    These last couple of videos have been really special. Special because it's wonderful to see you fulfill your childhood dreams and especially special because they have shown how life is in a part of the world that we, the people who are part of the so called "western world", not often get to see. To see the excitement in a little boys eyes when he sees someone who comes from afar or how proud the local guy at the Dolly airfield looked when he washed your aircraft...
    This series is about your story of flying a little high wing aircraft across a continent but it is also about the life that is so unbeknownst to most of the world. And even then, we only see a tiny part. Very hard to imagine what it must be like if this is your life.
    Keep it up! I love this series!
    :D

    10:03 "wind is calm"😃👍

    • @Nix_the_Pancake_Mix
      @Nix_the_Pancake_Mix ปีที่แล้ว

      That was actually just a dust devil. In most cases they are tiny and harmless compared to a tornado because they are created by an upward flow of air and a tornado is basically a giant whirlpool. And as un-intuitive as it sounds, light winds are actually more likely to form a dust devil, opposed to a tornado where you need strong, opposing winds. Lastly, dust devils are usually very short lived - typically lasting only a few minutes, so Bambi and her twende were actually a bit lucky to get such a nice shot of one. :)

    Hey guys, hope this is not too late: that gasket (the 'brass ring') is single use, and should be replaced if opened. Reusing it can leave an oil leak. Soft landings!

    I all ways carry a small funnel with a piece of suede as a filter before pouring gas into the plane if the gas comes from an unknown gas station. The suede will trap the dust and wont let water pass into the tank. It holds water in it.

    Surprised to see how black that oil is after just 50hrs? I once did 14 trips between Kapstadt and Pretoria= 14x1450kmx2+1. My Honda's oil, even then, looked refinery fresh, a golden sheen. The car had 134,000km on the odo. I usually changed oil every 5000km plus filter, all synthetic, but this time, I simply had no time. Every trip was non-stop, just stopped for fuel & padkos, no sleepovers.

Anyway, I listened to how fast you talk, and how fast ATCs speak, and wondered how my Kenyan English will keep up with ATC from other countries. 🤣Listening to Kenyan and Tanzanian ATCs,.. I can see I wasn't wrong. We speak our English much slower here in East Africa. I'll need to train my ears. Great video and thanks for sharing this precious journey of yours. And after filling up to get it easyer everywhere whilst turning prop to make the engine" burp". At the 912 is about this, 915 i dont know..... But it worked as well your way.. Otherwise no video. Twende ...means hurry up in swahili.. i lived in mombasa in 1992 . we spoke plenty of swahili which i forgot after i left. used to say '' akkiamungo takubeka wewe'' ..wafferwa ..kuma mako. and many nicer words which i forgot of course.

    What dates would you have been in Kenya? I stayed at my brother's right beside Wilson Dec 31 till Jan 20 and always watched aircraft movements from the terrace, wondering if I'd spot a Sling HW...of course fully aware that your YT videos are published after your trips.
