I don't think that girls shouldn't be allowed in actual scouts, i think that girl scouts should also let boys in and just call it like guides or something. I am in Boy Scouts in Alabama. Part of the fun of it is hanging out with the boys and tooling on each other. With the addition of girls takes some of that fun away with stricter restrictions and a lot less leniency on the jokes you can make or all around fun you can have. I understand the importance of inclusion but there’s got be a better way. GIRL scouts is for GIRLS and BOY scouts are for BOYS.
Literally there was one girl in my younger siblings squad and I could tell every boy didn’t like her she was so sassy and rude to all the other guys so I don’t know why she even wanted to join

The worst part was looking at the arrows that they were shooting. When I was in "Boy Scouts" we shot real arrows that could have easily impaled us and it was awesome.
Cub scouts got to shoot real arrows at the day camp I attended. One of my most vivid memories from those weeks spent at day camp were boys getting kicked off the range for violating safety protocol.
I understand. I'm a girl and this is a terrible idea. I put myself in a boy's place and understand that I wouldn't wanna be around girls all the time! Although most of my friends were boy's and I get tired of girls, I will never go to the boy Troup because I know they need their boy time.

As a 13 year old boy, this is just ridiculous. Yes, some of these girls want to join boy scouts. However, I'm 99.99% sure that this all started because of what there parents have taught them. You know what, dammit, Imma make it to where boys can join girl scouts (not really. That statement was full of sarcasm). As Ben Shapiro said, it says in the name of the club that you must be a boy. There were talks a few years ago. some local girls scout and boy scout councils actually share the same office in preparation for the merger. But national GSUSA wants nothing to do with a BSA and killed all merger talks
Eagle Scout here. It didn't upset me too much when they let Gay scoutmasters in. But I wonder how they will handle the Order of the Arrow Eagle requirement where the Scout has to go and sleep alone at night in the woods?

1) Maybe this requirement is a bad idea for kids of ANY gender and should be done away with. 2) There is absolutely no reason why a female scout couldn't do this. If "manhood" is defined by sleeping alone in the woods that is pretty LAME. Maybe "manhood" should actually be defined by respecting and including others no matter what their gender. It's sad that my son might not one day be able to have the same experience me and my father had in scouts. While I do think that the skills in scouts are just as valuable to a girl as a boy, why not incorporate them into, idk, the GIRL scouts?

Why didn’t they make two types of Girl Scout camps? Like one of them has similar activities to the Boy Scout camps like hiking, making a tent, etc, while the other type of Girl Scout camps involves activities like playing board games, arts and craft, nail art, etc.

Just recently seen boy scouts at Walmart trying to get donations, I remember years ago I used to donate so much money to both boy scouts and girl scouts. But that was when it was boy scouts and girl scouts. Now I just say sorry kid not anymore.

In one of my last activities before I left Scouting, I led a recruiting activity aimed at both boys and girls. The activity took place outdoors around plank tables, and I made a point of wiping them off with a wet cloth. I never had a boy who didn't accept that. However, a number of girls attended this outdoor activity in their spring outfits, and were plainly unhappy at sitting their finery down on seats they regarded as rough and not clean enough for their tastes as girls. And that, of course, is FINE. But it illustrates one of many ways that girls and boys are different, and those differences should be respected. And, I don't doubt, the interests of girls WILL be respected in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. But not the interests of boys, which will be discarded.
If I were born a boy, I totally would of done the boy scouts. With the world right now I would never join simply due to the fact that when you go against the opinions of everyone else you get bashed in the head with it. So, I'll just live with the fact I'll never be a boy scout, no matter how much it pains me.

The Girl Scouts no longer do the awesome outdoor skill development and training which the Boy Scout Organization has continued in their programming. I understand why girls want to join the Boy Scouts. I attempted countless times over a 10 year period of time to connect my daughter in a Girl Scout troop and there was no response for her to join one from the local G.S. Council, therefore, I do not want to listen to the GS organization ever complain about girls not joining them! Even the high school she attended had a troop, yet no one ever returned my calls. I think girls are intelligent to become members of the Boy Scouts.
As a former Boy Scout this was one of the most stupid and annoying things that I have had to deal with. Why can’t boys and girls just do their own things for their own interests and not ruin it with the drama of having girl’s involved. Girls have the girls scouts and boys have the Boy Scouts... but now what? If a boy just wants to go and do some manly stuff he now has nowhere to go. This is my personal opinion, but most girls in the north have stopped GS because their leaders haven't done anything with their kids. The girl scout program itself is kinda similar, but it has been done incorrectly by most leaders. My great grandmother who was a girl scout leader, did a great job with her girl scouts. Now everything has changed, and some girl troops have stopped doing skills, and have done more crafts and things like that, which I think is kind of stupid, because girl scouts were supposed to help young women to provide leadership in their community, like the boy scouts have been doing for so long. So I guess most girls just want to do more survival skills and help their community out more.
I now have another reason to add to why I enjoy the girl scouts than I do the boys. Cookies, stronger and more dependable roles in cartoons, and apparently they're the ones with balls to understand that it's not sexist to have something made only for one gender.

My older brother was in boy scouts, and our dad was a troop leader. I always wanted to to be in the scouts because I was a rough and tumble girl, and the image that the girl scouts gave off at that time was not about adventure, the outdoors, or the things I was really interested in. Also, most of my friends were boys, because they were the ones that accepted me at school. I tried to join girl scouts and showed up at an interest meeting, but the girl scouts didn't think our school showed enough interest for a troop to be formed. So, I didn't become a scout at all. Even as an adult I feel sad that I didn't get to be a part of something like that. Instead, I would read my brother's boy scout books and pretend to be a scout. Because my dad was a troop leader, I got to go on a camping trip once. Still, I wish I could have had an opportunity to experience the scouts like other kids did. I feel like that lack of adventure and community in my childhood is a void that I am still trying to fill today. Boys need a space to be boys, and girls need a space to be girls - but boys and girls also need to learn to work together in these kinds of cooperative and competitive environments. I don't see a problem with the boy scouts including both as long as they offer troops with only boys and girls as well as co-ed.
When you have kids, and they show interest you can be a parent helper and maybe train to be a leader. In the UK you can train up at any age I don't know in America if you have to grow up with it
I hope you joined the Marines to make up for your loss of not being a boy scout in your early years. If not, you should really think about it. It will be your experience of being a boy scout on steroids. If this isn't for you now, it wasn't for you back then. They should come up with a co ed group and call it something else not ruin the name and idea of Boy Scouts. This is how the liberals get rid of "toxic masculinity" early in age. I go to a camp called Camp NoBeBoSco. When I am there all, I wish is to spend 1 week in the woods with 130 boys. The closest thing I have towards this is staying up till 10:30 and saluting to the big speaker with 2/3 of the camp. Thankfully no girls know about it or else the Bob Johnson Fan Club will be disbanded.
In most countries around the world Scouting contains both boys and girls and operate successfully. I see a big benefit for keeping it just boys but I also know the Girl Scouts in our area don't offer the camping adventures that the kids want. There are only so many makeovers the girls want to do. Bottom line is we are loosing a whole generation to the damages done by electronics and the more kids we can save using programs like Boy Scouts the better off we are.

I'm scout of Brazil, here we don't are separated in boys and girls. In the past, we were separated in boys and "bandeirantes", who are the girls, nowadays, we are one, boys and girls together. I believe that this way is better than before, because we learn to deal with boys and girls, with each one's way. One of the many proposals that scout behind is beign better adults, we have to learn live with men and women because we live with the both of them and not the only one.
Why wouldn't we want our daughters to take advantage of the BSA's programs? Their leadership and character building are vastly superior. When girl scouts have an equivalent to NYLT, NAYLE, or similar high adventure bases, then give me a call. I would love to be able to pin the Eagle Medal on my daughter some day. GSUSA, in my opinion, is not a very good program. National is too smug and overconfident when they say "we have what girls want", yet when you ask many girls they don't like the program. National doesn't believe they have a program problem, which is why that organization is failing. Yes, there are very good troops out there, but they are the minority. I don't want my girls to be involved in a program where I have to worry if the troop will still be around in a year.

Bharath Ulaganathan The problem is that people have tried to change it but have ultimately been unsuccessful. Most troop leaders are suburban moms that don’t know anything about survival skills or the wilderness or camping or hiking. Girl Scouts isn’t going to change because they can’t.

There were talks a few years ago. some local girls scout and boy scout councils actually share the same office in preparation for the merger. But national GSUSA wants nothing to do with a BSA and killed all merger talks
BSA tried, but GSUSA refused to make any concessions when it came to the duty to god portion of Scouting.

Eagle Scout here. It didn't upset me too much when they let Gay scoutmasters in. But I wonder how they will handle the Order of the Arrow Eagle requirement where the Scout has to go and sleep alone at night in the woods?
Maybe some things don't really need to be done. What does it prove to sleep alone at night in the woods? This Scouts not some manhood trial.

1) Maybe this requirement is a bad idea for kids of ANY gender and should be done away with.
2) There is absolutely no reason why a female scout couldn't do this.
If "manhood" is defined by sleeping alone in the woods that is pretty LAME.
Maybe "manhood" should actually be defined by respecting and including others no matter what their gender. And not being so insecure with how "manly" you are that you have to put down other people.

1:15 These 10 seconds alone lol, point proven. I was once an 8 year old boy, and 8 year old boys don't want to hang out with girls. 8 year old boys want to goof around with other boys. It's sad that my son might not one day be able to have the same experience me and my father had in scouts. While I do think that the skills in scouts are just as valuable to a girl as a boy, why not incorporate them into, idk, the GIRL scouts?

As a Cub Scout leader, I made a POINT of inviting men to be leaders, and when they were invited, they were often eager to participate.
But frankly, with girls now in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, that was my signal to get out of Scouting after 37 years as a volunteer leader. Just not worth the risk of VERY easily made accusations of abuse.

Here’s the problem. I am a young boy. And from my experience, young boys can’t be young boys around girls. It just doesn’t work. When girls are around boys are either trying to be cool or are just awkward, and that totally ruins the adventure experience. There can’t be a brotherhood with girls in it.

Why didn’t they make two types of Girl Scout camps? Like one of them has similar activities to the Boy Scout camps like hiking, making a tent, etc, while the other type of Girl Scout camps involves activities like playing board games, arts and craft, nail art, etc.

In the UK Scouts are all about the kids, and giving them the best skills for the future. They come to learn something as well as just having fun on some camping trips. That is for both girls and boys.

I’ve been in Boy Scouts since I was 7 now I’m 13 girls go to camp with us and do stuff with us. I remember my parents put me in Boy Scouts to be boy with other boys and grow to become a man. No one in my troop is happy with this.
Our brother troop is chill and fine with it.
Here is reality young man. The Democrats don't want boys to be boys. They don't want you to grow up being a man and macho. They call it "Toxic Masculinity". They want you neutered and they want you to get use to girls running the show. Tell you what. Forget the scouts. Tell your folks and parents of friends that are boys to take you camping and do do things boys do without girls around. And learn this early..............girls will ruin your life. Say that over and over and over............girls will ruin your life because they will. You will understand when you get older.

In Germany, we don't have such things as boy scouts and girl scouts but only scouts and that works perfectly, so calm down, everyone.
Just recently seen boy scouts at Walmart trying to get donations, I remember years ago I used to donate so much money to both boy scouts and girl scouts. But that was when it was boy scouts and girl scouts. Now I just say sorry kid not anymore.

In one of my last activities before I left Scouting, I led a recruiting activity aimed at both boys and girls.
The activity took place outdoors around plank tables, and I made a point of wiping them off with a wet cloth.
I never had a boy who didn't accept that.
However, a number of girls attended this outdoor activity in their spring outfits, and were plainly unhappy at sitting their finery down on seats they regarded as rough and not clean enough for their tastes as girls.
And that, of course, is FINE. But it illustrates one of many ways that girls and boys are different, and those differences should be respected.
And, I don't doubt, the interests of girls WILL be respected in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. But not the interests of boys, which will be discarded.

The Girl Scouts no longer do the awesome outdoor skill development and training which the Boy Scout Organization has continued in their programming. I understand why girls want to join the Boy Scouts. I attempted countless times over a 10 year period of time to connect my daughter in a Girl Scout troop and there was no response for her to join one from the local G.S. Council, therefore, I do not want to listen to the GS organization ever complain about girls not joining them! Even the high school she attended had a troop, yet no one ever returned my calls. I think girls are intelligent to become members of the Boy Scouts.

As a former Boy Scout this was one of the most stupid and annoying things that I have had to deal with. Why can’t boys and girls just do their own things for their own interests and not ruin it with the drama of having girl’s involved. This is my personal opinion, but most girls in the north have stopped GS because their leaders haven't done anything with their kids. The girl scout program itself is kinda similar, but it has been done incorrectly by most leaders. My great grandmother who was a girl scout leader, did a great job with her girl scouts. Now everything has changed, and some girl troops have stopped doing skills, and have done more crafts and things like that, which I think is kind of stupid, because girl scouts were supposed to help young women to provide leadership in their community, like the boy scouts have been doing for so long. So I guess most girls just want to do more survival skills and help their community out more.

My older brother was in boy scouts, and our dad was a troop leader. I always wanted to to be in the scouts because I was a rough and tumble girl, and the image that the girl scouts gave off at that time was not about adventure, the outdoors, or the things I was really interested in. Also, most of my friends were boys, because they were the ones that accepted me at school. I tried to join girl scouts and showed up at an interest meeting, but the girl scouts didn't think our school showed enough interest for a troop to be formed. So, I didn't become a scout at all. Even as an adult I feel sad that I didn't get to be a part of something like that. Instead, I would read my brother's boy scout books and pretend to be a scout. Because my dad was a troop leader, I got to go on a camping trip once. Still, I wish I could have had an opportunity to experience the scouts like other kids did. I feel like that lack of adventure and community in my childhood is a void that I am still trying to fill today.
Boys need a space to be boys, and girls need a space to be girls - but boys and girls also need to learn to work together in these kinds of cooperative and competitive environments. I don't see a problem with the boy scouts including both as long as they offer troops with only boys and girls as well as co-ed.
When you have kids, and they show interest you can be a parent helper and maybe train to be a leader. In the UK you can train up at any age I don't know in America if you have to grow up with it
I hope you joined the Marines to make up for your loss of not being a boy scout in your early years. If not, you should really think about it. It will be your experience of being a boy scout on steroids. If this isn't for you now, it wasn't for you back then. They should come up with a co ed group and call it something else not ruin the name and idea of Boy Scouts. This is how the liberals get rid of "toxic masculinity" early in age. That is the real agenda behind ruining scouting.

I go to a camp called Camp NoBeBoSco. When I am there all, I wish is to spend 1 week in the woods with 130 boys. The closest thing I have towards this is staying up till 10:30 and saluting to the big speaker with 2/3 of the camp. Thankfully no girls know about it or else the Bob Johnson Fan Club will be disbanded.

In most countries around the world Scouting contains both boys and girls and operate successfully. I see a big benefit for keeping it just boys but I also know the Girl Scouts in our area don't offer the camping adventures that the kids want. There are only so many makeovers the girls want to do. Bottom line is we are loosing a whole generation to the damages done by electronics and the more kids we can save using programs like Boy Scouts the better off we are.

I'm scout of Brazil, here we don't are separated in boys and girls. In the past, we were separated in boys and "bandeirantes", who are the girls, nowadays, we are one, boys and girls together. I believe that this way is better than before, because we learn to deal with boys and girls, with each one's way. One of the many proposals that scout behind is beign better adults, we have to learn live with men and women because we live with the both of them and not the only one.
I am also a girl in scout in Bangladesh. In your country, have the girl's any change to go to the scouts camp with boys.
Why wouldn't we want our daughters to take advantage of the BSA's programs? Their leadership and character building are vastly superior. When girl scouts have an equivalent to NYLT, NAYLE, or similar high adventure bases, then give me a call. I would love to be able to pin the Eagle Medal on my daughter some day.
GSUSA, in my opinion, is not a very good program. National is too smug and overconfident when they say "we have what girls want", yet when you ask many girls they don't like the program. National doesn't believe they have a program problem, which is why that organization is failing. Yes, there are very good troops out there, but they are the minority. I don't want my girls to be involved in a program where I have to worry if the troop will still be around in a year.

Bharath Ulaganathan The problem is that people have tried to change it but have ultimately been unsuccessful. Most troop leaders are suburban moms that don’t know anything about survival skills or the wilderness or camping or hiking. Girl Scouts isn’t going to change because they can’t.
