I watch all of your soap videos all the time. You make it look so easy ! My first batch was such a disaster I couldn't believe it! I'm going to keep @ it . Thank you for responding, I know you are a very busy lady .
Absolutely the best tutorial!!. I have always wanted to make "real" soap, but was not feeling too confidant about it as there were so many things I could not wrap my head around reading books. I stuck to the safe melt & pour ones. This has definately given me the green light to now give it a go. Thanks very much!! 🙂
Some folks just don't feel comfortable working with lye because it is so toxic if inhaled or can burn. Speaking of, I saw many posts saying to keep vinegar handy and apply within 30sec of a burn to neutralize. Logistically it can be challenging due to fumes/smell (e.g. apartment s and condos, or if you have slot of pets who would be exposed. Then, if you make large quantities for selling, I can see where folks would skip a few steps. But, all that said, I completely appreciate the amount of effort and the skill this takes 💯%💕 And the finished product is SO beautiful. I could almost feel the smoothness and smell the lavender 😍😍

The soap turned out quite nice 👍 I have not used it yet but my wife said it is good.... I was a little worried at the start because I made some little sample ones with the leftover that I did not wrap up with a towel, they are still quite soft.... The loaf turned out good 👌 rapping in a towel is essential!

And I must say it came out amazing !At first When I was mixing the products I got a bit discourage because my batter was not turning as white/lite as yours. I’m going to give this a try too! Super excited. And sending a friendly wave from Long Island-my work brought me to NY and I just love the state and people here! And big wave to you, Elly! Thank you for a such a super informative and easy video to follow.
Just made this one too!! Started with the aloe soap which is nicely hardening now. The lavender smells heavenly! I didn't put the colour and other additives, just the lavender oil, and sprinkled it with pink Himalayan salt. Looks really pretty!! Going to do orange zest next. Thankyou Elly!! Love your videos!
Thank you for the concise way that you put your video together. I have never made soap and it will be my first time when I get my supplies. I will watch your video again before I start. Thanks again!!

Elly, thank you for sharing your recipes with us. I made this one and the carrot puree and turmeric hot process soap this past weekend. My house smells so wonderful right now. I live in an apartment so I have to cure my soap inside on racks. I started out making melt and pour soap about 20 years ago, and other bath items. I was always afraid to try using lye. I really appreciate your videos because you made everything so simplified for me. I have made the pine tar soap as well. Everything came out perfect when I tried each recipe. I have also created a couple of my own recipes over the past couple of months. I hope you continue to make videos for us in the future. Thank you again.

So glad I took time out to watch this presentation. Very informative. And it's Australian even better. Can't wait to give it a go. I love Lemon Myrtle soap so manbe you could offer some suggestions on the recipe and wear to get the essential oil.
Hi, yes, I love lemon myrtle soap! And you can add it to any soap recipe you like. You could easily make this lavender soap recipe but use lemon myrtle instead of lavender essential oil. I purchase my lemon myrtle oil from Escentials of Australia (online stockist).
Thank you Elly, I watched your videos the last few weeks and tonight my husband and I finally took the step and made our first soap. Your a sweet gal.🥰 Cant wait to see how we did in the morning.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skill, Ellie. I love to cook and bake, and this tickles that nerve! Gonna go full DIY on soap making because it looks fun and rewarding, as well as fairy easy. I’d bet it’s also a healthier option to the synthetic soap products in the store. All the best, thanks.
Thanks. I guess I was panicking, because I took them out of the molds a few hours ago and they looked really nice. Beautiful yellow, now the hard part is waiting on them to dry. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. George
At Least your soap hardened enough to get cut. I am crossing my finders for mine. It has been 9hours since I put mine in the mould, still quite liquidish, I am Worried
Yes, the heat definitely helps. I would have done this video differently if I was doing it again! The heat transfer method is probably better than the way I showed here. No storage of lye then either...
You're welcome. Best of luck with it all. It's a bit overwhelming in the beginning but you'll get there! Have you seen my other videos for beginners? There's one that gives a basic introduction to soap making, and another about formulating your own soap recipes.

Amazing video of the soap making. I have recently done an basic soap on line course but watching your video makes it so simple to understand. You are doing great!! Can you please do a hand wash video too.
THANK you for using grams.. you have no idea I was so confused about percents. That's all ive seen is percents & it seems SO overwhelming . I know ( grams, ounces, pounds ) but that word "percent" was throughing me ALL the way off . I know feel comfortable making cold process soap. Ive been doing it using Melt & pour . Every loaf i've done was based on CPS so they are very tricky to do with M&P . Examples are ** unicorn soap, mermaid kisses with large tail embeds, sun moon & stars , gum ball soap & amethyst soap which was SUPER hard because of thr amount of large geo embeds needed sticking from the top of the bars ,it goes on & on ** This was is actually so much easier because you're not freezing, thawing ,runny to the microwave 🙄 pouring melting cutting melting again going back to the freezer ..uh -im tired just reliving those bars 🤣 dont get me wrong i love them . This way seems easier
Thank you, I'm really glad you found my video helpful. That does sound like a lot of work with the M&P!! I'm publishing another video soon to show how I formulate and calculate my soap recipes, which nobody else seems to show in their videos. I hope you find that one helpful too :)
Hi, it took a long time _for me_ to learn how to use this website but it's good at doing the conversions: soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcWP.asp *For M & P* I used to cut up bars of Dial soap, add water and propylene glycol (solution 50% & Dial 50%) and cook in crockpot for 1 1/2 hours, but now I've found it a lot easier to just do hot process and after gel stage is completed to add the Propylene glycol & water. No more cooking time that way. Saved by Christ, just wanted to say how great it was for me to see your name.
Here is my video about how to calculate soap recipes, it shows how to use soap calc as well :) How to formulate and calculate your own soap recipes th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
How do I safely clean all the equipment that came in contact with the lye (i.e. measuring cup, stirring spoon) and the stock blender and bucket once I’m done? I haven’t seen anybody address this particular question. Excellent video thank you
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback! I made a video all about soap clean up you may like to watch. It has my best tips th-cam.com/video/Pn3yfUw28OA/w-d-xo.html
I have used this recipe three times now and love it. I used the crock pot method the first two times, and it turned out great. This time I thought I'd tried the cold process because the bars looked smoother. My bars are quite soft to the touch compared to the hot process. I left it set in the molds (I used Hershey cocoa containers) for the 24 hrs before removing. Will it harden up some after the 4-6 weeks aging process? The outside of the bars are firmer but the inside of the bars are quite soft, I can leave a finger print in the bar. Any ideas? Thank you so much for your videos.
You can make soap without coconut oil, no problem at all! You will need to re-calculate the recipe though... I have a video that explains how that works if you are interested in calculating a new recipe based on the oils you have and want to use. How to formulate and calculate your own soap recipes! th-cam.com/video/AqKxin0q1bM/w-d-xo.html
Hello, After I watched this video, I ordered a cold press soap making kit from online. I've been interested in the soap making but I've never tried. Your instruction is very clear. I will watch your videos to learn more about it. Thank you✨
I love you for this video and I am blessed to have this channel popped up. Wish I can like these million times... Always had a dream of creating my own soap artistry
Thank you for a very informative video! After waiting for my lye to get to room temp, I realized that the coconut oil I had already poured had hardened because room temp in my house is 63F - quite cool. So I had to heat the oils. How important is it that the oils and the lye be the same temperature? Then, I was blending so long with no sign of trace that my blender was starting to heat up in my hands. Eventually I think I saw a vague trace (at least I hope) so I stopped fearing I'd ruin the blender. I'll find out in 24 hours if it worked! Also, the soap in my mold does not go up to the top of the mold; there's about 2 inches extra. Is that extra air space going to affect the 24-hour process? Thank you!
Hi there, despite what many people will tell you, no, it makes no difference if your oils and lye are at different temperatures. You can even mix your soap with hot lye and room temperature oils, it will just trace and thicken a lot faster. If my coconut oil hardens, I just microwave the oils for a short time until they melt again. No problem at all :) And no, there is no issue at all with the gap above your soap in the mould. As long as it is well wrapped and insulated it will be fine. Good luck!
Yeah sure! As long as you help them to fully understand what's invovled, and you can trust them to follow all of the safety precautions and not cut any corners! This video would be important to watch with them as well th-cam.com/video/8bKpLWNqAGs/w-d-xo.html

Really cute way to learn.

I watch all of your soap videos all the time. You make it look so easy ! My first batch was such a disaster I couldn't believe it! I'm going to keep @ it . Thank you for responding, I know you are a very busy lady .
Good on you for persisting, you'll get there!
Finally i found one who does not make soaps from soaps and call it as homemade like any other out there
Thank you, yes this is the real deal :)

@@MsElizabethRichard hello Miss....I would love to chat with you through emails...I feel like you can help me with some relevant information....there is a product I would love to make
I agree! the melt and pour is just like buying a cake and squishing it in containers and saying you made that cake!
Just made this soap with my wife 😁 we added Moroccan clay and vanilla essence oil, it smells absolutely fantastic can't wait to see how it turns out.... THANK YOU from Tassie 🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful! And hello from Brisbane! I love Tassie :)
The soap turned out quite nice 👍 I have not used it yet but my wife said it is good.... I was a little worried at the start because I made some little sample ones with the leftover that I did not wrap up with a towel, they are still quite soft.... The loaf turned out good 👌 rapping in a towel is essential!
Hi Dale, make sure you cure your soap for a month or so before you use it - so that it can dry out and harden properly. Well done!
When you added your vanilla essential how much did you put in and did it trace immediately?
Can't remember how much i put in but enough to give it a nice smell, and it did not Trace immediately.
Each time I make a batch of soap, I always rewatch your video as a refresher. Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial out there. All the way from 🇨🇦..

Heyyyy , so since I now have time on my hands with all the craziness the world is experiencing! I finally made the soap with your recipe !

Examples are ** unicorn soap, mermaid kisses with large tail embeds, sun moon & stars , gum ball soap & amethyst soap which was SUPER hard because of thr amount of large geo embeds needed sticking from the top of the bars ,it goes on & on **
This was is actually so much easier because you're not freezing, thawing ,runny to the microwave 🙄 pouring melting cutting melting again going back to the freezer ..uh -im tired just reliving those bars 🤣 dont get me wrong i love them . This way seems easier
Thank you, I'm really glad you found my video helpful. That does sound like a lot of work with the M&P!!
I'm publishing another video soon to show how I formulate and calculate my soap recipes, which nobody else seems to show in their videos. I hope you find that one helpful too :)
Hi, it took a long time _for me_ to learn how to use this website but it's good at doing the conversions: soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcWP.asp
*For M & P*
I used to cut up bars of Dial soap, add water and propylene glycol (solution 50% & Dial 50%) and cook in crockpot for 1 1/2 hours, but now I've found it a lot easier to just do hot process and after gel stage is completed to add the Propylene glycol & water. No more cooking time that way.
Saved by Christ, just wanted to say how great it was for me to see your name.
Here is my video about how to calculate soap recipes, it shows how to use soap calc as well :)

Thank you so much for all of the warnings!! This is my first video I’ve seen with warnings
this is great, so informative. is it possible to triple up the recipe to make four loaves?
Yes of course! Just be sure to check your calculations thoroughly.
Yes, a full cure will harden the soap :)
I am sooo happy I found this clear step by step tutorial!
But I have a question, can I avoid the coconut in this recipe? If yes then how?
You can make soap without coconut oil, no problem at all! You will need to re-calculate the recipe though... I have a video that explains how that works if you are interested in calculating a new recipe based on the oils you have and want to use.

Thank you, great video
Thanks Andrea :)
No problem at all :)
And no, there is no issue at all with the gap above your soap in the mould. As long as it is well wrapped and insulated it will be fine. Good luck!
I’ve been looking at homemade soap recently, I just wanted to know if it would be an ok project for a teenager?
Yeah sure! As long as you help them to fully understand what's invovled, and you can trust them to follow all of the safety precautions and not cut any corners! This video would be important to watch with them as well th-cam.com/video/8bKpLWNqAGs/w-d-xo.html
