Bambi I love watching your guys's videos, and I don't think you have to be insecure about what people think of you, because what you see is what you get! You are genuine.
Great adventure, inspiring pilots to go beyond. Difficult to understand the amount of handling costs, probably same problem in most countries. "A road takes you to a place but a runway takes you to everywhere" :)
You two are the living example of how life works. You put your intentions [dreams] into the field of infinite potential [the field of creation] and then listen to what creation provides [manifests]. Making connections [networking] is part of that. Yes, it can be hard work, but it's not work as you Love doing it. Following your intuition is the tool to use, and being in the here and now moment also. We humans are amazing creatures, only limited by our own beliefs. These beliefs are influenced by others, of course. Your Soul knows what is true for you. Follow your ❤️. Thanks for sharing this dream with us. Awesome content. With ❤️ from Holland. Wes.
Did my PPL in George SA (Eastern Cape) in 1998 at a school called "Cape Flying Services". Went there with my young self, my young first wife and two little boys. Once I got my PPL we flew up to Namibia and just all over the place. Went back to Denmark and did 23 years of officework, one more wife and three more kids. I still fly from Roskilde in Denmark. I allways wonder what my life would have been like if we had stayed in SA and I had kept flying. My dream was to do what Bambi wants to do (Though not helis. Yikes) But hey, its not all bad - love my five kids and my brand new DA 40 NG should be delivered this summer. GO for it Bambi! You are so wonderfully full of life. The young man is nice too.
19:48 you should check out Egmond Vintage Wings at Hoogeveen airport. They have the only flying Fokker D.21 in the world. Next to other historic aircraft.
Always have enjoyed your adventures and flying! I enjoyed the Q&As I haven't been able to fly for 38 years so your aviation and adventures are nice to watch. Be safe!
This is truly a beautiful video of you Bambi with your boyfriend flying over Sudan and Egypt. Thank you for informing about safe situation in Sudan. Bambi, I like your Q & A with your partner and I would like to learn about aviation and flight driving Bambi someday. Thank you for your kindness
Love your videos and am always a little bit sad when each one comes to the end. Then, I have to wait for the next one. Thanks for sharing these adventures. I hope there are many more to come!
I totally agree with you, I’m not an airline guy either. I totally get you, flew the c208 in South Africa and I want to go back.. but it’s difficult to find a job.. or hard to find. Please reach out if you find any humanitarian pilot jobs for the caravan in Africa:)
Great video. You two are a dynamic duo. Thank you for sharing & young teens interested in flying cannot help but be inspired by your efforts. Love how you both focus on… getting on with it and work through the frustrations encountered. Continued success. Looking forward to seeing more of your TH-cam adventures. Stay safe.
Thank you both from the bottom of my heart ❣for being so authentic 💯and being a great inspiration💫. Thanks for the honest answers and the motivation. Keep up the good work showing us the wide world 🌍of aviation ✈ and what's possible. As always, happy landings!🛬
I liked your answer about not wanting to be an airline pilot. I dreamed of being an airline pilot but in my early 20s realised I didn’t want to spend my life in a hotel and doing legs back and forth. Now I’m planning to do my PPL this year and have fun flying small planes :)
Omg thank you so much for this update. As a trainee pilot listening to your views on why you do this and your views on being an airline pilot were so comforting. You guys are super professional and such an inspiration. I loved this update. ❤
Well done guys, these videos are just so cool. Thank you for answering the questions many of us have been asking, particularly regarding the costs involved. The format of the series is really excellent, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who really looks forward to the next episode every time. Come and fly with us in France sometime, you’ll always be welcome. My own channel is very very different from yours, and only a modest little attempt, but I’m learning so much from what you are doing.
Just wanted to say, you have quality content and all of us that helped to fund you are not just helping you out, but we are getting something awesome out of it too! I wish I started flying when I was younger.....I almost started in 2010. I would have had a bunch of neat adventures before we had kids. A decade later (2020) I decided to get my PPL and with the little ones we can't do a lot of travel anymore. So It's fun watching you all and other content creators have these trips that I'm probably going to have to wait another decade to start having!
I soloed on my 15th Birthday in a Schweitzer 222 I got my 1st solo check on my 8th flight and was informed I'd have to wait till I was 15 to solo I'm 73 and just got my medical release from my Dr.
15:12: I've seen the same thing working on the ramp. I hated working for the airlines as all I really did was load and unload baggage. I got a better paying job at a part 135 charter and will likely be walking away with both an A&P rating and enough money to pay for my PPL, IR, and CPL.
"Networking is so important." This is so true! Your best asset is contact information to people you meet. My network has helped me finding jobs, finding places to live, etc. And sometimes can I pay back by helping others. The aviation world is small, and you never know who you will meet around the next corner.
Hey guys, just stumbled upon your channel and I like what you're doing. This crazy adventure of your Long Way South is something I can really relate to so thumbs up for living' the dream. Was pleasantly surprised that your channel suggestions such as Trent Palmer, Mike 'Draco' Patty and Flight Chops are exactly the same as the flight-channels I'm following. Have fun going South, safe travels and consider me a subscriber. Greetings from another Dutchie.....
Really cool Q&A, found out a lot of things I've been wondering about over the years. I loved the encouragement to just get into the aviation community if you want to fly.
I was so pleased to hear that you want to fly helicopters. Since I was a little boy I have absolutely loved helicopters. I remember when I heard one fly by I would race to the window and climb on to the windowsill so I could watch it until it disappeared among the trees.😅 Thanks for answering the questions. It has been a privilege to be on this journey with you guys. I hope you enjoy Kenya...It's my home.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 National geographic or discovery channel picks you guys up, this is very good content especially for people like me who are aviation geeks😅
Damn I can't argue with any of your advice and I do so like an argu...er debate. I have a UK PPL and have never wanted to fly commercial as I just fly for fun in fact I do everything for fun as I told the confused Psychiatrist when I got my Brasilian Flying Medical certificate whilst working there. Keep having your adventures and have Fun. Regards, Jim in NI UK
We have similar aviation aspirations! I’m a fixed wing pilot, training on helos too, & I plan to be a bush pilot in Africa for environmental conservation & humanitarian aid endeavors. Good luck on all your adventures - maybe I’ll see you in the sky one day!! 💙
I’m not a pilot my father was I worked in aviation on the ground love the content and would love to see more on the ground content but still love the international communication and how you transfer from country to country communication from the air and thanks you for the entertainment ❤
Love your adventures. I used to fly C208 in Chad for MSF it was amazing. Now I am back in Chad flying ATR 72 500. If you ever in South Africa I own a Rainbow Cheetah then we must go for a flight. My dream machine is a Sling TSI amybe I build one some day. I can take you guys on a factory tour of Cheetah BushCats at the skyreach factory. Keep up the good work and fly safe. You flew right past us in Chad 🇹🇩
I also have no dream on going into the airlines so I agree with you. I want to do bush flying, nature reserves and missionary stuff. My only problem is, I'm 38 and only completed my private at 38. Had to stop and start a couple of times due to finances but I'm keeping at it and hope I can get my commercial done soon enough. I am in South Africa, grew up here, I was at Tedderfield just the day after you've returned the aircraft. Would be an honor to meet you guys. Keep up the good work.
One of the cheapest ways to learn to fly is to get a job at an airfield which has flight lessons on site. You may be able to work for free flights or get huge discounts. André in Sydney
I'm enjoying this voyage and appreciate your content. The fuel situation seems to make the Jet A capability with Diamond Aircraft an attractive choice.
Slightly different format and EXCELLENT as usual! Interesting to hear of the extended planning required and then the issues that STILL come up. So will there be post of activities at the two "extended stay" locations coming up?
Such good fun watching you guys 👍 How different from my first flight with my dad on a Tiger Moth , unfortunately I could not become a pilot as I am colour blind 🥴 Have a good one & safe flights to both of you 🤙
It's too many years ago, but a friend took me up in a fixed wing, single engine, including a trip from Elstree to Duxford. Flying into a museum sooned like a really smart thing to do. But here's my question, with heavy Dave Clark headphones on and what seemed to be a hummy cockpit, I found it a bit headachy. On the other hand, your interior seems to be very well sound insulated and the long flying time doesn't seem to wear you out too much, or is it just your sunny characters. Have enjoyed these trip diaries so much. Best wishes, from London.
I know, the video being so old, you probably won't see my comment. Thanks to TH-camr Stefan Drury for highlighting your videos. For medivac, have you considered looking into a stint with the Royal Flying Doctor Service here in Australia?
Living in France I want to start flying and listening to you I wondered is there an advantage in doing the PPL in South Africa? Surely amazing place to be and one could probably visit Sling and dream of making a HW :-).
Thanks bambi!!! i dream similar travel! i work very hard because it becomes reality! And i have same dog! Lagotto romagnolo! i'm italian- i'm romagnolo, i stay in forli 😁
I totally feel what you are feeling, being an airline pilot is most likely less fun than flying these small planes manually into small challenging airfields. I personally don't get what you enjoy about these super loud, expensive and extremely versatile helicopters and I would not want to fly these at night and land on individual spots, often near power lines, that idea simply freaks me out. But everybody has different emotions and ideas. I also know that they are equipped with special gear to make these lines visible, but still even at daylight being with a plane/heli near power lines on individual "non airfield" spots feels terrifying to me. My highest respect goes not to airline pilots, but to really experienced glider pilots ... which is also the foundation of your career and success, and I think learning how to manage the energy of your plane without propulsion of any kind for a safe spot on landing, if the engine fails, will most likely be less of a problem for both of you than most pure motor pilots. That capability can save your life. This year I will try flying a glider at a local club ... but only after I get some basic simulator experience, like with the latest version of the MSFS. Hope I don't 🤮during endless thermal circling. Your flying, editing and music is so brilliant, captivating and touching, I enjoy that to the fullest on a big 4K monitor and headphones I am right in there with you. Thank you so much for sharing this adventure, your recommendations and have a wonderful and safe trip. Love from Munich, Germany
Since the Rotax 915 can run on car gas, it was never possible to bring gas onto the airfield at any of the stops? Seems like that would have saved some costs?
The cost of fuel is crazy. I will not be taking that trip on my own. Thanks for bringing me along!!!!
Tusker at the end... eh good memories of the time spent in Kenya. Love watching your journey.
Bambi I love watching your guys's videos, and I don't think you have to be insecure about what people think of you, because what you see is what you get! You are genuine.

One small piece of advice: watch your diet a bit. Without a healthy temple [body], it's hard to manifest.
But also Enjoy 😉 🥂🤗.
I really enjoyed your explanations about the planning and the various issues that arise. You both did a great job helping me understand.
Pilot Bambi- thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

Another fun video. Enjoyed the Q & A. Looking forward to the rest of this adventure.
You two are very clever in finding ways to make your life the way you want it to be. Good on you.👍
Amazing trip report

Once again, thank you thank you thank you!
Cool flight . Liked the Q@A.
Since I started watching your channel I feel inspired and fun watching you fly... and let me welcome you to kenya

Thanks for the video. Please Be Safe and have Fun!
The thing you mention about "Hands-on-flying" instead of airliner-job I feel so much!!
Airline flying is a job , Bush flying is a passion.
Good luck , fly safe . Excellent interview.

I'm a big fan of the couple, and I'd like to suggest doing this kind of trips around Brazil with Brazilian planes like the Montaer.
Really cool Q&A, found out a lot of things I've been wondering about over the years. I loved the encouragement to just get into the aviation community if you want to fly.
I think you are both living your best life 🍻🇨🇦👍🏻
Great vedio thanks for This

😂 it wasn’t ideal hahaha
Interesting video and thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Continue to have a safe journey!! Yay Beer!!!🍺😂
Nice
I love hand flying, and she doesn’t stop talking like an Italian 😅✌️
Bambi, I just wanna hug you.
Slightly different format and EXCELLENT as usual!

Great trip and video's.... Thank you for taking us along! How are you (are you?) Two pilots logging time for this adventure?
Such good fun watching you guys 👍 How different from my first flight with my dad on a Tiger Moth , unfortunately I could not become a pilot as I am colour blind 🥴 Have a good one & safe flights to both of you 🤙
Love the Q&A. If the highwing Sling is heavier, slower, with a longer takeoff roll...why did Sling build it? What's the advantage over the low wing?
Maybe for the better view?
It's too many years ago, but a friend took me up in a fixed wing, single engine, including a trip from Elstree to Duxford. Flying into a museum sooned like a really smart thing to do. This looks like great fun. That Fuel price though😱
Living in France I want to start flying and listening to you I wondered is there an advantage in doing the PPL in South Africa? Surely amazing place to be and one could probably visit Sling and dream of making a HW :-).

It’s time for Rotax to build a JetA1 915is 😊
Since the Rotax 915 can run on car gas, it was never possible to bring gas onto the airfield at any of the stops? Seems like that would have saved some costs?
Fuel availability is a big obstacle on your journey. Just curious as to why autogas was not utilized which is suitable for the Rotax engine?
What kind of cameras do you use the one's you stick in the plane and on the wings
How come you didn't use mogas in the airports? I know down in SA and nearby places they will allow you to bring it in in bags.
Commercial rotary is literally my dream career, but my eyesight says otherwise and I’m not prepared to get surgery on them.
