Fantastic actor, and one of the most underrated of his generation. He was great in Shameless, Fargo, and PTA’s Magnolia. The man is versatile as hell and very funny.
People don't understand how devastating this streak was. To see he could do it all along, they just weren't reason enough to keep it together. It wasn't sustainable, it was too terrible, so the kids HAD to end it.
Right. I thought he was just too far gone, so far passed “given up” and “rock bottom” that he can’t come back. Learning he actually could and consciously was choosing not too, was one of the things that made me really despise Frank. They could blame their parents all they want but that shit gets you nowhere. In the end though lip, Ian, Carl, and Liam turned out ok
its honestly just crazy to think that the one time frank felt dedicated to being a good dad; was because of a meth psychosis that ian had explained to being just a temporary medical condition that wouldnt last lol. either way william h macy did an amazing job playing a drunk while in recovery from being one. i honestly hope he lives past 100 with a smile on his face!

It was this exact same episode where Frank and Carl were purposely knocking holes in the wall where a season after this, Frank's mom Grandma Gallagher knocked a specific hole in the wall in the bathroom to find a bunch of stashed Drug Money Frank didn't know she was hiding.

The REAL reason Frank was sober, was because he tried to make some easy money with medical trials, the drug they gave him STOPPED him being able to get pissed... Talk about ruining an amazing character.... Frank did the trial for beer money and completely selfish reasons (not knowing what the drugs were for) but the Americans make him look like he CHOSE to lay off the beer, like he was giving something back... what a bunch of shite

Wouldn't be able to form such a string of coherent sentences if his life was one the line (or if he was promised a lifetime of free booze!). I should know, as I've been drinking side by side with dozens of such types over the past 20 years, most of whom are gone, gone, gone, gone! It would also seem to me that such a t.v. series is a tad unrealistic, and often too dramatic. Gotta get me on as one of the writers, would sharpen this bad boy up quite a bit (and cause a lot of controversy in the process!), as I know a thing or two about fall down Irish drunks (I am one!).
@@kyletrosper8953 I prefer the US shameless, but the UK on eight that bad, the camera quality sucked bit it was still quite realistic and I skipped to later seasons and the quality did get better
