A couple of points about the Wera Tool Check set (I'm a big Wera fan, and I use their tools a lot for bike mechanics as well as general DIY). The HOP designation that had you puzzled is Wera's patented Hex Plus design - it's like a flank drive for Allen head bolts, so that the load is spread onto the flats and away from the corners of the fastener, resulting in less risk of rounding out. These are some of the best hex bits you can get, IMHO, and I have removed many stuck bolts with them that a normal hex bit couldn't budge. It's possible to get pocket-size Wera 'Kraftform Kompact' kits with just the micro ratchet and nine bits, or just the driver handle and nine bits - I have several of those, and they're very handy to keep in your pocket or on your tool belt. Also, the hole through the head of the micro ratchet means that some (not all) of the bits can be installed and used upside-down, which can be handy in very confined spaces - the effective depth of the tool is literally just the length of the bit, usually 25mm. Finally, for what it's worth, I've never had problems with the retaining clip popping off the ratchet head, though I have disassembled the heads to lube the gear by removing this clip.

It would be nice if the Wera had a slender extension.

I have a Wiha set and an ifixit set that covers everything especially little phoropter screws.

oh, I've used that same wiha set, an old job provided it for us , it's pretty decent for electronics component level repair.

The tool check sets are cool, but I worry that that plastic thing will just break in a short time. Especially that little ring that holds the driver handle. Too much plastic. Wera even uses plastic on the ratchet switches and bit holder collars. Doesn't look very durable.

I adore my Wiha set, I have the one with the motorized driver in it. The only thing it doesn't have is a T1 and T2 bit and would you believe I actually had to use a T1 at one time and so I have the manual Whia set that starts at T1 through T6. I carry the T1 and T2 driver in the case. I do like the nut drivers and my set doesn't have that. I might have to purchase that set and make room for my motorized driver. You wouldn't think the motorized driver would help but when you are removing several screws it saves a lot of time.

Nothing even comes close to beating a icon bit ratchet with extension inside of an altoid tin with the short sockets from the $6 hf ratchet and socket set. Add some hex and screwdriver bits and you have an unbeatable edc.

The bits are amazing. The ratchet and screwdriver suck.

I'm sorry, but that Felo set is an example of a bad set let me explain why: You have a 1/4 inch adapter in the set, but no sockets to be seen.
I have a similar set also made in Germany which has seven different socket wrenches, but no 1/4inch adapter to be found in the set. Now this is a problem, a good kit should be self contained. Everything in there should be usable with everything else. You should be able to grab it and do the job, if you have to go external - That's not a good kit.

I'm more of a Wera fan than Wiha, but the Wiha set looks far better for precision applications. The Wera doesn't even have slotted options apart from one flathead. A little disappointed in that one.

No more Wiha for me, they go Chinese (more and more items made in China) while singing their "made in Germany" gospel. Go with Wera or King Tony (Taiwanese manufacturer, made in Taiwan). Hugely disappointed with Felo's frail (weak) ratcheting mechanism: skip tooth when torquing in pine...
