Is the company partially sunk like the motor? I have a feeling this thing is gonna be in the shop just as much as on the water.
I’m a huge Evinrude fan. I think the last rendition of the G2 is still the best outboard on the water. It’s so good at so many things. I think the new Rotax S makes sense on the pontoon boats but I can’t see it selling in the fishing market. Im concerned that we haven’t seen this new motor for sale yet curious if changes are being made or just more testing being done to make sure it is good to go. Be no good for ocean 🌊 fishing and swells, engine deeply hung in the salt water will have issues I reckon. Is the lower pivot bush up to the massive overhang weight. Just looks all wrong in the design
So basically they took a etec powerhead and turned it 90 degrees and mounted it low on the transom. Redid the lower unit similar to a I/O but the actual motor is outside the boat. Being that it's a direct injection two stoke it's more compact than a 4 stroke so it can be done. I like the idea. No big monsterous powerheads hanging on the back of the boat and cleans up the back of the boat. I just hope they do a better job marketing than they did with the ETEC. Too many people think of two strokes as their grandpas plug fouling smoker. Thinking outside the box. I hope it catches on.
People just need to be around more g2s to realize what they’re missing out on, pulled my boat out of the showroom 3 years ago and just got my first 300$ service recommend, and I’ll see them in another 3 years lol, quiet, efficiency and power, can’t beat that. Now if they can only stop putting carpet in boats we’ll be on to something also shame on Alumacraft for putting a single piece of plywood or mdf in ur boats your an aluminum manufacturing company use aluminum! I'm starting to get this strong feeling that BRP is just trying to put them selves out of business atleast there marine division. They should have kept producing the traditional evinrude etec 2 stroke and if wanted to add the outboard as an option willing to bet way more people would get these boats with the evinrude etec instead of this crappy design outboard that no one wanted weight hangs off to far behind transom which will decrease planning time plus I like being able to see My outboard for visibly seeing trim and which way it is turned
When you want to introduce a new product.. the best way to do that is with a trusted brand , and bombardier nuked the evinrude brand's trust from orbit and continues to do so. Whoever's idea this was... was a complete fool. Not even because this might be a bad product, it could be bad or it could be great the jury is out.... but they destroyed their brand.
a electric motor can tilt up without lifting the transom deck and would work well on a pontoon boat as it only requires cables for power and steering, You can have batteries spread out evenly on the flat pontoon deck or have a small generator to provide energy to the electric motor and charge the batteries when not cruising.
Nothing wrong with two stroke. I don't understand why they can't just improve o what's already there. I run a 37 yr old Yamaha outboard. Light dependable pretty much maintenance free. Why can't Brp make a lightweight fuel injected 2 stroke outboard up to 150hp that works? Make it a lightweight like the two strokes of the 80s 4cyl twin turbo charge it if u want...run a exhaust with a muffler above water so it's not pushing spent oil into the lake. ITS UNDERWATER!!!!!!!LOL
Seriously, it's insulting to think of how many hard working people lost their jobs for this flaming pile of a design concept. Just close the doors and continue to make utv cash cows, and stick to that. My father is rolling over in his grave...
Leave it to BRP to come up with some super terrible ideas first stop producing the best outboard ever evinrude and start making worst idea for outboard ever wow like really bad idea
What a complete disaster of a product! This is what happens when you don’t listen to your engineers saying this is a terrible idea, fire them, than go hire a bunch of mid 20 year olds fresh from engineering school that don’t care about the marine industry to begin with. It’s ugly as sin, a 3 cylinder 150hp motor is not going to perform at all, the idea of a motor being pretty much 1/2-3/4 submerged is stupid because eventually that seal is going to rot and start leaking. The flippy deck so the motor can trim almost sounds like you want to get sued when someone is standing on the deck and you trim the motor so you can get through shallow water and they fall off and bust there head or something. I could go on and on on how terrible this is but I got better things to do.
I'm an outboard mechanic and I will tell you this will fail harder the the g2s and fichts combined...if brp really wants to re and then invent the wheel go electric...
This thing will be a load s*** just imagine an engine that's submerge underwater do you know what salt water does to engines I do I work on them everyday this is a nail in the coffin The second one seal fails this thing will be submerged and sunk if they sell these just expect class action lawsuit after lawsuit The motor is literally underwater you can't even tilt it out of the water so you can't even store any water at least not salt water maybe freshwater for barnacles will just stick to that thing left and right look like a crab trap that got lost
Who in heavens name would be so collossaly stupid to by one of these,BRP makes excellent snowmobiles and watercraft and heck atv/utvs, but c'mon putting their stamp on something like this is so totally asinine, is this merely a concept vehicle that proves a concept that little Tommy Tinker smoking Crack came up with sheeesh!!! How does the average bear service the underboard, and why in heavens name would they just not make an inboard outboard, this thing is a absolute divorce waiting to happen!!
Comical with the “underboard”! It’s obviously not going to be reliable propulsion. At least the motor can be used as a large vessel anchor when it fails!
that has to be the dumbest outboards i have ever seen. that will be a nightmare to work on the powerhead. It will also rust apart due to water intrusion, no one will waste money on that piece of trash!!!

Try that on the Yukon River or any silt laden river it will look like someone took a sandblaster to it,gosh I would hate to hit an underwater log with that thing entire boat and motor would be in Davy Jones locker room what is going to happen if the battery goes dead as it inevitably will in TimBuk 2, E.T. phone home I cant start my Underboard cause well..... ITS UNDERWATER!!!!!!!LOL
Sorry but this is a complete fail. I hope it is cheap to build. Submerging the engine is dumb. The engineers should all be fired.
Sorry but……nope
What a disaster!
Awesome👍 happy owner of a brand new Competitor FSX 175. LOVE my Alumacraft 👌👍
Should of waited for the updated 23’, no?
@@andytaylor2321 no I'm happy with mine and I'm sure new ones alot more and never new they had these coming in 23. Also wanted mine asap lol
Shoulda got a Lund
Seriously, it's insulting to think of how many hard working people lost their jobs for this flaming pile of a design concept. Just close the doors and continue to make utv cash cows, and stick to that. My father is rolling over in his grave...
Leave it to BRP to come up with some super terrible ideas first stop producing the best outboard ever evinrude and start making worst idea for outboard ever wow like really bad idea
better keep that engine away from saltwater
And Evinrude is gone? This thing is crap
The boat is awesome. The motor is gonna be a joke. Ficht 2.0
Wow haha this won’t last
What a joke.
I'm an outboard mechanic and I will tell you this will fail harder the the g2s and fichts combined...if brp really wants to re and then invent the wheel go electric...
The last rendition of the G2 is a fantastic motor that never should have been discontinued
Umm yuck…. I am so glad I have a 2018 pre BRP Alumacraft… possibly the worst idea in history made real… sigh…
proven results its called Mercruiser...LOL
ugliest thing i ever seen !
😂😂😂 SS Minnow
15 days in a saltwater lagoon and it will be scrap!
A woop load of complaining will be a cumin. !
NO NOPE NEVER WILL NOT EVER OWN ANYTHING THAT FUCKED UP
This thing will be a load s*** just imagine an engine that's submerge underwater do you know what salt water does to engines I do I work on them everyday this is a nail in the coffin The second one seal fails this thing will be submerged and sunk if they sell these just expect class action lawsuit after lawsuit The motor is literally underwater you can't even tilt it out of the water so you can't even store any water at least not salt water maybe freshwater for barnacles will just stick to that thing left and right look like a crab trap that got lost
Nope
Who in heavens name would be so collossaly stupid to by one of these,BRP makes excellent snowmobiles and watercraft and heck atv/utvs, but c'mon putting their stamp on something like this is so totally asinine, is this merely a concept vehicle that proves a concept that little Tommy Tinker smoking Crack came up with sheeesh!!! How does the average bear service the underboard, and why in heavens name would they just not make an inboard outboard, this thing is a absolute divorce waiting to happen!!
🤦♂️fail in the making.
