Thanks for the video, it was helpful in how to do a teardown, and where the tray closed switch is since my drive isn't detecting the disk (I have a new laser coming, I'll deal with the tray closed switch then). Regardless, it's not a huge deal as it has been modded and I can FTP into the Xbox. Thanks again for the video. :)
Thanks for this tutorial. I got a replacement drive like this and I ain't know how to do some mantainance in this type of dvd drive because like the LG hitachi this philips are pretty rare this ain't like the others with the pickup in black color
I haven't updated the description, but I highly advise you to use silicone grease instead of lithium grease I'm using on those videos. Took me a while to realize (a lot considering that I uploaded them more than a year ago) that lithium grease is more for metalic surfaces rather than plastic ones.
Great video, when you get the time would you let us know what lubricate you used for the gears and the hook/ bent tools you used for a disassembly? Thanks.
Sorry for the 2 months waiting reply. The hooks are usually found at harbor freight, and the grease I used was lithium grease. Optionally, you can use any silicone based grease.
Thank you so much for this video, I never thought about lubricating the very underside of the tray, this fixed my issue! Thank you!!
