Polish, living in New Zealand here. The tears started welling up as soon as the pipes started. And then the ending with the pipe solo fading into the distance as the coffin was lowered into the crypt. What a fitting send-off for a grand and noble Queen and the old world that she represented.
Eastern European communities are quite significant in the UK and they themselves took it as a sign of something extremely significant, most elders didn't know how to understand it(as though the world ended) but their children were very saddened and took it to heart almost being upset by their parents response. Similarly Ukrainian refugees in the UK were shown on TV being absolutely shocked and could speak of the Queen as if they've known of her their whole life. What a time to live in!-

I loved her more when she reached her 70th jubilee. For the 70th anniversary of King George IV’s death; my grandmother was quite stunned by my fashion and my funeral dress was appropriate for the occasion. Hopefully the 72nd anniversary of his death will be a lot calmer than before because I celebrated the 71st anniversary in hospital which was absolutely horrible.
August 2023, and I'm still saddened, but at the same time proud to be British. I doubt that there is another country that could have achieved this incredible spectacle without it it becoming a Ruritanian operetta. Well done to the thousands of people involved. You did the country proud.
This is how our military pay our final respects to our Commander in Chief. As an ex squaddie I know how they would have practiced this many times and spent hours and hours on their uniform and boots. Thats as it should be, being chosen is a great honour. That said, this was truly beautiful to watch. The pipes, the drums, beautiful.
It will be really emotional as Wales does this for my funeral and crowds watching Woody.EXE on as he walks behind my coffin in decades time. I know my 2009 Woody will be there for him and I hope my mother will get to see my send off by 1940. It’ll be a day Wales will never forget
As someone who has served and taken part in parades, the sailors who formed up, and stepped off together, and towed a guncarriage weighting TONS off at a standing start, I would have been proud to have been there.
For me as an American it was sad to see hear of her passing. She has always been there. Our country changes heads of state every 4 or 8 years. The Queen was someone who was a figure that was there always since I was born. She brought stability and comfort. She will certainly never be forgotten.
I was a piper in the Scots Guards and this tune was played for the Queen Mother. Same up beat tempo to keep the tune in check and the procession moving. The sovereigns piper Paul Burns is a good friend of mine and played on many tattoos including Edinburgh and worldwide. A very poingnant event of sadness and pride for all.
I am watching this 2 months after Her Majestys passing. It moves me very much after finding out Britain and Scotland are where my ancestors came from. Beautiful procession for the Queen. Proud of my homeland!!! I am from the USA!!
I still miss her Majesty. I am watching this again for about the 20th time still with tears in my eyes. I do not live in UK but I am so proud to be British. This was the very best of Britain. Long live the Monarchy.❤
i still weep at her loss. these were special moments. what a beautiful piece of music. God bless our beloved Elizabeth. May her and her father's example of service to community resonate in the ages. God save the King ! 😔
Exactly the same here.... This, by far was the most moving... I'm not a Royalist but this definitely made me bawl like a baby. I literally had tears running down my face...
Well, it’s so mournful and then the Big Ben bell tolling in the background adds to it. I get tearful every time I watch this. Love the snare drums, too. It was the perfect thing to play for the procession between Westminster Hall and Westminster Abbey. I don’t think it was played at any other time.
Watching this again almost a year on and it is just as moving as it was that day. There truly is nothing as somber and evocative as those pipes and drums. Still miss the Queen.
The way those sailors heads and shoulders almost swayed in rytham with the music , there was almost a wave like quality to it... and the queen literally being on top of that wave gave the impression of a sailing ship being carried by the waves. Very dignified
Just like me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE our Wales reigning monarch marched downstairs to every minute of Woody.EXE playing the pipes in respect to Her Majesty the Queen and my 2009 Woody was crying immediately bless him. Woody.EXE also did the best tribute ever and I was honestly not expecting him to play the bagpipes as me, my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy walked downstairs behind him. Mummy cried immediately as I did
I was one of the 200 everyday people who received an MBE in the Queen's Jubilee Birthday Honours and was invited to attend the State Funeral. I will never forget sitting in silence in Westminster Abbey with royalty, heads of state, and everyday people listening to the sound of the bagpipes getting closer and closer to the Abbey.

My mother passed away at the end of November 2019, around the same age as the Queen. Somehow it re-ignited and still does, my grief. Not just the passing of a marvellous Queen, but the end of an era, truly.

The most emotional part of her Majesty's funeral for me. Pure brawn to pull the carriage, no need for animals or machinery and you could see the strain both physical and emotional on the ratings faces. The music paired with the plain sailors uniforms and their immaculate slow march timing, no finery, is something I will never forget. It summed up how everyone felt, and the expression of sorrow on King's Charles's face show just how human the royal family are. Thanks for posting this fitting tribute.
I so agree. This is something the UK does so well. The Armed Forces and the Police and all the other services were absolutely amazing. So proud of our country as we said farewell to an amazing Queen. God bless her, may she rest in peace and rise in glory ❤🙏
Horses were used to pull Queen Victoria's coffin, however they started misbehaving so junior sailors were called in. It has become the tradition ever since
Bagpipers in a funeral feels so hauntingly scary for me, and this is one of the reasons why. And also one of the most beautiful. RIP HM Queen Elizabeth II, Canada is glad to have you for 70 years.
Oh dear, am in floods of tears again. I watched all the proceedings on tv, from the "scrambling* of her children to Balmoral to be with her until the final journey to Windsor Castle. So so moving. I was eight when her father passed away so she has always been. " my Queen ".. And I'm "old school" - if the national anthem is played I always stand. E❤
Flat out, the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Absolutely soul stirring. Nothing like the bagpipes with those drums. A fitting tribute. Rest well, eternally in peace, HM Queen Elizabeth ll 🇬🇧
I walked this exact route 3 weeks ago… The bass drum setting the pace The rap and precision of the snares creating the rolling rhythm Those pipes… over 100 of them, the wall of sound echoing through silent streets This will stay with me for a very long time Awesome and spectacular set against stoic, solemn sadness and respect
She was a Queen for decades. She cared about people and that is what makes her so special. She loved people. A full Military procession is what she wanted, a goodbye to someone that was so much respected and loved all over the World and with all the Honour and love she was carried to her resting place..
Breathtaking, absolutely in tears, watching the navy pull the gun carriage, when its exactly 9 years since i layed my dad to his final rest, he was bearer party at the queen's dads funeral, on the gun carriage .
This will always be the defining moment of the days events for me. I've lost count of the times I've watch it and I tear up nearly every time. It made me think about the fact that nations are built on commonality, a shared history, a shared sense of identify and shared destiny (whatever that might bring) and so, if this means nothing to someone living here. I might respectfully suggest they look for somewhere else to live, for they do not belong here!
I couldn't have put it better myself Mark.. I've watched this countless times and somehow I always shed tears... I'm utterly proud of EVERYONE who took part..... After, just over a week of the announcement of Her Majesty's death, I can't believe that she has now gone.....
Closing my eyes, while listening to the bagpipes, i imagine seeing Elizabeth hiking through the Scottish Highlands and i think, at least to my mere mortal eyes, this is how she wants to go as she ascends to heaven. Gosh, a year later and these songs bring tears to these eyes. I was born in Canada when she was just barely a decade into her reign as queen. God bless you Elizabeth.
Closing in on one year since we said farewell to Her Majesty. The Queen holds quite a special place in the hearts of people everywhere in the world, not only here in the UK. So from this small Land of Hope and Glory, crossing the many Azure Mains to wherever you may be, thank you for remembering our much loved Queen. Best wishes! 💙❤
It’s almost one year since me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE did our procession tribute at home with 9 million mourners lining the route of my home St Julian’s just to watch all 5 of us live. I’ve never seen anything like it
Me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE were already doing our procession at the time this was going on, I didn’t expect Woody.EXE to be playing the bagpipes either but he did just as good as London. Me and Mummy had the honour of being by Woody.EXE, then my 2009 Woody was with my sister for the first time in years. Exactly what Elizabeth would have wanted
Upon viewing this video after having witnessed the cremonies "live" on TV, I am reminded once again how wonderfully the British armed forces and associated units performed their ceremonial duties. As a retired U.S. Naval officer, however, I must point out how magnificently the British Navy ratings appeared, and how superbly those ratings performed their duty in this sad procession on behalf of Queen and country. Her Majesty, the beloved Queen . . . requiescat in pace.

There is so much culture and history in this and it is truly rare in the modern world that something like this continues to exist which is part of what makes it so awesome
Of all the processions, this was my favorite. I went back to re-watch it on BBC's channel, but they took it down. I'm glad I found it here. The bagpipes and drums are so haunting and beautiful.
@@alansmith6100 I'm American, and was wondering if they took it down because they were going to try and sell it? The State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II - The Box Set. Do they do stuff like that?
This is without doubt my favourite bit of the funeral, utterly flawless, breathtaking and mesmerising, I just keep coming back to it ! So well done to all who took part in this momentous occasion, rest in peace my Queen.
Pride, dignity, tradition, awareness that we all are just temporarily here. I am Croatian and after watching The Crown I changed my mind about her majesty, her life was a big burden, responsibility and sacrifice. Rest in peace.
I am born and bred ENGLISH; Queen Elizabeth II was my sovereign Queen, all I ever knew; For those who loved her It was a very hard time; For us British we saw the end of THE ELIZABETHAN AGE; And when CHARLES III was crowned, it was the start of THE CAROLEAN AGE; From the moment Elizabeth's Father, George VI died, she made a vow to GOD that she would reign the country and serve her people and she did to the very end; This among anything sets the UK apart from all other country's; And we know how to give a good send off;
My loyalty to the King of Canada 🇨🇦 is unswerving but I am profoundly saddened by the passing of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth and will always keep her in my prayers.
Marvellous and thank you. For me it was one of the spectacular moments of the funeral service. The thought of HM The Queen - gentle, lately frail - borne on a gun carriage by the might of the Royal Navy to the stirring, sound of bagpipes and the razor-sharp attack drums was very moving. Glad also to have the melody identified - many suggestions have been made on TH-cam videos but this is it! The pipers' melody is Chì mi na mòrbheanna (commonly known in English as "The Mist Covered Mountains of Home"), a Scottish song that was written in 1856 by Highlander John Cameron (Iain Camshroin), a native of Ballachulish. The song is a longing for home.
They play two tunes, the first indeed Mist Covered Mountains. And the second is "Mull of the Mountains" (Muile Nam Mór Bheann). They play both over and over
I am not British, but I am certainly grateful for the British people and the British institutions they created, they have shed light on so many locations that lived in the shadows…God Save the Queen and her British Empire.
The British Empire was not perfect by any means but remains, to my knowledge, the only Empire where it left its Colonies on reasonably good terms with them, in fact sufficiently good that they (almost) all joined the Commonwealth and have remained members ever since Independence, with 4 new African Nations (never part of the British Empire) asking to join, with others there rumoured to be wanting to join. It's a funny old World???

Thank you and God bless from Edinburgh Scotland.
Thank you for your kind words
Nothing on this earth to equal the pipes and drums , such a fitting tribute to the great Queen of Scots.
Polish, living in New Zealand here. The tears started welling up as soon as the pipes started.
And then the ending with the pipe solo fading into the distance as the coffin was lowered into the crypt.
What a fitting send-off for a grand and noble Queen and the old world that she represented.
You me and a nation
Eastern European communities are quite significant in the UK and they themselves took it as a sign of something extremely significant, most elders didn't know how to understand it(as though the world ended) but their children were very saddened and took it to heart almost being upset by their parents response. Similarly Ukrainian refugees in the UK were shown on TV being absolutely shocked and could speak of the Queen as if they've known of her their whole life. What a time to live in!-
@@bmc9504 there is a 24 hour Turkish market near me in London.
It has never been closed (as far as I know), in 30 years.
The day of the Queen's funeral was the only time I've ever known it to have been closed. Even today, on Christmas morning, it's open.
Shows how much she was respected.
that guard playing the pipes is a tradition called the "lone piper "
Thank you
As an American, I can truly say this queen will be so missed. She was very special and truly left her legacy for the world to memorialize. Rest in peace with your husband Prince Phillip. Forever Together.
As a true Irishman, this still gets me every-time i watch this - the moment, the Mist Covered Mountains, the history, The Lady - the loss, 😞
Woody.EXE did the most moving tribute no one could’ve done but him. It made me, my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy cry. We were all watched by the entire Wales nation and I’ll never forget it
Bless you andrew as I'm irish too a murphy am I but I have respect and the pipes stir something deep in my soul
@The Drunken Irish man did you celebrate when your country voted to murder its unborn dead too? That's when your country died.
@The Drunken Irish man And British rule in Scotland.
North Brits out.
You are not an Irishman, you do not stand against the atrocities that have been forced against millions of people around the world. Do you really think it is a terrible loss when Trevilian watched millions die in the famine.
Reading all the lovely comments, I am so grateful that all around the world people loved her Majesty.
This was such an emotional day for us in the UK but our armed forces stood tall, looked sharp and did our Queen and country so proud.
We had a small contingent front and centre. But we of the RAN would have stood shoulder for OUR Queen
It will be really emotional as Wales does this for my funeral and crowds watching Woody.EXE on as he walks behind my coffin in decades time. I know my 2009 Woody will be there for him and I hope my mother will get to see my send off by 1940. It’ll be a day Wales will never forget
Amen...
@@nicolelawless9942 you not locked up in a straight jacket yet?
Not emotional day for only the UK. I would be confident saying that most of the world was and still is mourning .
As someone who has served and taken part in parades, the sailors who formed up, and stepped off together, and towed a guncarriage weighting TONS off at a standing start, I would have been proud to have been there.
See the six sailors infront of the carriages. The ones that are head and shoulders taller than the rest. They are carrying the carriage shafts.
For me as an American it was sad to see hear of her passing. She has always been there. Our country changes heads of state every 4 or 8 years. The Queen was someone who was a figure that was there always since I was born. She brought stability and comfort. She will certainly never be forgotten.
Sovereign head of state
Thank you
I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 and I cried when watching this. She will always be missed, but never forgotten. She was Queen to so many.
What's the song called here please
Pipers are fantastic

I am no Royalist but this moved me to tears...
I was just going to write exactly same thing.
Same here. It was this part of the day that effected me the most.
I don’t think it was played at any other time.
tears
Watching this again almost a year on and it is just as moving as it was that day. There truly is nothing as somber and evocative as those pipes and drums. Still miss the Queen.
The way those sailors heads and shoulders almost swayed in rytham with the music , there was almost a wave like quality to it... and the queen literally being on top of that wave gave the impression of a sailing ship being carried by the waves. Very dignified
Beautifully put ❤
You have described it so poetically.❤

Wow. They carried her peacefully to her eternal rest. She earned this. Thank you, Queen Elizabeth.
Just like me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE our Wales reigning monarch marched downstairs to every minute of Woody.EXE playing the pipes in respect to Her Majesty the Queen and my 2009 Woody was crying immediately bless him.
Absolute perfection, yes.

I had a bagpiper for my mother's funeral and will have for my German Husband and myself when we go to God.
I have watched this many times. I still tear up. I loved my Queen.
And she didn’t give a damn about you. Get off your knees.
This...... just an unbelievable sight and sound to behold.

Flat out, the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Absolutely soul stirring. Nothing like the bagpipes with those drums. A fitting tribute.
Rest well, eternally in peace, HM Queen Elizabeth ll 🇬🇧
Listen to old Celtic fiddle, much of this is born of that
I walked this exact route 3 weeks ago…
The bass drum setting the pace
The rap and precision of the snares creating the rolling rhythm
Those pipes… over 100 of them, the wall of sound echoing through silent streets
This will stay with me for a very long time
Awesome and spectacular set against stoic, solemn sadness and respect
You've summed it up beautifully
Eloquently put - well said

RIP your majesty....and thank you.

Wow, Terri. God bless your father for his service. I'm sure this procession brought back so many memories.

Our late Queen did the nation proud with her length of service and the nation returned the compliment by giving her the send off she fully deserved.
