So, the guitarist looks just like Davey from The Promised Ring, the vocalist looks just like Tim Kinsella from Joan of Arc, the drummer looks just like Mike Kinsella from American Football, the other guitarist looks just like Victor Villareal and the bassist also looks just like Sam Zurick from Make Believe... Hmmm *thinking emoji* What a band this would have been!
@SuperPunkIL Seriously?! I thought they were from Buffalo Grove? I grew up on the Southside in Garfield Ridge, moved to the southwest suburbs in 94 I was a Graffiti writer and Skater and made friends with other Skaters but in the suburbs Skaters weren't into Hip Hop, they were all Punks. They got me into Punk and by my Jr year I sold my friend Brad (DJ Evol) my turntables to buy a guitar. He got into Drum and Bass and became a moderately successful DJ and I got into Punk. My first Cap N Jazz experience was when I saw Smoking Popes at Off the Alley and they played with Cap N Jazz. It became clear that they were a love/hate band, nobody was indifferent, Cap N Jazz were either one of the greatest bands of all time or they were just obnoxious ADHD kids spazzing out, Tim is either poetic or pretentious. I obviously loved them and went down that rabbit hole. Growing up in Chicago and the Chicago area during the 90s was great for live music. Even as recent as 11 years ago I remember drinking at Rainbo and thinking how crazy it was that my bartenders were John Haggerty and Tim Kinsella. It was the equivalent for my Dad to be ordering beers from Jeff Beck and John Lennon at his local bar.
because it's austin texas instead of the midwest or east (haha jk), but nah plenty of good ppl in the crowd jamming out. many of em probly too busy recording it to show everybody they saw capn jazz live, without realizing someone was recording them recording themselves seeing capn jazz live
They're conflicting with MGMT and Noname which sucks because I love all those artists. But I'm not gonna miss Cap'n Jazz! No sir, a reunion I wanted to happen
It’s gotta be wild playing with your teenage diy band as a grown man at a professionally produced show.

davey is looking cuter than he ever did tbh
Those kinsellas sure make some great music
Davey too
Still the most creative and original music that any of them have ever made. Crazy this was created by teenagers from Buffalo Grove
Nah kinda disagree, id say all of the kinsella projects are pretty creative in their own right

And trauma

Him and the Tim are brothers
Mike is the drummer of Cap N Jazz, he later formed American Football when Cap N Jazz broke up. He is a pretty great drummer too!
I'm 40 years old and one of the few bands of my youth that I still cant get enough of is Cap N Jazz.
Would you be surprised that Davey von Bohlen, of The Promise Ring, was also in Cap'n Jazz?
Mike also has a cool solo songwriting project called Owen

this band is not about the lyrics, it’s about E M O T I O N S
but the lyrics are still really good if you read them
This is awful.
GCF that’s the point. The worse the better
You probably don’t know these guys.
You don’t know them like we do
The more awful the sound the better it is. How do you think their cover of Take On Me is so legendary?
emo and the 2000s culture wouldn't exist without them
