Thanks for another great video! I know this is an older video, but you might consider a rosebud torch head for your melting. That is what we used in class. I have a bachelors degree in advanced metalsmithing from SIU.
I always allow a 1% "loss" from crystal going to a bar. I think this could be the sulphide boiling off or perhaps there is moisture trapped within the crystal structure... Also small bars is the way as you only ever get a percentage of the perfect with no outgassing.
You could do with a die like you have for sreettips thats a die set holder that you make up the biggest portion of the info like you stamp that would speed up the part for the stamping of the bulk and you then add in the weight 999 Fine troy oz. so all you need to add a stamp for Gold and Silver.

Awesome pours there Sir Sreetips! I love pouring bars! So glad to see you using the brazing tip. As a welder of many many years, I like seeing the right equipment being used the way it is intended. Cutting torch is used for cutting. In which case it uses more gas and oxygen. The brazing tip is used to melt material, using less gas and oxygen. Hence, more cost effective. Did you like the performance of the brazing tip as opposed to the cutting tip? Also, I have found that instead of having the mapp heating directly above the cavity and the pour, I adjust the tip to where it is heating just the graphite mold. I don't get the hazing on the bar from the mapp hitting it directly. Bars turned out beautiful. Your stamping is impeccable! Thank you for all you do!

Always fun to watch silver being poured. Good rule of thumb since gold is around twice the atomic weight of silver you can typically make twice as heavy of a bar with the same size mold. Inversely if you have a mold that you know you can make a 10oz gold bar in, then you should probably be able to make a 5oz silver bar in the same mold.

It’s borax glass that comes over with the pour. It dissolves quickly and easily with hot 5% sulfuric acid solution.
@@sreetips Wouldn't the borax glass be soluble in hot water - although slowly?
I love seeing the silver getting processed in mass, thank you!
En massé, bro
Maybe he's catholic?
13:30 is it possible to turn torch off on bar tray before poor so that Mark doesn't happen on top of bar?
Edit: nm. Weak sulfuric acid solution did great job dissolving skin
No, the torch prevents a frost from forming on the bar as it freezes
@@sreetips ahhh. Got ya. Ok, thanks for the feedback Sreetips! You are the best my friend, I love your content.
You could also do amazing Voiceover work brother!!! I feel like you'd be great at narration of a true crime documentary 🤣. Take care
Thank you!
Thank you for this very detailed look into converting old silver to new! 👍🏼
Silver has been pretty steadily valued for a good amount of time…while I do agree it could be worth more, $400+ for a 5 Troy ounce bar is astronomical…the last batch of 5 Troy ounce bars i purchased were “Monarch Precious Metal” bars for around $205.
$400 plus will seem cheap. Selling silver, if you don’t need paper to pay bills, is a bad idea.
@@sreetips it might one day seem cheap I agree….unfortunately that day isn’t today, or any day soon unfortunately. I’ve traded in precious medals and various other commodities for many years. Buying at double the market price even if just for insurance isn’t a good idea. That being said the $20k in silver I bought in 2018 is worth close to double now….but it’s going to be a long wait for another double up on that. My fastest moving natural resource in my portfolio is lithium. With the world changing to electric vehicles etc, the need for lithium for batteries is skyrocketing
Great job on that melt and the stamping spot on
Stop using graphite molds for your pours! Use steel molds and spray them with a little WD-40 before you pour each bar. lud you don't have to wait for them to cool off, you can just dunk them in a pot of water and solve the problem
Sree. What is the difference between melting and smelting?
Smelting is a term used to describe rendering metals from ore. Melting is what I did in the video
Fantastic Video! Sir. Thank you for showing us. The only thing else I would've wanted to see is, well you know that piece of equipment that you put to the bar and it tells you what kinds & how much of every metals found in the bar. 😁.......GOD BLESS
XRF, cost as much as a car. Too rich for me. I’ve sent samples off to have them analyzed - cones three nines every time.
Outstanding..is there a list of all needed equipment that I can obtain to start doing this enjoyable project..? thank you..
I learned on the goldrefiningforum.com
Seems like the discoloration is occurring exactly where the torch is blowing in the mold cavity.
This was the Science teacher I needed back in school.
So fascinating! i can watch these all day thanks.
Sreetips, where do you get those awesome graphite molds?
Ebay
Have you ever worked with an out of date solar paste? Thanks
No
