  • Join Jeff Williams from ‪@Askjeffwilliams‬ and Jason from ‪@mbmmllc‬ as they venture deep underground into an abandoned gold mine in search of high-grade quartz veins. Watch as they extract gold ore from the veins and see Jason use his crushing, grinding, and smelting equipment to turn the raw material into beautiful gold and silver buttons.
    This exciting video showcases the skills and experience of these two seasoned gold miners as they explore the history and mystery of underground mining. Learn about the geology of gold deposits and witness the hard work and dedication required to extract and refine this precious metal.

    that was so much fun having you out at our mine Jason , can't wait to do it again and so many Specimens coming out of it too ...it will give you a bad case of Gold fever huh..... now we just need a skip and electric hoist to get more material out. Love the experiments and we just mined out a bunch more that we are giving away. Next time we will head up your way and check out your mine ...so you know what we are gonna say huh ....So C'mon...let's Go !!!!

      Gold fever the first time I climbed in a shaft, hooked, then finding gold was over the top. When my teacher found a 18oz piece put my mission over the top. The Groucho #1 nugget, Oscar found that nugget deep in the Italian bar, Columbia ca. The boulders he taught me how to move are larger than cars . Now he's gone and I've yet to find anyone willing to take the hike...

    Jason, if the yellow material that is not gold contains tungsten, it is very dense and will not melt at the temperatures you can achieve with your furnace. The tungsten would probably settle into the bottom of the cone mold and not cupel away. That would skew your yield calculations. Need to have a metals lab check the button with a spectrometer and see what else is in there.

    The H202 in the container at 1:21:27 is reacting with silver in the material. Some engines use H202 as propellants and react it with silver as a catalyst to produce power

    • @CHNO-ev4rg
      @CHNO-ev4rg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To add a bit to this, it could be catalyzed by silver, but it could also be a ton of other things, h2o2 really doesn't want to stay together and sometimes it is easier to ask what doesn't catalyze its decomposition.

    Nice work! love the calculations and chemistry! Just so you know, you don't want any acids that can attack silica itself like sulfuric . It will dissolve the bond between the quartz and gold and the gold will fall out of the sample ruining the display piece. Just focus on the iron staining. HCL is most likely the best? I wonder how evaporust would do, probably just turn the red, to black?

    good stuff! but I think that your secondary processing of the lead/gold/silver button could be better served by using the parks process to part the silver and the gold. That way you save the lead cost. Then cupel the zinc out leaving the gold and silver. It would be fun to watch that!

    Hi Jason, WOW! You really out-did yourself this time! Marathon video! 10 thumbs up! Jeff (or someone) needs to find out what the other yellow/orange heavy metal is - maybe XRF a specimen or send it to a lab. You had mentioned Wulfenite - I'm not aware of any in Nevada. I've mined Wulfenite in Arizona. Have to figure it out! That info will be a big help when it comes to smelting this ore again. You're an excellent instructor! Lots of fun to watch! Stay safe!! Jim
