Shadow Systems MR920 Elite: it has no equal.

- Is the MR920 Elite the greatest carry gun ever? I think so, and while there are many reasons ranging from quality to accuracy to reliability… the biggest reason why they are the best is because Shadow Systems makes you an offer that no other manufacturer does. And that offer is the deal-maker.
Fun fact: Shadow systems use the same exact nitriding process at HK. Thats why the finish holds up so well
i bought mines in 2020. 4 years later the barrel paint had faded. Called up their customer service and they told me that they used a new coating starting 2023 and basically sent me a new barrel ($250 MSRP) and said I can keep the old one.
Their customer service is ELITE.
I have a CR920 and XR920 I was thinking about the MR920L to mix and match... but I do love the XR920 for my carry gun. Now I'm looking at the MR920 elite thanks to you.
I'd go mr920p
Great video. I love my MR920 combat and XR920 Elite. Shadow systems makes great guns.
Congrats on a great pair.
Great review Sir! I have both the SS MR920 Combat and CR920P. The MR920 is the only pistol that I've shot that approaches my benchmark for accuracy and shootability which is my Colt Combat Elite. I did the same thing with my Glocks. I'm a fan of Glocks, but dang, SS knocks it out of the park! Keep up the great work!
Very good thorough review! What are your thoughts on the new CR920X and soon to be CR920XP? Thank you.......
Its very light. I love how the magwell wedges your hand perfectly on the draw. Its my summer carry. Idk why but it shoots better in heat. I have to take the magwell off. It prints to much. If your justified in a shooting. You'll get you pistol back.
I also own the SS MR920 Elite. Being a lefty, I have not found a (Left-Handed) Safariland holster that will fit. What do you recommend?
I have the same pistol, also bought it in early 2020. I agree 100% with everything you said about this pistol except…
While in general, I feel the exact same way about aftermarket mags for anything really, especially Glocks, but the PMag is NOT an aftermarket mag for the Shadow Systems, it is the “Factory Mag”, meaning the gun was tested and designed around it. Not only that, but if one were to run the 15 rd G19 mags in the pistol, while they will work fine, in the event of a type 3 malfunction, or something that jams the gun up and the mag with it, there is no way to get a purchase on the bottom of the mag (if your also running the Shadow Systems included magwell). With the longer mags as you show it is not an issue. All that being said, I have dozens of both factory Glock mags from G19’’s to the 33 rounders and also dozens of PMags in 15, 17, 22 and 27 rounders and they all seem to function fine. I may have had 1 or 2 malfunctions in the time I’ve had this gun. I shot IDPA with it a couple years and USPSA with it for as few years as well. My wife and I are pistol instructors and I use it as my range gun while teaching and when I train, it is my primary pistol as well. All that to say it’s seen more rounds than I can attempt to estimate. You sir are correct, this is a very fine pistol, for just about anything you wish to use it for. I would say however that the PMag, when used with a Shadow Systems pistol, should not be looked at as aftermarket but as the stock mag and 0 reliability is lost to using these over the Glock mags. If anything, and it’s splitting hairs because the gun runs practically flawlessly on any mags, I’d say the PMag is slightly more reliable than the Glock mag. Thats right, slightly MORE reliable than a glock mag (IN A SHADOW SYSTEMS PISTOL). In a Glock, NO, Glock mags are superior. Anyway, to anyone looking to purchase a shadow systems pistol I would say absolutely do it. The only drawback is that you will probably never buy a Glock again as shadow is making about every version of 9mm Glock that Glock makes now and then some. I know I wouldn’t dream of buying a new Glock when for $300 more I could have a shadow. That’s my thoughts. God bless
I appreciate all the good info in your comment, but please consider using paragraphs next time.
Good points and you may well be right about the Pmags, but since I already have Glock mags and all have worked perfectly, I won’t need to find out lol
They also have a a mr920 p version as well it’s done the same way as the cr920 p
Yes indeed and it’s so nice. But that came out years after I bought this, so it wasn’t a choice back then, unfortunately.
It was just brought to my attention that comments were somehow turned off. My apologies everyone, I’ve always had my settings set to comments-on.
What gen. radian ramjet and afterburner combo, did you buy to put on your mr920? I see Gen 3 and some say Gen 4, but I can't get a definitive answer. Thank you
@@pb_goon Gen 4
Staccato replaces your gun as well
@@lancerobinson9097do they? That might be a newer thing, and I haven’t heard anyone bring it up before. Good info, thanks.
Might of missed it. Who makes that mag extension early in the video at 10:20
My application is pending and I already have one bought. Cannot wait to pick it up.
The MR 920 P has the factory comp , but it is hard to find in stock these Day's !
Got the mrp 920. Sweet piece
What gen afterburner do i get for mr920 i heard its based on gen 3 then i gen 4 ?
Gen 4
Thinking about getting the mr920 foundation as my ccw.
What I got love it
Do you have a build list of the parts you’ve added to this pistol?
Super easy: Holosun 407C x2, Overwatch Precision trigger, Radiant Ramjet/Afterburner and Surefire X300U-B light. (All described in the video too).
Love my SS MR920 War Poet! I don't think there's much diff between the WP and Elite, but after months of shopping I found the WP for over a hundred less than everyone's Elite price so I jumped on it!
Correct. Except that you get the cool red trigger safety out of the box and slightly different slide cuts.
Question does the ramjet when adding still fit in a holster that you have had previously before putting in on? Also i went to the site only says Glock which one would i purchase to fit my MR920 n finally this is Jim Skelton right? 😂
I think u would need a g17 size holster. Could be wrong tho if a g19 holster is open at the bottom
Yes, this is Jim.
You’ll need a G17 length holster, yes. For the afterburner/ramjet you need to select Gen 4.

@@TRUPRROMEOawesome, thanks so much!
Premium tier glock and im here for it
I bought the MR920 War Poet and couldnt be happier. Have you thought about getting the CR920P War Poet over the Elite? That might be my next purchase as my CCW.
Absolutely. I love the War Poet aesthetic. Definitely a consideration.
Can you put a gen 4 slide on a SS??
No idea, wish I could tell you. But if you did, you’d be losing out on some big benefits of the MR920 like the match barrel and of course the optic cut.
There is video talking about why they chose the p mag’s
Yes there is. But there still is no justification IMO.
you should try tactical poontune drop in triggers, they are great!!!
I’m not a huge fan of the guy’s odd attitude I’ve seen from his videos.
@@AtoZEDCreviews what about johnny glocks?
Do these take g17 and g19 mags
Yep, they sure do.
Just letting you know in case your afterburner takes a shit on you shadow systems makes a compensator that threads onto the original barrel and it works very very very well
Yes, they do. Unfortunately I’ve tried buying it before but they can’t ship to the state I moved to. Thats why I switched to the afterburner.
@@JimSkeltonKnives Oh, because of the threaded barrel?
@@user-gn1cl9ix7pyep. Which is stupid, since I was just buying the comp which means I already had the evil threaded barrel lol
Sons of Liberty Gun Works has the same warranty to replace the firearm if you were in a justified shooting I believe that they were the first ones to do that but still both are a stand up company
How much it cost now?
The stock pistol at retail? Or are you asking what mine costs with the couple of upgrades I’ve done?
The Elite is still 989 from the retailers I checked, no price increase
The 920p come with a clean as glass comp combined with the bronze barrel
Yes it does. I wish those were available back when I bought mine, but I’ve had this a long time, I think the MR920 had been out on the market for about a month or two when I bought it.
They have a separately sold comp that screws on the end of the threaded barrel.
@@richardj3715yes, and I don’t remember now if I spoke to this in the video, but I meant to: where I live now, we have stupid restrictions, so shadow systems wasn’t allowed to ship my order to me for the comp when I tried, so they had to cancel it.
You get all those extra features over the Glock, but the main one is it’s made in the USA 🇺🇸
The overwatch trigger made a huge difference in my MR920 you must’ve gotten a dud lol
Risen Gunworks has a better undercut but of course it's an aftermarket mod
They literally come with different angle backstraps
Ok. You sound like you’re making an argument when nobody else is participating.
19:40 I definitely have a milled optic on a Glock 19 sitting lower on the slide than this pistol.
But I bet you have little baby screws like most optics use (and often shear).
@@JimSkeltonKnives Nah, cross bolt mount.
I was just about to purchase one of these this week .......that is until I read all the negative comments about this firearm on many other TH-cam videos and the poor customer service in dealing with the mentioned problems!
No thank you!
Will go with Springfield arms or S&W
Stay safe everyone!
Where didnunread these
I did a deep dive before buying mine in 2020. Most people who had issues did not oil/lube and/or did not allow for sufficient break in period. I had zero issues.
Their customer service was superb when I requested for my trigger to be smoothed out. Was good, but I felt that it could have been more refined. Fast response times, quick processing time, and the trigger they sent back was incredible-definitive wall, crisp clean break.
M&P is great too, and that’s what my department issues. But I love my MR920. I prefer the Glock platform and SS does all the custom work I’d do anyways if I bought a stock Glock.
Great video! However, I just sold mine after buying the BUL Armory Axe C Hatchet... It has almost all of the features of the MR920 (except for the optics mounting system and the night sights), although it does have a very low-cut RMR direct mount and steel (non-night) sights. It also has a MUCH BETTER grip texture and deeper double undercut trigger guard than the MR020. I also prefer the Hatchet's slide serrations to those of the MR920. Furthermore, the BUL's trigger is nothing short of phenomenal for a Glock clone! And it's just $620!
I keep waiting and trying, but I guess I’ll never own the Hatchet. Just like I’ve missed out on both versions of their comped SASII Lightweight. Never ever in stock, then each were discontinued. I am setup for restock email alerts but have never gotten one email. I guess I’ll never own a BUL.
@@JimSkeltonKnives The AXE FS HATCHET - SILVER is in stock right now. And I prefer the AXE FS HATCHET to the "C" model! Also, yes, I know that the BUL SAS II UL Comp 3.25" is hard to find. I got mine about 10 months ago, when they were consistently in stock...
Literally about to do the opposite... selling my Bul hatchet (despite the grip being onr of my favorite features) to get this gun.
Just a fancy Dagher for 500 extra. No thanks.
Dagger
@@tremaineangus6474 LMAO. Yeah…. No. I have a Dagger (I wanted to do a budget build for fun), and they’re not comparable in the slightest. But you would know that if you had watched the video and listened to the features and benefits that I spoke about.
Why buy a $500 Glock when you can buy a $1000 clone?
I’m sure it’s a nice pistol.
Upgrading a standard Glock to this level (most of these are common mods Glock owners do), prices you about $300 more expensive than the MR920 Elite and on top of that, some things on this pistol can’t even be done on the Glock (such as the optics mounting setup)
@@JimSkeltonKnives I know dude. SS is Glock perfection “perfected.” I just think it’s funny. Building a G17 now and I’m already $1200 in. Hopefully somebody will make a ported and threaded barrel for the Gen 5 soon.
