasn't included for that reason.
HA HA She said Buster Tamahaooook. She must have learned that from Ryoma. Getta Tamahawk Boomarang always makes me laugh.
That would be the sh!t! Getter, Buster BEAM! Getter Buster Tomohawk too!
and Ryoma Nagare = Simon's great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandpa
No, its offical, though it didn't ever appear in animation. I belive that it was used in the Radio Dramas, along with a few other wackier weapons
But it is offical, hell, even the New Soul of Chokigen Gunbuster has it
Getter(Buster)....BEAAAAAM!
Am I the only one who would like to see that?
It's the trademark of Gunbuster, watch the anime and you'll see ^^
Still hoping for the day Diebuster and Gunbuster are in the same SRW and I get my Super Triple Inazuma Kick.
Alpha Gaiden 2
Because we need yet another SRW with Tetsuya as the main character
What is Lune piloting?
So, umm, what's actually happening in that scene?
