    I have built only one acoustic guitar but have started a second. Your work has helped me to change somethings I was doing. I thank you for that.
    I do have a question about what the finish was that you were rubbing on. I don’t have spray equipment so I did a French Polish which I learned to do many years ago. If you don’t mind what was the finish , or type of finish, you were rubbing on?

      Im applying a layer of shellac finish to the inside of the guitar, this does two things, firstly it helps add a moisture barrier to the raw wood inside which should help prevent any humidity changes from affecting the guitar, and secondly it makes it look nice 😉

    My compliments for this piece of Art. Very nice video. Still a question: Did you put the Osmo oil directly on the bare wood? I am asking because i intend to use this product on a classical guitar soundboard. Maybe some advice from your side...? Greetings Wil

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Yes the oil was applied directly to the wood. I have tried other methods before such as using an epoxy grain filler (I go through that process in the full finish tutorial video on my page.) Depending on the level of build you want, anywhere from 8 to 12 coats will build a sufficient and easy to apply finish for a top. Just apply and wipe off the excess, then repeat!

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm guessing you mean when assembling the body? For me it's just the beat use of space in my shop, so instead of having a body and mold covered in dozens of heavy clamps, it can just be left in the go bar deck out of the way, and my clamps are available for another job! With enough sticks you can get more than enough pressure to close the box properly while glueing

    When chiseling the wood bracing that goes on the interior, is the shape you are making them what determines how it sounds?

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a few details to take into consideration, the shape has a role, as you can control what portions of the strut are stiffer or more flexible. The weight is another key characteristic, which is why the braces are carved with a thin spine and flat edges, to remove as much weight as possible while maintaining the strength of the strut. If you can get everything light and stiff, then you're on your way to a winner!

    Maestro, ¿en función de qué razones se escoje el diseño del internal bracing?

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Y en cuanto al varetaje, tiene dos propósitos: hacer la caja armónica más simétrica permite una respuesta más uniforme de las cuerdas graves o agudas sin favorecer a unas u otras, y su posición detrás del puente ayudaría a evitar que la guitarra se hundiera con el tiempo. La idea era una mezcla del refuerzo x estándar y el refuerzo estilo guitarra clásica.
      Translated with google, so sorry if it doesn't make sence!

    How come you put the neck on before the frets? Otherwise perfect! Subbed!

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once the neck is glued on, its easier to tell what all the angles and measurements are for the bridge height etc. And then with the guitar mounted in the neck support jig, I can keep everything stable while doing the fingerboard rsdiusing and fret work. Fretting the neck before attaching may be easier, but you'd need to be more careful with how the fingerboard fits over the soundboard (will it dip or raise) depending on the profile of the top and the neck angle.

      The inside tailblock was made of Indian rosewood, the idea was to help add a little more weight to the end of the instrument to balance the Indian rosewood neck. I've also added brass rods to the tailblock in other builds to further do this

    How much and what time they take

  • @LeoWal01
    @LeoWal01 ปีที่แล้ว

    High craftsmanship resulted in a beautiful guitar. Unfortunately didn't hear it's full sound in the video.
    But why did you choose for a bridge like this? It's quite 'bulky' (might be necessary for it's strength), but a 'normal' bridge and the strings running through the top, is 'slimmer' which would suite the overall looks to my opinion better...
    On the other hand, the bridge is made with great craftsmanship, so you earn credits for that!

    • @JKM_Guitars
      @JKM_Guitars  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I kept this video to just be the construction, I've links in the description to some demos of it.
      As for the bridge, I prefer the string through design over the pinned bridges, so it does need to be a little larger to proved enough supports to the ball ends, but its much easier to change strings than a pinned bridge (I also like seeing the coloured ball ends as well!)

      @@JKM_Guitars: Well, thank you for your answers. I don't change the strings on my guitar to often, nor do I look at the back side of the bridge so much 😉. Maybe that's the reason I reacted in the first place. Furthermore I don't know how it effects the tone of the guitar, but I assumed you do.
      Anyway, it is a matter of taste and you made a beautiful guitar (and a nice video too!).
